Given two rackets, same brand and model,

Total weight = 96 grams
Balance point = 295
String tension = 20 lbs, same type of strings

First racket – 4U, head heavy with two overgrips
(84 grams + 4gms strings + 2x4gms overgrips = 96gms)
Second racket – 3U, even balance/head light with one overgrips
(88 grams + 4gms strings + 4gms overgrip = 96gms)

Will this two rackets play and feel the same?

No, they will not.

I agree with DinkAlot. But how much of a difference I can't tell.

Weight in the head of the racket will allow you to hit harder.

Weight towards the handle of the racket will allow you to play quicker defense.

These are just broad statements, but some observations. You have the rackets, what do you feel? If you can feel the difference when you played, why did you ask the question?

Would it really matter? You have one racket that weighs a little more for offense (3U), and one racket that weights a little less for defense(4U). What else do you want? If it is identical rackets, you are as close as you will get. I think you are splitting hairs.

Just my opinions.

Overall, they should feel a bit different as the balance plays the trick. However, there are other factors you need to consider, such as string type, frame shape, shaft stiffness, grip size etc, which all can effect the "feeling".

It's very hard to describe how a particular racket "feel", only you as a user, can tell it by your own hand. ;)

no, no matter how many overgrips are applied to 2 diff weighted racquets, they will play different since the weight is at the handle, so it does not affect the racquets characteristics. they will feel different as well since the weight is different in the racquet excluding the handle.

I agree with you guys. They can’t be identical, great advises!

The truth is I don’t have the two of the same model rackets. I am looking for my “perfect” racket with a limited budget.

I just broke my no name brand 4U racket. I played with almost all Yonex MPs, AMs, NSs, but this no name 4U suit me the best. I just got an NS9000s; I made it the same specs as I described it above. But somehow it doesn’t “feel” as good as my old one. I may need time to get use to it as the NS shaft may be stiffer. But I think I will need to get another 4U to re-create the same feel as my old one.
