Is Chen Yu in some financial needs(more motivation:p) or is he just in top form? He beat two of his teammates to get into the final... and both BCL and CJ are not easy to beat opponents. I hope he can produce a top-class match and I will keep it in my badminton collection!!!:D
badMania 10-27-2006, 11:58 AM MEN'S DOUBLES
Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan vs Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari/Lin Woon Fui -- any match involving INA vs MAS MD pairs are always exciting and usually ending in rubber-sets. Kido/Hendra have a good record against the MAS young pairs (Gan/Zakry and Fairuz/Lin), so, they have the edge!
MIXED DOUBLES
Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir vs Xie Zhongbo/Zhang Yawen -- tomorrow's match is the 4th meetings in the space of less than 2 mths  Nova/Butet triumphed in HK and Japan Open, while Xie/Zhang beat them just yesterday in 3 very very close sets 23-25, 21-19, 21-19. It will be close again...and I hope Nova/Butet can win...and build that psychological advantage since they are expected to meet again in the Asian Games.

Lets just hope both MD pairs play consistent games which they seem to have problem with as they are young. Indoensians will win as Malaysians have yet to show they can win in the final based on history.

Chen Yu is a very solid player but somehow is never given the opportunity to play important rule for Team China, my guess is he's just not the fovaurite of coach Li. Don't be surprise if Chen Yu beat Lin Dan as Lin Dan usually doesn't play that well against his own team mate.

Consider the fact that Chen Yu has beaten both LCW and CJ twice this year, took both PG and TH to a close 3 setters, he proved that he's got what it takes to win. However, LD has proven that he is indeed better than the rest of the top players this year, so it will still slightly surprise me if CY manages to win the match tomorrow.:p I always knew CY is good... just lack the opportunity to really shine(especially since he missed world championship at ranking #11... while others far behind him could go.:crying:)
They both play somewhat a similar style, if my observation of CY's match against TH in Indo Open is correct. So it may come down to whoever can control the other better and attack more often with precision.:D
golddragonfly 10-27-2006, 01:31 PM Could anyone record them and them upload to YouTube of GoogleVideo - so we all can enjoy this?

Gao/Zhang lost again as well :crying: :(
Natsir/Widianto vs Xie/Zhang- the chinese pair to win :D :p ;) :)
Yeah I don't think we can count on Zhang Jun and Gao Ling to win anymore, probably due to the fact that that he is too old (around 30?). I guess this is why Zheng Bo is replacing him in the upcoming Asian Games. If the pairing work out well, I think we'll see more of these two in future tournaments.
On side note, Xie/Zhang are consistent enough to be considered as China's #1 pair, only losing out a few times to top guns this year!

2pm Pacific? you wish! :p
I see on cctv5 website that the final broadcast starts at 13:25 Chinese time. I think thats 10:25pm PDT tonight. A much better time than the earlier rounds.
kokcheng 10-27-2006, 08:41 PM I do agree with Badmania,Han and doublesplayer that Kido/Setiawan will have the edge over Lin/Tazari.It's a losers game for Lin and Tazari.Have faith, confidence and tons of fighting spirit to overcome what you lack.As a Malaysian I hope both of you stay focus and united.Play as a team and you all will have an equally good chance of wresting the championship.Be patient and stay as long as you possibly can in order to frustrate your opponents. The beauty of your partnership is that you respect and encourage each other to win the battle.Malaysian doubles pairs usually lack this mutual respect.Good luck! Both of you need it.Think of your coach if it gets tough and never give up.
zqloy 10-27-2006, 08:58 PM Yeah I don't think we can count on Zhang Jun and Gao Ling to win anymore, probably due to the fact that that he is too old (around 30?).
Perhaps more on ZJ's weight? He looks like gained quite abit of weight :p
DoublesPlayer 10-27-2006, 10:36 PM Lin/Tazari played an incredibly mens doubles game yesterday in semifinal. If they play like that again, they have a pretty good chance of winning. They never gave up, they way they played against Cai/Fu reminded me of Cheah Soon Kit and his partner playing in the Thomas Cup final against favorite Indonesia pair Liem Swie King and Bobby Ertanto, Cheah and his partner were the underdog, but they played like crazy offense and defense and upset the favorite.
It will be a good final game against Kido/Setiawan, both pairs are the rising young pairs, this could be the preview of one of the Olympics or World Championship finals.

