Former world number one shuttler back in Malaysia
PETALING JAYA: Former world number one Zhou Mi of China is back again in Malaysia.
She has agreed to spar with national top shuttler Wong Mew Choo for another one-month to help with the Malaysian's preparation for the Asian Games, which will be held in Doha from Dec 1-15.
The Chinese was here in Malaysia for a month prior to Mew Choo's preparation for the World Championships in Madrid in September.
By brushing shoulders with Zhou Mi, Mew Choo has had done well in the China and Korean Opens.
She defeated world number 10 Jiang Yanjiao - a player from China - for the first time in the second round of the China Open.
At the Korean Open, she defeated world number three Wang Chen of Hong Kong in the second round. At the world meet, she went down to Zhang Ning of China in the third round.

WMC,jia you
Li Yongbo did not make "wave" this time about Zhou Mi coming to Malaysia:D Good and lucky for Mew Choo, only BAM will spend this type of money.
elwin81 10-28-2006, 02:09 AM WMC will keep improving in months and we might see upset in Doha.
Personally it will be good if Zhou Mi spar with other female players as well. We need to groom the younger players too.

True, is there any plan in the future for BAM?
ctjcad 10-28-2006, 04:44 AM Hmm, why don't Zhou Mi just move to Malaysia already ah....besides, if she likes and doesn't mind living in M'sia for a long period of time, it makes sense all the while...i only have 1 wish for her and the MAS team : so Zhou Mi can represent and play for M'sia in next yr's WC...and if possible, winning it all in front of the homecrowd against her former teammate(whoever she may be)..;):) :D
Ethan 10-29-2006, 06:36 AM Having Zhou Mi to spar with the players will just be a plus for BAM. We need more WS players from malaysia currently just WMC playing in the open tournaments. Sutheswari is not good enough.

baihaki_as 10-30-2006, 05:46 PM i hope wmc can do something miracle in AG, this is his good chance because there's only two chinese in here
abedeng 10-30-2006, 08:54 PM Hmm, favoured are two Chinese. Then one ex-Chinese HK player. After that, two Japanese.
After which, comes WMC, with challenges from Korea, TPE, Singapore, Indonesia even. Getting to semis is already a challenge.
i do agree.. it is already a stepping stone if she can go to the semis..
malaysia boleh? 10-31-2006, 01:50 AM If I am not mistaken, Zhoi Mi has chosen Malaysia instead of Hong Kong. The main reason is Li Mao..her former mentor. This is her second stint in Malaysia (in 3 months time). I think BAM are working on the paper..very soon Zhou Mi will be playing for Malaysia..BAM jia you.
Imagine this..Zhou Mi wearing the jalur germilang (the tiger strip)..Wow!
baihaki_as 10-31-2006, 08:06 PM wmc is the most ws i really like now, beside pretty she's come from south east asia hope she will be the champion

Nevermind, don't eat the sambla la. Rice, ikan bilis, egg, cucumber and peanuts is good enough. :D

I think this could hardly happen. Even though CHN is more open now days, which allow it's 2nd tier or formal players to go out coaching or even play for the other nation, I highly doubt they will allow a formal #1 to follow the same route.
If so, it's like giving an example for the current players, who can use all kinda excuses to retire early, and go to play for other nations, for better $$$ and playing time.
blessing 11-03-2006, 10:27 AM if time allows.. they should consider to ask zhou mi to spar wif all da MAS female juniors.. bright for their future..
purpledoi 11-04-2006, 09:09 AM Hahaha, not only spar, but pass on some advice also mah.
It'd be great if one day, China would be asking Msia to send some players over THERE to spar with 'em.
chibe_K 11-10-2006, 03:10 PM Perhaps, BAM should hire Zhou Mi as the headcoach of womens team. It would be more beneficial if Cheah Soon Keat spars with the players with his powerful smash.
