Rian Sukmawan/Eng Hian vs Kristof Hopp/Ingo Kindervater (MATCH OF THE ROUND) -- the first real test for Rian/Eng Hian. But, they should win!

Mathias Boe/Joachim Fischer Nielsen vs Svetoslav Stojanov/Mihail Popov -- with Boe's presence, the unseeded Danish pair should progress.

Hendra A. Gunawan/Joko Riyadi vs Mike Beres/William Milroy -- a slighty "easier" task for Hendra/Joko compared to yesterday's. Again, they are expected to win.

Maria Kristin Yulianti vs Pi Hongyan (MATCH OF THE ROUND) -- from being nearly out of Pelatnas to now probably the best performer in recent months with a QF placing here. A win will be a bonus for Maria, esp since Pi was exhausted after a tiring match yesterday.

Kamila Augustyn/Nadiezda Kostiuczyk vs Rani Mundiasti/Endang Nur Sugianti (MATCH OF THE ROUND) -- a tough match for the INA pair. If they get pass this one, they might even go all the way to the final.

Katrin Piotrowski/Michaella Peiffer vs Rachel Van Cutsen/Paulien Van Dooremalen

It will be difficult to beat Matthias Boe and his new partner. Similar, Rian Sukmawan/Eng Hian will not find it easy to beat Michael Logosz/Robert Mateusiak.

An all-Indonesian Final will be very very good :D

Hmmm...a good start by Maria Kristin. The game was at 5-5 when she took 6 straight points to lead 11-5 at the interval. Then, it was Pi's turn to get 5 straight points to narrow the lead to 11-10. Maria extended her lead to 16-11 and it was no turning back. She won the set 21-17.

Looking some tournament in past, Maria is the most consistance player among Firda & Fransisca. She also had better h2h against Firda or Fransisca. But Maria is "slow action" person, look liked Hendrawan prefer to players who have high spirit and brave. Changing of WS coach to Sandiarto, hopefully make INA WS better.

She was the best performing WS in the Indonesia Open, reaching R16.
Now, she is in the semi-finals...with a chance to reach her first major final.
Let's see how she perform tomorrow against Petra Overzier.

Devin Lahardi/Yunita Tetty have just beaten their opponent 21-13, 21-16 and will face the top seed Robert Mateusiak/Nadiezda Kostiuczyk in the semi-finals tomorrow.

Three more matches involving INA players coming up....

Good to hear Devin/Tetty made it through to the semifinal. Hope they can win tomorrow and show that Indonesia is still one of the superpowers in Badminton. Geez, I wish I can watch them play.

Hendra A. Gunawan/Joko Riyadi have beaten Mike Beres/William Milroy in straight sets 23-21, 21-14 and will meet Mathias Boe/Joachim Fischer Nielsen in the semi-finals tomorrow. Hendra/Joko were cruising in the first set until it was 17-11. Then, the Canadian pair fought back and managed to tie the score at 19-19. They even had game points at 20-19 and 21-20. Luckily, Hendra/Joko won the set in deuce 23-21.

The second set was much better as the INA pair never let slip the advantage once they are more than 4-5 points ahead. I guess they have learnt a lesson in the first set that the opponent can still catch up even if u are 6 points ahead :cool:

The WD match between Rani Mundiasti/Endang Nur Sugianti and Kamila Augustyn/Nadiezda Kostiuczyk turns out to be a thriller. The Polish pair were quick to establish a healthy 6-0 lead in the first set and there were no turning back. The INA pair was once within 2 points, but, they lost the set 17-21.

In the second set, the Polish pair was once again starting brightly with a 3-0 lead, but, the INA pair didn't let them go further. They eventually managed to catch up and 12-12 and were ahead 14-12 for the first time. The 2 points lead stayed till the end of the second set as they took it 21-19.

It's now rubber-set.

The INA pair controlled the match from the very beginning of the rubber set as they were quick to establish a 7-2 lead. The lead extended to 18-11 and eventually Rani Mundiasti/Endang Nur Sugianti won the third set easily 21-12. They now have a chance to enter their second final.

In the MD, the Djarum pair Rian Sukmawan/Eng Hian were never in trouble as they beat Kristof Hopp/Ingo Kindervater 21-18, 21-17. The points were quite close in both sets but the Djarum pair was clearly superior. They will face a more formidable opponent in Michael Logosz/Robert Mateusiak tomorrow.

So, Team Pelatnas has won all its matches today...surprisingly. It's semi-finals tomorrow and there's a possibility that there will be an all-Indonesian final in the MD and all-Singaporean final in the MS. All the matches will be tough, except maybe for the WD pair. It will really be a great achievement if Team Pelatnas manages to have 4 finalists on Sunday!
