2007 Badminton World Ranking : Favorable to journey man/woman player, give harder way to the newcomer.

Some changing will be hapenned in badminton tour on next 2007 season. I agree with limited player number 32 players/pair in Super Series or 32/24/16 players/pair in Grand Prix. It will be avoid the players to play 2 round in a day. Badminton will be more interesting to watch, beside from some broadcaster also some sport betting website (Some people will be pulled in to follow badminton results although they aren't badminton fans).

The accepted committed players list will be stricter in every tournament. BWF must more concern to New world ranking.
Watching the proposal of New Ranking, I didn't see any changing only the points have made bigger.

I took Ranking Points for Super Series (32 players in Man Draw) :

Winner : 5500
2nd : 4675 (0.85 x Winner)
SF : 3850 (0.70 x Winner)
QF : 3025 (0.55 x Winner)
R-2 : 2160 (0.39 x Winner)
R-1 : 1335 (0.24 x Winner)

Qual-F : 528 (0.096 x Winner)
Qual-SF: 261 (0.047 x Winner)
Qual-R8: 103 (0.018 x Winner)
Qual-R16: 51 (0.009 x Winner)
Qual-R32: 25 (0.005 x Winner)

It showed that a players who lost in R-1 will get 1335 pts almost same with Internaional series winner 1500 pts.
I called "Journey Man/Woman" to some players who play a lot of tournament and has results mostly in R-1 or R-2 depend on "Lucky" draw.
The "new" ranking points will give the advantage to this kind players, while some newcomer/junior players will play hardly in Qualifying Round and get very small points. A sport which have lack of new star is boring.

Points earned ratio for 2nd winner to R-1 players too bigger. Need more appreciation pts to the winner & the qualifiers.
Top-5 or top-10 of World Ranking showed real achievement for some players but when we saw Top 20-30 mostly were placed by some players who play a lot of tournament.

For comparation I took WTA Ranking Points in tennis

Tier I $1m (32 MD)

Winner : 430
2nd : 300 (0.70 x Winner)
SF : 195 (0.45 x Winner)
QF : 110 (0.26 x Winner)
R-2 : 60 (0.14 x Winner)
R-1 : 1 (0.002 x Winner)

Qual : 20 (0.047 x Winner)
Qual-F : 15 (0.035 x Winner)
Qual-R2: 10 (0.023 x Winner)
Qual-R1: 1 (0.002 x Winner)

Qualifier got Qual Ranking pts + Main Draw Ranking pts exception Lucky Looser get ranking points the biggest pts of Qual or MD Ranking pts.

Just my opinion (to give more appreciation pts to the winner and some qualifiers who play hardly so the badminton's tournament will be more progressive and competitive)

Ranking Points for Super Series (32 players in Man Draw) :

Winner : 5500
2nd : 3850 (0.70 x Winner)
SF : 2475 (0.45 x Winner)
QF : 1375 (0.25 x Winner)
R-2 : 825 (0.15 x Winner)
R-1 : 100 (0.018 x Winner)

Qual : 275 (0.050 x Winner)
Qual-F : 195 (0.035 x Winner)
Qual-R2: 150 (0.027 x Winner)
Qual-R1: 100 (0.018 x Winner)

Qualifier got Qual Ranking pts + Main Draw Ranking pts, Lucky Looser get ranking points the biggest pts of Qual or MD Ranking pts (if any Lucky Looser in Badminton).
Others Categories tournament could be counted with same ratio.

I also concern about Drawing, please change it to be held on place of tournament on Saturday or Sunday before tournament started.
Centralize & Computerize Drawing tend to give some advantage to host's player or team, looked the incident of Thailand's Sudirman Cup withdrew or WJC Incheon and AG 2006. Drawing was held centralize and invited some delegation, if you couldn't come you got bad draw. It's against to "fair play" in sport.
Drawing also held too early and too big risky to Re Re Re Drawing of some players withdrew.
