View Full Version : AG2006 - Dec 6 - Individual Events Day 2
2cents 12-05-2006, 03:18 PM On men's singles:
qt 1) Lin Dan; Ng Wei; Santoso Simon; Nguyen TM
qt 2) Lee HI; Hafiz
qt 3) Taufik H; Bao CL
qt 4) Lee CW
It seems Lee CW gets the best draw. If Nguyen TM enters semifinal, it is just a repeat what he did in the team event.
Nguyen > Lee HI > Lin Dan > Taufik > Boonsak
Nguyen > Lee HI > Lee CW > Sato
Nguyen > Boonsak
On men's doubles
qt 1) Fu/Cai; Lee/Hwang; Koo/Tan; PRAPAKAMOL/NGENSRISUK
qt 2) Kido/Setiawan
qt 3) Hadiyanto/Chandra; Guo/Zheng; Lin/Tazari
qt 4) Lee/Jung
It seems that Kido/Setiawan and Lee/Jung will cruise to the semifinal without any problem. Any one of Fu/Cai, Lee/Hwang, and Koo/Tan come out from qt1 is not a surprise. Either Guo/Zheng or Lin/Tazari sound better than Hadiyanto/Chandra.
Both number 1 seeds in singles and doubles (Lin Dan and Fu/Cai) are in the most competitive quarters.
2cents 12-06-2006, 12:09 AM The only unbeatable 1st men's single in team event NGUYEN T. M. is fighting with SANTOSO S. (the only player could be better than Taufik in the eye of indra ;)) It seems true that Simon has no problem to beat the best 1st single. Simon is leading in the 2nd game with 1:0 in total games.
SAPKULCHANANART P. from Thailand, who beat Korea's 2nd stringer Park in the team event, won easily in the first round.
2cents 12-06-2006, 12:24 AM but Nguyen rallies from behind, takes the lead in the 2nd game. 17:16
2cents 12-06-2006, 12:31 AM it's close, simon won finally, took 3 points in a row, came from behind 21:19. Good job, Simon.
indra 12-06-2006, 12:33 AM but Nguyen rallies from behind, takes the lead in the 2nd game. 17:16
SImon won 21-16, 21-19.:D Very easy warming up...tomorrow will be Simon's next warming up against LD....
virusvoodoo 12-06-2006, 12:36 AM it's close, simon won finally, took 3 points in a row, came from behind 21:19. Good job, Simon.
Damn, I would have expected this match to be a three-setter but I guess Nguyen Tien Minh does not know Simon's style and therefore he was not able to effectively counter Simon's strategies.
2cents 12-06-2006, 12:39 AM SImon won 21-16, 21-19.:D Very easy warming up...tomorrow will be Simon's next warming up against LD....
The question is whether Simon can beat Ng Wei first, and Lindan beat Thai #2 first.
There is still a chance even Ng Wei vs Thai #2  who knows.
But it is sure now, Lee HI and Hafiz will beat their opponents easily in the round of 32.
2cents 12-06-2006, 12:40 AM it's close, simon won finally, took 3 points in a row, came from behind 21:19. Good job, Simon.
Sigh :crying: :crying: :crying: for the death of the only unbeatable in the team events.
virusvoodoo 12-06-2006, 12:43 AM SImon won 21-16, 21-19.:D Very easy warming up...tomorrow will be Simon's next warming up against LD....
LOL...look who's back to give us more rediculous trashtalks!
So are you proud of your hero, Taufik Hidayat, who lost twice to Lin Dan already? I wonder what is your excuse for him this time, my dear Indra?
By the way, I am not trying to defend Nguyen Tien Minh's loss but a score of 21-16 and 21-19 is fairly close.
Dee06 12-06-2006, 12:47 AM What time will LCW be playing? I do not appear to see his name or Lin Dan's in today's schedule. Am I missing something?
indra 12-06-2006, 12:54 AM So are you proud of your hero, Taufik Hidayat, who lost twice to Lin Dan already? I wonder what is your excuse for him this time, my dear Indra?

The group format is "very ridiculous"...INA was "robbed" by the wierd group format....Anyhow, what is done is done:D
The real competition will be in the individual one....