Cheah Soon Kit's partner during 1988 Thomas Cup should be Ong Beng Teong.
DoublesPlayer 10-27-2006, 11:19 PM Thank you ... :)
Finals will start in an hour ... can't wait ...
Anybody knows the line up? The official website hasn't published it.
Cheah Soon Kit's partner during 1988 Thomas Cup should be Ong Beng Teong.
Tjun Tjun 10-27-2006, 11:29 PM I'm happy with the gutsy display by Fairuz-Woon Fui in yesterday's match against Cai Yun/Fu HF. The Malaysian coaches are happy too.
This is what Rexy says in today's papers:
"They showed grit by fighting back after losing the second game. I hope they can continue the same way against Markis and Hendra.
"They must go with the attitude that there is nothing to lose against Markis-Hendra and should be relaxed as they were today (yesterday).
"Fairuz-Woon Fui were good under the 15-point system but they have also made great strides under the 21-point system. They should maintain their progress."
And this is Yap Kim Hock's comments:
"......the important thing is that both showed great fighting spirit. After losing the second game, they kept on encouraging each other and psyched each other up. They did not give up. I am happy with that.”

jiayou Lin Dan :D
Chen Yu is the most gifted of the Chinese men's singles players. Lin Dan's gifts are limited to excellent court IQ, incredible stamina (far above all other men's singles players), and excellent around-the-head foot speed and attacks.
The two are incomparable. Chen Yu's talents are second only to Taufik's and not by much. The only less naturally gifted player than Lin Dan among the top singles players is Chen Jin, who has no redeeming skills; it's amazing how far youth and associated speed, and favouritism will get you these days.

BaddGolfer 10-28-2006, 01:15 AM That was a great match. XXF couldn't match Wang's speed and needed to play an attacking game, which she did after the break in the second game and looked to have taken control of the game only to see a couple of unforced errors and Wang's last push take the match away from her.

Wang YH is much stronger physically than Xie XF. After Wang beat Xie, the coach asked both of them to sit. Xie XF collapsed to the chair, but Wang quickly bounced back from the chair after sitting down, and said, "I don't want to sit, sit will make your body fat accumulating to the butt. I don't want a big fat butt"

suetyan 10-28-2006, 01:32 AM Wang YH is much stronger physically than Xie XF. After Wang beat Xie, the coach asked both of them to sit. Xie XF collapsed to the chair, but Wang quickly bounced back from the chair after sitting down, and said, "I don't want to sit, sit will make your body fat accumulating to the butt. I don't want a big fat butt"
What a lovely girl :D

Where is Simon also? The number 1 Taufik fan(self claimed), indra, insisted many times that Simon would won many titles, other than Taufik. Indonesia used to have many top players, why nowadays, no body even comes close to Taufik. That explains why Taufik never has a good quality of training.

Lin Dan is good at crucial points. So is Taufik. Taufik used to lose to Rony in the training, but always won against Rony in the real tournaments. Chen Yu is good at playing, but not good at winning. Most specifically, winning several crucial points to close the game.

this is the first time i see LD really got pushed and tested to his limit. The blend of speed, power, diving, recovery and accuracy are supremo top notch. Because politican pressure is absence in this match, the win was done purely on technical merit. Since LD is #1 player in china and the world, it would be embarassing to be beaten by a newer and younger team member.

Oh ok, i definitely dont agree on that. 1st of all CY's stamina is definitely weaker than LCW. 2nd, CY's cross court net shot is quite good, doesnt give up easily, but i dont see much strategy in his game and his overall skill is nth too exceptional.

Oh ok, i definitely dont agree on that. 1st of all CY's stamina is definitely weaker than LCW. 2nd, CY's cross court net shot is quite good, doesnt give up easily, but i dont see much strategy in his game and his overall skill is nth too exceptional.

ctjcad 10-28-2006, 03:31 AM ..hmm, if i'm XZB/ZYW now, i would try to focus my attack on Nova, keep him on the defensive and make him create plays...stay away from Lilyana for a while and then attack her on a surprise...remember, Nova is the weak link..Of course, CHN pair has to lessen their errors also...;):p;)
cesc fabrigas 10-28-2006, 03:32 AM yup nova make many mistake
taufik-ist 10-28-2006, 03:32 AM ..it's a whole different system over there in Indonesia, that's why i was surprised taufik-ist was asking and would be happy for a smooth transmission....if you're used to fast speed internet, YOU REALLY DON'T WANT TO BE THERE, trust me, i've been there and came back before...hehe:p ;):) :D
he..he my office use fixed-line internet/internet dedicated via SAT, we are planning to split the bandwith into small pieces (64,128 kb/s) and sell it to the client :), right now we haven't had any client yet :), so i'm still enjoying the high speed internet freely :)
1 MB/s costs $2100/mo, btw it costs only $1500/mo in US
cao ci dan 10-28-2006, 03:34 AM :D :D :D CONGRATULATIONS LIN DAN AGAIN FOR HIS 7TH TITLES THIS YEAR!!:D :D :D

?!?!...hehe, nope, mine also uses fixed-line service...and it only costs abt $50/mo.(Adelphia) and it's on a cable bandwidth..You can even use a regular DSL connection(slightly slower than cable) and still get a smooth transmission..and it costs abt $30-$40/mo....hehe;):p :D
sickgal 10-28-2006, 03:38 AM though tvu has a smaller screen... but definately it runs smoother!!
