View Full Version : Denmark Open 2006: Day 2 (01/11)
badMania 11-01-2006, 03:42 AM The first round matches (8) in XD have been completed for today and not much surprises.
Here's the pick of today's matches in the other events:
MEN'S SINGLES ROUND OF 32
Niels Christian Kaldau vs Wong Choong Hann -- the Danish player is seeded and he should win against the recently recovered Malaysian.
Dicky Palyama vs Anup Sridhar (MATCH OF THE ROUND)
John Moody vs Richard Vaughn
Kendrick Lee Yen Hui vs Hans-Kristian Vitinghus -- a good chance for
Kendrick to reach the quarter-final.
Taufiq Akbar Hidayat vs Przemyslav Wacha -- the Indonesian player has beaten Pei Wei Chung and he has a chance to meet Kenneth Jonassen if he wins today.
Lee Tsuen-Tseng vs Nathan Rice
Jens-Kristian Leth vs Mohd Roslin Hashim -- shouldn't be a difficult match for the Doha bound Malaysian.
Peter Mikkelsen vs Chetan Anand
MEN'S DOUBLES ROUND OF 32
Hendra A. Gunawan/Joko Riyadi vs Lars Paaske/Jonas Rasmussen (MATCH OF THE ROUND) -- what a tough test for Hendra/Joko. It will be a miracle if they can beat the former world champion.
Tan Bin Shen/Ong Soon Hock vs Hendri Kurniawan Saputra/Hendra Wijaya -- the Malaysian pair was once the no 3 pair behind CCM/KKK and CTF/LWW. Now, they are way behind the 2 younger pairs: Fairuz/Lin and Gan/Zakry. Hendri/Hendra should take it!
Rian Sukmawan/Eng Hian vs Ross Smith/Glenn Wharfe -- shouldn't be a problem for the Djarum pair.
WOMEN'S SINGLES ROUND OF 64
Maria Kristin Yulianti vs Rachel Van Cutsen (MATCH OF THE ROUND) -- match is currently underway, with Maria winning the first set 23-21. I hope she can win.
Judith Meulendijks vs Solenn Pasturel.
Fransisca Ratnasari vs Guo Xin -- ditto for Nana, I hope she can pass her first test today.
Diana Dimova vs Wang Lin -- I like the cute and chubby Wang Lin :D I think she will go far in this tournament.
WOMEN'S DOUBLES ROUND OF 32
Gail Emms/Donna Kellogg vs Vita Marissa/Yunita Tetty -- an experimental pairing for the INA players. It will be a miracle as well if they can beat the top seed.
Rani Mundiasti/Endang Nur Sugianti vs Joanna Quay Swee Ling/Lim Pek Siah (MATCH OF THE ROUND) -- a very tough match for the INA pair against the experienced Malaysians. I hope they can win.
Jennie Carlsson/Emma Wengberg vs Jo Novita/Gresya Polii -- with the absence of top pairs, this will be a perfect chance for Jo/Gresya to win their second title of the year. Their only opponents are Pan Pan/Tian Qing and Gail Emms/Donna Kellogg (or Jiang Yanmei/Li Yujia).
badMania 11-01-2006, 03:45 AM Maria Kristin Yulianti has started well as she beat Rachel Van Cutsen in straight sets 23-21, 21-13. She will meet Huang Chia-Chi (who won the NZ Open) tomorrow. The winner will play Jiang Yanjiao.

badMania 11-01-2006, 10:11 AM Oh my....the unknown Chinese player Guo Xin has won in 3 sets.
It's indeed a waste of money sending Nana to play in the Denmark Open and losing in the first round  I think Maria Kristin is playing better than her at the moment!
Baderz_Jas 11-01-2006, 10:12 AM Oh my....the unknown Chinese player Guo Xin has won in 3 sets.

Sandy 11-01-2006, 10:37 AM dunno what happen with her... is she really a national player?

Fransisca wasn't only national player but best WS INA player on Hendrawan's view. I noticed she always have chosen 1st priority in important moment like Sudirman Cup, Asian Games or WC.
Don't ever under estimate for lower ranking WS CHN players. Too much good player in there and waiting be sent to International tournament.
baihaki_as 11-01-2006, 10:42 AM hahaha not a curse to nana acurse to all indonesian woman single

Sandy 11-01-2006, 11:03 AM Are you sure those players, including Guo Xin sent by China national team?
I didn't say Guo Xin was sent by National team, some province players are good too. I remembered XXF started play in International event as province's player when she won Asian Championships Jakarta.
Sorry I'm wrong
I guess Guo Xin is player who play in Badminton League Denmark, she only played in Denmark Open last year.
baihaki_as 11-01-2006, 11:06 AM go go go wch, i hope u win
elwin81 11-01-2006, 11:08 AM both WCH and PG leading 11-4 at 2nd set after they won the 1st.

