how do you guys hold ur racquet in relation to the handle length? I see some ppl holding their racquets in the middle of the handle, some at the bottom of the handle and some at the very top of the handle!
which way is correct, or is it just preference?
i'm starting to hold higher up in the handle because i dont exactly favor the long length of my mp77. i also find that when i hold it higher, i am able to control it better...go figure

Very good, Shaun.

Holding higher up will give you more control but you may find you lose power in the shot because of the shorter length.

In fact there is no 'perfect' site on the handle to hold the racquet for all situations jsut as there is no 'perfect grip' with which one can play all different types of shot.

A singles player may hold the racquet lower down the handle most of the time for playing over head shots and for reaching sideline smashes/drop shots. They may switch to a higher grip when making kills off the net.

A doubles player will frequently change the position according to their opponents anticpated returns or their own choice of shot. High position for defensive shots/low serve/driving rallies. Lower position when smashing.

Hmm. this should really be in the General forum.

I used to do this, i mean holidng the racket quite high up around the cone section when i do my smashes and net shots. It gives you more control but i find that keeping it at the normal position will benefit on the long run as you will improve your smashes and drop shots anyway with that normal grip.....
