this Asian Games' tv coverage is mediocre at best.
somehow, i managed to catch a live match between Taufik vs a Viet player in the men's singles during the wee hours of last night on Ch5. pure luck. but it was a refreshing twist from the usual broadcasts which feature Singaporean contestants. but let's face it: Singapore might be strong medal-hopefuls in Sailing, but would you want to watch it 'live'? give me Ally McBeal anytime! (yucks)
things are made worse by the total absence of coverage by the SCV sports channels.
Let's just pray hard that Singapore badminton players go all the way to the finals so that it gives us mere mortals the faintest glimpse of hope of being able to watch our favourite game on TV.

I watched li li vs a tapei player a few nights before
she was kinda cute, smiling after making a big big error

omgggggggggg.............anyone saw how xing aiying just lost to korea's hwang?? the darned line judge gave a bad call against xing and awarded hwang a crucial equalizer.
anyway xing did the most outrageous backhand cross court net shot i seen in my life in the final set.
apart from that, the shorter xing appeared to be strained in the 3rd set and couldn't take the long lobs early enough. both players seemed to lose their width judgement and kept taking shots that were obviously wide.......but well.......i thought she was gonna get another medal.........too bad but great fight put up.

xing aiying was doing great, just that she took quite a number of risks and did not turn out well, like there was once the shuttle went to her backhand but she took the chance and bent over to use a forehand but failed.
still I like Li-Li more

Astro in Malaysia have 4 channels covering the Asian Games. I don't know why sports coverage in Singapore is generally weak. Even have to pay extra for the World Cup.

I know why, because they will never cover sports that we lost, did not do well or did not participate. Even its the soccer world cup you realise that they only show the finals. And before i went into badminton i thought the only major tournament was the olympics but there are others just that the media didnt cover it because we lost.
the one featuring xing aiying was because the media thought she would win for sure seeing her performance in the first set, but she lost in the 2nd and 3rd set. and the commentator was awfully noisy when i watched the match

i dont think its possible to have talent, with all that stress living in singapore, you might never be on form lol. seriously its stressful to live here,
but if the players are commited im sure they can do it

the foreign import scheme kills all the local talent.

Singapore is just a small small island. If you know about probability, you should know it's not easy to have sports talent in Singapore.
Hard work + Talent = Champion
Without talent, one only can be a good player. That explains why Singapore needs foreign import scheme.

i dont believe in such things, why cant talent be born in a smaller country? or is it the lack of commitment, or lack of opportunity to receive training

will singapore channels be airing any badminton games tonight? though the media normally covers sports where singapore has medal potential in (like bodybuilding yesterday) no matter how boring it may be. sorry but i really do think that they should air something more exciting.

It's possible but the chance will be very small. Maybe Singapore can have 1 champion in 10 years but China may have 1000 talents in one year. This is the reality.
Well, let's wait and see :)

basically foreign import scheme = faster way to get medals.
after 4-5 years, i cant even see the result yet.