wl2172 11-01-2006, 11:49 AM 21-7 WCH wins 2nd....yes!!!! congrats
I think someone earlier said that WCH will loose, well WCH is still very good.
byelnats 11-01-2006, 12:00 PM Fransiska's loss is not unpredictable. I think everytime I read a news about her in ANY tournament, she always lose. Best is like third round. The only notable win is during Sudirman Cup against Tine Rasmussen (She is a complete newbie then). If they meet again, I doubt she will beat Rasmussen. Honestly, they way she play does not give any commanding presence at all. She has definitely not lived up to her reputation as no: 1 INA player. I have never watched Maria played, so I can't really comment on her style. Currently I see a player and a pair that have hit the ceiling. One is Fransiska and the other is Luluk/Alvent. Good think Maria can save INA's face.
Anybody knows how old Maria is? I'm guessing something like 19?
nugroho 11-01-2006, 12:02 PM maria kristin is older then fransisca i supposed.
2cents 11-01-2006, 12:04 PM I think someone earlier said that WCH will loose, well WCH is still very good.
No way, Jose. WCH never lose to Kaldau. WCH is several levels above.
How many players other than China team members has won China open?
WCH might be the ONLY ONE!
Everyone knows China players are the best in the world, while Wong CH, he is the one better than the best
byelnats 11-01-2006, 12:04 PM Oh really? She looks pretty young to me.
Wong8Egg 11-01-2006, 12:47 PM 21-7 WCH wins 2nd....yes!!!! congrats
Kaldau is not an easy player, that's something for WCH! way to go!
Good job for PG too!
badMania 11-01-2006, 12:53 PM The top seed Gail Emms/Donna Kellogg have beaten the scratch pairing of Vita Marissa/Yunita Tetty in straight sets 21-13, 21-15.
In the other match, Rani Mundiasti/Endang Nur Sugianti are leading 21-16, 12-8 against Joanna Quay Swee Ling/Lim Pek Siah.
LazyBuddy 11-01-2006, 12:59 PM 21-7 WCH wins 2nd....yes!!!! congrats

badMania 11-01-2006, 01:00 PM Rani Mundiasti/Endang Nur Sugianti have won the match 21-16, 21-16 and will meet Ekatarina Ananina/Anastasia Russkhikh tomorrow for a place in the QF.
badMania 11-01-2006, 01:18 PM A good start by the no 2 seed, Jo Novita/Gresya Polii as they took the first set 21-11.
badMania 11-01-2006, 01:31 PM Jo Novita/Gresya Polii won with ease 21-11, 21-14. Up next is an Indian pair who has troubled Jiang Yanmei/Li Yujia last week. It won't be an easy match tomorrow
wl2172 11-01-2006, 03:19 PM Kaldau is not an easy player, that's something for WCH! way to go!
Good job for PG too!
We need WCH back!!! LCW alone cannot shoulder all as Hafiz and KBH still not there yet.
Roslin is also still quite strong, plus his recent stint in Denmark training with some of the best players in the world can only do him good.
Baderz_Jas 11-01-2006, 05:00 PM 21-7 WCH wins 2nd....yes!!!! congrats
yeah, go WCH, boleh! :D and PG as well :D
yannie 11-01-2006, 05:21 PM Rexy: is NOT in Aarhus...

keep us update.
How is WCH, look very sharp on court?
How about KJ?
Sandy 11-01-2006, 05:51 PM Oh really? She looks pretty young to me.
Maria is 21 y.o., Firda & Fransisca are 20.
Looking pic on Bitburger, Maria isn't much different with I saw her in Sudirman 2003, she looked younger than her age.
X Ball 11-01-2006, 07:38 PM After a long lay-off, WCH must be feeling fresh and eager. It is good to start with playing the 'minnows of badminton' and winning - with two wins, it gives him confidence to deal with PG. Let us hope he will be mean and not give up easy.
qwertyu 11-02-2006, 02:37 AM A great start for sure. More to come, WCH! ;)
How nice if WCH did not injured himself in Thomas Cup. The 3rd single should be Malaysia's in Semi-final.
cao ci dan 11-02-2006, 03:54 AM How nice if WCH did not injured himself in Thomas Cup. The 3rd single should be Malaysia's in Semi-final.
and it will be Mas vs. Chn in final...:)