Hmmm... I thought you said the group format hurt China more than Indonesia, as Indonesia was going to dominate China... You sure change your mind rather quickly...:p:p
BTW, is Indonesia still going to win at least 4 badminton gold metals this Asian game???

bananaboy 12-06-2006, 01:11 AM Indra, you are the best this forum has to offer!!! That's the best joke I have heard for so long... Nana to beat XXF and ZN to win women's singles!!!:D:D:D
LYB will go nuts if that ever happens in this AG...LOL:D
badMania 12-06-2006, 01:14 AM Indra, you are the best this forum has to offer!!! That's the best joke I have heard for so long... Nana to beat XXF and ZN to win women's singles!!!:D:D:D
LYB will go nuts if that ever happens in this AG...LOL:D
Well...Nana will only win in Indra's dreamland
2 golds is the maximum that Team INA will possibly get. It's not even certain whether Kido/Hendra could beat Fu/Cai yet again or Nova/Butet beating Zheng/Gao
bananaboy 12-06-2006, 01:17 AM Well...Nana will only win in Indra's dreamland

Much more logical prediction once again... but I honestly would love to see Indra's prediction on the women's singles come true... I would laugh so hard and praise Indra for his superior intelligence!!!:p
2cents 12-06-2006, 01:18 AM Taufik is in trouble ... :(

Dude...u claimed in your previous post that INA would crush all opponents including China, regardless of the draw  Apparently...it was not to be and now u claimed that INA was "robbed". How could this happen when almost every player (except maybe Luluk/Alvent) were trying their best.
I think this was the closest match between Taufik vs Lin Dan. He could have won the first set. Simon was also possibly at his best as he nearly snatched the victory in the first set as well. I think the key is that the Chinese players seem to be more adapt at clinching the crucial points (when ithe scores were 16-12 for Taufik and 18-16 for Simon).
As for Luluk/Alvent.....everyone seemed to think that they have an absolute advantage of Guo/Xie, when in fact they have not beaten the Chinese pair for more than a year now.
So, I would think that overall, there's an improvement from Team INA. But, they need to replace the second doubles and stop relying on Taufik if they were to regain the Thomas Cup.
bananaboy 12-06-2006, 01:20 AM Taufik is in trouble ... :(
Meaning Bao is winning???
2cents 12-06-2006, 01:22 AM Well...Nana will only win in Indra's dreamland
the 4th gold indra pointed out was Nana which means None
2cents 12-06-2006, 01:29 AM Taufik was 11:16 in the 1st game against Hoang, then 21:18 took the 1st game. Now 7:6 in the 2nd
Meaning Bao is winning???
X Ball 12-06-2006, 01:33 AM Given that LD also lost to LHI, the loss by LCW to LHI cannot be considered as bad. Obviously, LHI stepped up considerably --- but will he be able to do it again to both players ?
2cents 12-06-2006, 01:34 AM Taufik was 11:16 in the 1st game against Hoang, then 21:18 took the 1st game. Now 7:6 in the 2nd
okay Taufik advanced as expected.

There is a big difference here: LCW had a day of rest prior to his match with LHI... LD fought TH twice prior to his match with LHI. LD lost 1-2, LCW lost 0-2... LCW better wake up on the right side of the bed everyday until the end of this AG, or someone from BAM will take the fall.:p
Ai Mei 12-06-2006, 01:57 AM Go Bao!!! Go Bao!!!! JiaYou Bao..........hope he can beat TH....>.<
hehehe.....
Go Simon...do your best...............!!!

...having his heart throbbed relentlessly watching the Semis between INA vs. CHN...probably it's already a form of exercise and he wants to go thru it all over again...*sigh*..never a dull moment for indra. ..:p ;)
indra 12-06-2006, 02:50 AM the 4th gold indra pointed out was Nana which means None
Yes...None Nana [In Indonesian [Jakarta's dialect] it means Ms. Nana]:D
saugusli 12-06-2006, 02:56 AM So I am happy that LYI beat the arrogant player (Lin Dan).... HAAAA

