Hi everyone
1. Generally, what's a good offensive singles or doubles racket for a beginner-intermediate player?

2. Are there any Korean Badminton racket brands out there that are good?

Thanks for your help.

1. Yonex Musclepower 23

2. Why limit yourself to just Korean racquets?

The only Korean brand I know of is JooBong. There were LIBA racquets for a while there when Lee Jae-bok was back in Korea for a time but I don't think they kept the production going for long. The Koren MMoa website would seem to indicate that it was a Korean company but the Taiwan website and several members on this forum insist it is Taiwanese.

JooBong (http://www.joobong.com/) has some okay racquets. I haven't used one in a while but I remember liking the one I had, although I thought it a little fragile. It was the only racquet I'd ever broken without a mid-air collision. Hardly a representative sample, though.

I guess Atemi (http://www.starsports.co.kr/product/prd_detail.asp?categoryid=배드민턴>배드민턴라켓&prd_keyword=&prd=badminton&plan_prd=&sort=&page=1) is a Korean brand, too. It seems to be a high-end line of the budget sporting goods manufacturer Star. They make everything, though. Not a dedicated badminton company like JooBong. They don't even specialize in racquet sports.

Carlton seems to only exist in Korea nowadays, though that hardly makes it a Korean company. Carlton Korea is the only subsidiary left that attempts to promote the company. That is, unless you count whatever trust fund is still paying the English players to wear the logo of a company that no longer maintains a website or develops new products.

Either way, I doubt whether you'll find a racquet that is actually made in Korea. I think they are all made in Taiwan or China. Check it out, though.

The MP23 might be too flex for an offensive player. The MP28 is medium stiff and even balanced so you should be able to generate more power. The MP28 also comes in 3U while the MP23, if I remember right, only comes in 2U so it will be it slower on defense.

If you want to go stiffer, there is always the SOTX Woven-8.

nah, carlton is still promoted in the uk, especially since they sponsor robertson, emms and clark.

and they still have "development" going on.
check http://www.bbeshop.com/racket_carlton.htm for a whole whack load of new racquets that i never even heard of! and i'm an avid follower and user of carlton!!! :o

however it is very possible that these are simply "relabelled" dunlop or slazenger designs, since they're all run from the same office...

I'm very sorry to have sent this thread so far off topic. The comment about Carlton being Korean was blatant hyperbole, prompted only by the fact that the only remaining company website is the Korean one and the fact that there was a news story recently about the president of Carlton Korea. This evidence of a company structure does not translate into products, as you can see if you look at the ancient stuff on the Korean website.

I wanted a Korean racket because I know of their scarce value and since everyone is using Victor, Yonex, Kason, etc... I wanted to be unique. In the end though, I got a Yonex Armortec 800 OF

I found this http://www.mmoa.co.jp (http://www.mmoa.co.jp/) . But I don't speak Jp. Someone can translate.
Their rackets are around US$200.

It might be easier to try Mmoa's English website (http://us.mmoa.co.kr/).

I'm going to probably buy one the next time I go to Korea.Joobong racquets might have different names by the time you get here. Park Joobong has apparently sued the company to get them to stop using his name.

There is another Korean brand now, too. It's called K-Run(sp?). They don't have a website yet. I met a guy who works for them and he showed me a couple of racquets but I didn't get his card. I'll post a link once they get any information up on the web.
