Its the second walkout after the first in HO2006. Then he pratically gave up on third set of HK2006 final against LD. Practically the only match he play fully and fight all out was Thomas Cup SF against China and he lost straight sets at that time.

Probably he only want to gave confidence to himself (I doubtly he succeed) after being lost to China players 5 tournaments in a row.

Hong Kong Open (QF VS LD . TH do the famous walkover)

World CHampion (R16 lost 3 sets to Chen Hong)

Japan Open (Final lost to LD again in 3 sets)

China Open (R16 lost to CJ in 3 sets)

World Cup (In group prelimnary lost to CH again in 3 closed tight sets and suddenly had wrist injury while he had to play LD in SF)

How chicken can you be. Even Hafiz who never won against LD never suddenly had wrist injury when he had to play LD each time. Or lots of players who LD had beat this year.

Probably TH for have to pick wisely for next tournament. Try to pick an events without China players participating.

Hmm didn't Taufik state quite clearly in a recent interview (I think after JO) that he regarded Lin Dan as the best player in the world? So why all the talk of Taufik's arrogance and this being the reason for his withdrawal. It sounds quite obvious that Taufik only W/O because he didn't want to play Lin Dan (though you never know, it could be true). I don't think it was because he "wants to keep his superiority". I think playing Lin Dan just brings out the worst in Taufik. I mean you don't really have these little "dramas" when he's playing anyone else.

I think all these little jabs at Taufik are unfair. Or some of them anyway, I agree that it's a downright pain that he can't have one complete match with Lin Dan. He's really going to have to get over that. But I don't think he's too arrogant, maybe a little, but then most people are. It's just because Taufik is so well known we notice it more. He also sort of brings it upon himself with some of the things he does :p.

Deceiving himself by turning blind to the fact is a picture of a TRUE LOSER. A loser like that would never make the tough journey to become a professional or even a great player like him.

Unlike his fans, TH always admitted his lost with no excuses despite that he tried his best. He also admitted that LD is the current World's best player. Through these facts, I don't think TH is worried about his image after all. A good reason would be cuz TH knows that he is among the top players in the world who always have a chance to beat each other.

Therefore,
It's less likely that TH withdrew cuz he's afraid of his image losing again. It's more likely that he's really injured..;)