taufik-ist 12-06-2006, 05:52 AM yes... alven/marrisa took the 1st set
they are not bad....
sihar 12-06-2006, 05:58 AM they lead 14-11 now...
badMania 12-06-2006, 06:04 AM Some interesting ties in the ROUND OF 16 matches:
MS
Ng Wei vs Simon Santoso (MATCH OF THE ROUND) -- Simon has a tough match in store. However, I think he should beat Ng Wei (possibly in 3 sets) and play against Lin Dan tomorrow.
Mohd Hafiz Hashim vs Sho Sasaki -- Hafiz has been in yo-yo mood in the past few days. The Japanese player could be another tricky match for him. The winner will face a tough encounter against Lee Hyun Il, who has an easy match.
Taufik Hidayat vs Park Sung Hwan -- on paper, Taufik should be superior...but...the Korean player can surprise us.
Ronald Susilo vs Bao Chunlai -- it's a pity that Ronald is drawn quite early against Bao. The Chinese should advance to meet Taufik in another mouth-watering clash tomorrow.
Shoji Sato vs Lee Chongwei -- also a tricky match for LCW. He has beaten the Jap a few days ago...and he should advance for another meeting with Boonsak Ponsana.
WS
Kaori Mori vs Xing Aiying -- the Jap should win.
Lee Yun Hwa vs Wong Mew Choo (MATCH OF THE ROUND) -- the Malaysian player should advance to the quarter-final.
Saina Nehwal vs Eriko Hirose -- again, the Jap has the edge over the WJ runner-up.
badMania 12-06-2006, 06:12 AM XD
Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir vs Wong Wai Hong/Ng Ka Shun -- a breeze for the top seed.
Songphon Anukritayawon/Kunchala Voravichitchaikul vs Zheng Bo/Gao Ling -- the Chinese should take it!
Lee Jae Jin/Lee Hyo Jung vs Tsai Chia-Hsing/Cheng Wen-Hsing -- the Korean pair has been on absence for quite some time...and this should be a good match for their warm-up.
Hendri Kurniawan Saputra/Li Yujia vs Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari/Wong Pei Tty -- should be an interesting match...but..the Singaporean pair should win.
Hendra Wijaya/Frances Liu Fan vs Koo Kien Keat/Joanna Quay Swee Ling -- another Singapore vs Malaysia clash...and this time, the Malaysian pair should win.
Alvent Yulianto/Vita Marissa vs Lee Yong Dae/Hwang Yu Mi (MATCH OF THE ROUND) -- a tough match...and Vita's experience will be crucial against the young pair of Lee/Hwang. The Korean has an edge.
sihar 12-06-2006, 06:13 AM they won the second set too...
good start
nugroho 12-06-2006, 07:29 AM i did not know that a pair from India could take a game from honkang pair
nugroho 12-06-2006, 07:29 AM they even beat beat the hongkong pair quite badly 21-13, 21-10
zqloy 12-06-2006, 07:37 AM There is a big difference here: LCW had a day of rest prior to his match with LHI... LD fought TH twice prior to his match with LHI. LD lost 1-2, LCW lost 0-2... LCW better wake up on the right side of the bed everyday until the end of this AG, or someone from BAM will take the fall.:p
Well, i see no difference here. Although LCW lost he still lost narrowly 21-19 for both sets. When u lost u lost, its just your opponent played better. There is no excuses like losing better or losing worse :p.
My opinion, YKH should hv the fare share of the blame for looking out down on LHI, and thinking it will be a sure win for LCW. Resting LCW during the quarters when facing HK is a bad call. He has played 1 match only b4 meeting LHI, he might be rusty.
bic33 12-06-2006, 07:55 AM the draw is really bad for simon... he has to play a fancied NTM.. and now he faces NG wei... after NG wei, it would be LD... it will really be a tough test for the INA youngster...

badMania 12-06-2006, 09:19 AM Sigh...Simon is still inconsistent. He lost easily to Ng Wei in straight sets 18-21, 13-21. Ng Wei even had a 10-1 lead in the second set
Baderz_Jas 12-06-2006, 10:05 AM QF- MEN'S SINGLES
LIN DAN (CHN) vs NG WEI (HKG)
MUHAMMAD HAFIZ HASHIM (MAS) vs LEE HYUN ILL (KOR)- The Korean is doing well, he prepared well  lol :D
TAUFIK HIDAYAT (INA) vs BAO CHUNLAI (CHN)- I don't think TH will have enough to beat BCL
LEE CHONG WEI (MAS) vs BOONSAK PONSANA (THA)
DoublesPlayer 12-06-2006, 10:21 AM Agree with you, but I have a feeling that TH will win, it would be a tight match if TH fights all-out. BCL has been very consistent, but TH must win.
Hopefully this match will be on-air, and someone would record it. :)

