Smash City thanks and review

Ok, so I had a little bit of time around noon, so I headed out to Smash City to play a bit, esp. since my hotel is very close to there.

The pictures that I've seen looked really impressive and I was eager to try out the terraform, or whatever flooring...

There wasn't many people, but I did get some ok games in. Thanks to all that I played with, I was the guy with orange highlights that came from Toronto... everyone as usual now, was very friendly.

I have to say however, that only after playing 1hr, my knees started to ache... I realized that the floor is on top of concrete, very different compared to Bintang, which is on at least 2 layers of wood... where my knees were fine even after playing 4 hours...

Aside from that, the facilities were very good, with lighting, maybe a tad on the bright side...

i totally agree with you about the cement thing. before i played there with my old shoes that were like woren out and it was like death. i havent been there in a while though. but yea, besides that , everything is good.

Being only a teen, I haven't had to deal with those problems, so I think it's quite good. As for the lighting, there may be lots of lights, but if you notice carefully (This has been mentioned somewhere else), the lights are positioned over the gaps between courts instead of directly above them, so the likelihood to stare straight at them is reduced.

As for the players that play there, it varies from time to time, and also which day. I heard that some of the best players in the US go there on Thursday or Friday night, I can't remember which. Hope you find some good matches!

Thanks for the review. I can't wait to go up north and play at all the nice badminton gyms up there: Smash City, Bintang, GGBC, UBC. :D You guys and gals are really fortunate.

On another note, I prefer brighter than dimmer lighting. :p SGVBC is a tad on the dim side, wish they would brighten things up a bit. :D

Ahhh, you should try out VRC next year :cool:. We are eagerly awaiting for you, Ba, Nick and coach Alex's arrival :D. Heck, bring the whole gang up to the GWN!!!
