Women's team

Group W
Completed: CHN 5 MAS 0
0900 INA v CHN
1700 INA v MAS
Big fight for second place tonight. INA may throw the match against CHN to come up fresh against MAS. 50-50.

Group X
Completed: THA 3 HKG 2
0900 SIN v THA
1700 SIN v HKG
Difficult to tell. I think THA will beat SIN. But hard to seperate between SIN and HKG. Both don't have much depth. Wang Chen should take 1st game. Yippy v Xing? 50-50. 1st doubles SIN should take though Jang/Li. No idea about the other two matches.

Group Y
Completed: JPN 3 KOR 2
0900 TPE v JPN
1700 TPE v KOR
I predict JPN to clinch top spot and KOR second.

Men's team

Group A
Completed: CHN 5 IND 0, INA 5 IND 0
1300 INA v CHN
China big advantage in 2nd, 3rd singles and also 1st doubles. Lin Dan v Taufik hugely anticipated, but I think even a Taufik win here will not see hs team through.

Group B
Completed: KOR 4 VIE 1, THA 4 VIE 1
1300 THA v KOR
The strength of Korean doubles should see them through.

Group C
Completed: MAS 5 JPN 0, JPN 5 HKG 0
1300 HKG v MAS
Seems straight-forward. MAS to top group and JPN second.

badMania

A very disappointing first set for Jo/Greysia....losing 11-21. They won't beat Wong/Chin with this kind of performance:cool:

Ethan
12-02-2006, 12:42 AM
the INA pair comminting a lot of mistakes now. 6-3 CHN.

Jessica
12-02-2006, 12:43 AM
Just hope Mas women team can beat the Indo team later...Actually is a advantage for mas coz Indo team have to play two time in a day...Now china later Mas...

Ethan
12-02-2006, 12:45 AM
9-4 CHN smashed into the net again
9-5 CHN pressure from INA
10-5 CHN nice crosscourt shot on the line
11-5 CHN into the net again...

badMania

A disastrous second set
The Chinese pair got 12 consecutive points to go from 9-5 to win it 21-5
Both Jo Novita and Greysia Polii made lots of mistakes with net and out returns...they were not even trying in the later stages....probably to conserve strategy for the more important clash against Wong/Chin later on?

Ethan

RTM returns with swimming, so have to be content with the website update, and so far, they are doing a very brilliant job.

Ethan
12-02-2006, 12:56 AM
Meanwhile, CHENG Shao Chieh bt MORI Kaori 21-17,13-21,21-19,
so 1-0 for CT

Ethan
12-02-2006, 12:59 AM
Was wondering why the order of the tie between CT vs JPN is
WS1
WS2
WS3
WD2
WD1

Chien Yu Chin is playing in WD1 and WS3. If they follow the standard
WS1
WD1
WS2
WD2
WS3
She will have more rest right ?

Firda's right leg is heavily strapped. She still looks to be affected by the injury she got during the Dutch Open Final. I hope she can conserve her energy for the must-win point against Julia Wong later on.

Ethan
12-02-2006, 01:09 AM
XXF won the first game 21-13, while Eriko Hirose leading the fightback 9-7.

Overall, some nice points by Firda...but Xie Xingfang made it 3-0 with a 21-13, 21-13 victory.

RCTI (INA tv stat) only broadcasts Semifinal and Final stage, so dissapointing. What if Ina team doesn't make it to semifinal? What a waste!

Does anybody know why Firda is put as second single? coz according to the current world rank firda's rank is higher than nana.

Sigh....it was very tight at the end of the second set till the score was 17-17. Then, the more experienced Chinese pair got 3 consecutive points to lead 20-17. Butet/Lita can only get 1 more point as they lost 18-21.

Neverthess, I think INA SHOULD win the second women's doubles against Malaysia.

Two nice smashes by Pia makes it 7-8.

9-11 for Zhu Lin. Go Pia

badMania
12-02-2006, 02:12 AM
Pia's net play needs to be improved...but....she looks very confident indeed.

12-13 Zhu still leads the game

13-16 for Zhu Lin. Cmon Pia!!!

badMania

Yet another cross-court shot made it 13-16 for Pia.

whatsoever
12-02-2006, 02:19 AM
Pia lost the first set.

whatsoever
12-02-2006, 02:20 AM
2-0 pia leads the second game.

whatsoever
12-02-2006, 02:21 AM
3-1 for Pia. Ayo dong!!!!

badMania
12-02-2006, 02:21 AM
Zhu Lin took the first set 21-15. The GDTV commentator mentioned that Pia is similar to Mia Audina in both playing style and appearance. No wonder, back in Indo, they call Pia the next Mia

whatsoever
12-02-2006, 02:22 AM
5-2 still Pia leads. GOOOOOOO!!!!

whatsoever
12-02-2006, 02:22 AM
5-6 now Zhu leads.

whatsoever
12-02-2006, 02:24 AM
6-9 for Zhu Lin.

whatsoever
12-02-2006, 02:26 AM
10-11 for Zhu. Pia is a Very promising player

whatsoever
12-02-2006, 02:27 AM
11-12 Zhu still leads.

whatsoever
12-02-2006, 02:29 AM
maybe Pia got used to Wang Yihan's style of play, that's why she can play against zhu. 13-17 for zhu.

badMania
12-02-2006, 02:30 AM
When will the WS lineup become:
Pia Zebadiah
Sylvinna Kurniawan
Bellaetrix Manuputty

Then, the WS will probably have some hope...

whatsoever
12-02-2006, 02:32 AM
Zhu Lin won 21-15, 21-18.

badMania
12-02-2006, 02:34 AM
All over for INA as China won 5-0. BUT, Pia Zebadiah does show some promising display. Her cross-court shots troubled Zhu Lin in the first set.

whatsoever
12-02-2006, 02:35 AM
It's 5-0 for China team. Will it be 3-2 for Ina against Malaysia? or 2-3 for Malaysia?

Jessica
12-02-2006, 03:06 AM
Lee Chong Wei won't be playing today when against Hong Kong...The first single is Hafiz Hashim followed by Kuan Beng Hong and Wong Choong Hann...The two pair doubles play as usual...LCW is going to conserve some energy when they meet korea tomorrow...Another interesting matches between indo and china...Lin Dan and taufik going to meet again...Lets see who is more powerful...

byelnats
12-02-2006, 03:20 AM
That performance of Pia is certainly promising, but personally I think chinese ladies are still too strong. Zhu Lin is only like...what...3rd single on the team? There is still Wang Yihan too. But hey, no empire lasts forever, right?

Malaysia's prospect is seriously compromised now if hafiz can't play normally let alone brilliantly. KBH is still to prove himself in high pressure conditions. LWF/MF is not top class yet. KKK/TBH is quite a raw although very big potential. Then if Malaysia clash against either INA or CHN, Chong Wei's point is just 50-50. So much for being the second seed.

I think the only player who has beaten Lin Dan this year are Lee Choong Wei and Chen Hong at the China Open right or was it Bao Chunlai? Lin Dan, in my opinion, has the strongest mental strength as he almost always best our other three great players: Taufik Hidayat, Peter Gade, & Lee Choong Wei.

At the moment, the defeat is probably not that costly as it was expected that INA will lose anyway. The more important match will come in the individual event. Kido/Hendra have to stop Fu/Cai from gaining cheap points like in the first and third set when they raced ahead 5-6 points in a row.

Wow, Sigapore girls steamrolled Thai girls by 4-0.

But they had to play another tough matches later against Hkg.

ABF sucks!

How come Singapore and Taiwan girls had to play twice in a day? These 2 teams had equal chances to beat their opponent in their groups if they play separate days.

At least Singapore already win Thailand if they lost 3-2 to Hkg they will be the group winner.

But Taiwan must win against Korea to become runner up group.

ABF should hire new people to scheduling the matches. They can learn from football which already play before AG officialy open. Badminton also can do that. Lets say a week before AG started to give players suitable rest?