DoublesPlayer 12-06-2006, 10:23 AM They should've played Sony instead, poor Sony, he's been there idle as he was the third single in the team event.
I think Simon's career won't last for too long.
Sigh...Simon is still inconsistent. He lost easily to Ng Wei in straight sets 18-21, 13-21. Ng Wei even had a 10-1 lead in the second set

hcpoirot 12-06-2006, 11:16 AM @indra, your dream for Indonesia to win 4 gold already out!
In WS, both Nana and Firda lost today.
Nana lost to ZN. (we already predicted it)
But Firda lost to Lee Yun Hwa who she beat in team event is really sad.
Joel_y 12-06-2006, 11:17 AM I agree with you, except that Lee HI will almost surely beat Hafiz...So I modified the prediction to:
Men Singles
Quarter Finals
LIN DAN (Chn) vs NG WEI (Hkg)

TAUFIK HIDAYAT (Ina) vs BAO CHUNLAI (Chn)

TAUFIK HIDAYAT (Ina) vs LEE CHONG WEI (Mas)
Finals
LIN DAN (Chn) vs TAUFIK HIDAYAT (Ina)
Champion: LIN DAN (Chn)
hcpoirot 12-06-2006, 11:19 AM For TH, I wonder what excused he can give right now?
In R16 now he face Park Sung Hwan.
Now the score is 21-18, (THwin) 19-21 (he lost) and 3 set lead 10-7.
Really strage considering TH had a day off yesterday and PSH had to fight three sets against CJ yesterday.
If TH win today, I wonder how about tomorrow match with possibly BCL?
bananaboy 12-06-2006, 11:19 AM I think Simon's career won't last for too long.
I wonder what Indra was thinking when he read what you wrote here...:p
hcpoirot 12-06-2006, 11:21 AM Mean while Lee Yun Hwa managed to play three set with WMC and she lead the last set 6-4.
Maybe the KOrean girls got motivated after seeing the boys fight in final against China.
hcpoirot 12-06-2006, 11:22 AM TH-PSH 12-10
Who will had more energy left? TH or PSH?
Indra probably praying really hard now :D
madbad 12-06-2006, 11:23 AM Park is givng TH all he can handle. Close 3rd game so far. As for Simon, well... say no more, steamrolled by Ng Wei.

Naw, He's working on his next prediction i bet;)
hcpoirot 12-06-2006, 11:25 AM What a tense moment! (For TH fans)
After reaching 14-11, PSH managed to catch 2 points to 14-13 for TH.
DoublesPlayer 12-06-2006, 11:27 AM A tight game for TH, but he should win.
TH's chance against BCL tomorrow - if he wins today - is 49 - 51 for BCL, but I hope he would win, well, he will have to beat PSH first today, although he's strugling to close the game with a win.
For TH, I wonder what excused he can give right now?

hcpoirot 12-06-2006, 11:30 AM TH win with 21-17 in last set.
hcpoirot 12-06-2006, 11:31 AM Mas fans will be crying a river now cause Lee YH lead 19-12 to WMC now. Only a miracle can save WMC now!
hcpoirot 12-06-2006, 11:32 AM Yep its all over for WMC lost in third set with 12-21.
madbad 12-06-2006, 11:32 AM Wow that was close. TH's experience probably won it for him in the end.
WMC in trouble down 16-11. Oops, it's all over now 21-12
DoublesPlayer 12-06-2006, 11:32 AM The title of this thread is kind of confusing, individual events are not in the quarterfinal until tomorrow.
DoublesPlayer 12-06-2006, 11:36 AM Thanks for updating the thread's title
So, it seems like there is no live broadcasting today, how about tomorrow?
DoublesPlayer 12-06-2006, 11:41 AM RS is playing BCL now, BCL leading 6 -5 in the first game
kaylee 12-06-2006, 11:58 AM BCL took first game 21-15.

kaylee 12-06-2006, 12:11 PM ...and RS takes 2nd game 21-17.
good to see that there's a fight at least....
ye333 12-06-2006, 12:14 PM It's too early to say it's BCL... :D Susilo is doing well so far. Remember this guy is among the few who has beaten LD before!

DoublesPlayer 12-06-2006, 12:27 PM 17 - 12 for BCL now

DoublesPlayer 12-06-2006, 12:29 PM BCL won it 21 - 15, 17 - 21, 21 - 14, congrats ...
Here I come TH ... get ready to create a new thread tomorrow, either:
