Bao Chun Lai vs. Chen Hong
the chance is 50 - 50, hard to predict

Zhang Ning vs. Yao Jie
i think they met at the recent WC, and ZN took it quite easily, YJ's stamina and footwork can't be compared to ZN, it's 70 - 30 to ZN

Cai Yun/Fu Hai Feng vs. Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan

MK/HS played impressively in QF and SF, they have a chance to upset the World Champ, it's 50 - 50, but I'll pick INA pair

Yang Wei/Zhang Jie Wen vs. Wei Yi Li/Zhang Ya Wen
it's 50 - 50

Xu Chen/Zhao Ting Ting vs. Xie Zhong Bo/Zhang Ya Wen
it's 50 - 50

I am really looking forward to Kido/Setiawan's performance in China. I can't wait to see whether they have the skill to overcome Fu/Cai. Luluk/Alven is clearly a failure when it comes to Fu/Cai. Hopefully they can prove that Indonesian's MD is not in coma yet.

AYO Kido Setiawan!!! I hope they can win because they're one of the very few promising young players from Indonesia. Hopefully, other countries will also grow more talented players to break the Great Wall of China. This way, badminton wil surely be a lot more exciting.:D:rolleyes:

Kido/Setiawan used the same tactic like Tony/Candra used to beat Cai/Fu, they play lots of nets and fast drives. Playing nets and fast drives like that is typical Indonesian doubles styles, Cai/Fu are not used to it, they like to play the power style instead. So Cai/Fu had no option to avoid Kido/Setiawan fast drives and traded it by playing long shots, but they had to play defense more, Kido/Setiawan's offense is not bad, that's why they still managed to beat Cai/Fu. I predicted that Kido/Setiawan could beat Cai/Fu when I saw them playing in QF, they improved their game and played more consistently.

This is the tactic that the Indonesian coach used yesterday when Luluk/Alvent were playing against Cai/Fu, but Luluk/Alvent couldn't win, I guess Luluk played bad.

Congrats INA MD, you showed the world your genetic ... :)

It's an embarassment for Cai/Fu to lose at home.

There are many doubles players like Kido in local clubs in Indonesia, small, fast, and powerful. Sometimes you can't understand where the power is coming from, they jump very high too. Usually, they partner these players with a little bit taller and skinny player, or another short player, so there are 2 Kidos on the court :D Player like Hendra Setiawan is not that typical in Indonesia, he's taller than average.

They play amazingly fast doubles player, sliced nets, half court push, fast drives, drives return smash, and strong attacks. You can't lift to these players, they will kill it before you can see the bird. I played with these kind of players before, and it was intense, but fun. :)

Bao Chunlai ousts Lin Dan to enter China Open badminton final

Bao Chunlai came over from one set down to beat fellow Chinese Lin Dan in the men's singles semifinal of the China Open badminton championshipsin Guangzhu on Saturday.

Bao outclassed world champion Lin 18-21, 21-19 and 21-10.

After losing the first set where Lin displayed his fast footwork and trick shots, Bao stayed calm as both players reached 7-7, but was far behind again 9-17 in a moment.

However, the Korea Open winner didn't give up and clawed back point by point to 15-17 in a row and played better and better to win the set 21-19.

In the third set, Lin lost his rhythm and made many unforced errors while Bao improved his pace on the court and absolutely back to his best to seal the match 21-10.

"I am so excited that I beat Lin Dan. Last time I won over him was in 2001," said Bao, "I won't be happier even if I win the title tomorrow.

"In the second set when I was 9-17 behind, I felt that I should do something different other than just giving up. And then I did what I wished. Lin may lose his confidence after I won the second set."

YESSS!!!! Well done Kido/Setiawan. You have shown them who is the boss. It seems Kido/Setiawan have a good records this year when playing in China. First they won the Hongkong Open which a lot of Indonesians have bad records and now China Open. I think the last foreigner (MD) to win here in China Open is Candra/Sigit in 2004? or is it 2005? Can't remember.
Anyway, well done.

Looking at the built of Kido, people will expect him to be guarding the net, but he is the one doing most of the smashing. Setiawan is seriously fast in front of the net. Looking good for the future now. What Indo needs right now is another YOUNG MD pair to back Kido/Setiawan. Luluk/Alvent partnership is finished. They should split and work with different partner instead.

Congrats to young Indonesian pair!!! Too bad I missed it, had to go shopping for our coming festival. Very glad China didn't win everything on home soil.

Kido is indeed of the same mould as Yap Kim Hock, Ng Boon Bee, Ade Candra, all of which lack height but possess great firepower.

Looks like Cai/Fu haven't really arrived yet. Two losses (one on home ground) immediately after bagging the world title isn't normal in a champion's resume. And being that much more experienced, I would have expected them to learn to adapt to the fast drive style. How many pairs have used the same tactics against them these past 4 years? CTF/LWW, Jonas/Lars, Tony/Candra, Eriksen/Lundgaard, KKK/CCM, the list is endless ... ...

Surely the Chinese coaches have noticed this?

I will post my thoughts and adventure with most of the INA players and coach (Ko Herry IP, Luluk&Alvent, Kido&Hendra) in GZ yesterday in another thread either later today or tomorrow :D Anyway, INA has WON the men's doubles title in China Open for THREE YEARS IN A ROW!

As for young pairs, don't worry, there's some upcoming pairs which u will definitely see in the near future. Ko Herry has already mentioned to me that Hendra A.G./Joko Riyadi have been promoted to the main team. They will see actions in the European circuit beginning on Wednesday this week. They are also in the "shadow squad" for the Sudirman Cup next year.

As for the second team, the pairs are: Yoga Ukikasah/Yonathan Suryamata Dasuki (Yoga/Yoke as he calls them :D), Frans Kurniawan/Rendra Wijaya (Renda is Candra's younger brother), and Mohd Aksan/Bona Septano (Bona is Kido's younger brother).

Luluk/Alvent, Kido/Hendra & Taufik have all flown to Changsha this morning. There will be no coach accompanying them as Ko Herry flied back to Jakarta this afternoon and should have arrived. No expectation also on the World Cup since all expenses are paid for by the organizing committee. In addition, each player also received a fixed appearance fee (I won't disclose the sum...but its very good :D) plus bonus money if they reach at least the semi-finals. So, it's practically a week for the INA players to rake as much money as possible since it's Hari Raya time...
