This will be my first time buying a racket over $50, and I want to make sure that my investment will be wise. I have my eyes on the SOTX Woven-7, and I need some more information on it.

What are the general pros and cons? I've read all 9 pages of this thread (http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10296), and I'd like even more information.

Thanks in advance. *pokes DinkAlot*

P.S. - I'm pretty sure that the SOTX Woven 7 on www.ibuysports.com (http://www.ibuysports.com) includes a racket bag and is pre-strung... correct?

Yep. You cannot go wrong with a Woven 7 unless you cannot wield it. :D

Awesome... how long does it usually take to ship? I bought it an hour ago... :D

I think it'll come with that free sports watch too... pretty sexy.

- If I switch to BG-80 for the string... what tension would you recommend?

Whatever tension are you are used to, that's what I would go with. For me, it's about 27/30lbs. on the Woven 7.

They usually ship within 24 hours and takes 2-5 business days to Canada, depending on your location relative to Los Angeles.

That sounds awesome. I live in Vancouver, British Columbia. Do I usually get a tracking number or delivery notification in the email? Thanks again Dink.

Why are you asking me again? :p

Of course, that's standard practice. To B.C. (nice place!), it's about 3 business days. :D

Guess its probably my poor technique. I find the woven7 too demanding for me and cannot wield it properly when I play doubles. Still prefer to stick to the D900 or Woven9 are much more forgiving.

Ahhhhh, no worries, that's why there are so many different rackets. As long as you can find the one that you like... :)

One last thing... does ibuysports notify you if they ship it? Or do I just wait for a package to arrive at my door?

Yes, tracking, standard practice.

Eh, my dad has one, it's not bad, but we're used to using a lighter armory (84-88 g), he wasn't used to it at first, his arm was sore for a little while. I haven't tried his yet, but I've held it before, it's headlight, feels slightly different from what I'm used to.

Can't wait... I hope I get it soon, so I can test the POWER.

It might take a restringing and some grip before you can feel the power. Don't get discouraged on the first swing and hav fun.

Bruce, tell me first if you are discarding your D900. I'll buy it from you. I'm dead serious.:)

wow..there're a lot more Sotx users than I thought...hartwarming;):o

btw, the woven 7 is 8,5-9,0 stiff. wich seems to be Sotx's "medium-stiffness".

how would you people rate it? vs yonex stiffness I find it a little less than "stiff" (less than my at500)...whereas their 8,0-8,5 is YY's "very stiff" (~ns8k)

how about you guys?

Sorry Jerby, forgive us but I guess we got carried away........anyway I bought the second hand D900 from Classic with some paint chips (I thought). Here is the picture of the most serious "paint chip". As I pay peanuts for it, it will be my year end bonus if the defect is cosmetic rather than structural. I hope it is not a crack. Will be able to find out in my next game tomorrow. Do you think it is a crack?

jerby
12-29-2006, 06:24 AM
looks more like a dent (maybe from a post of the stringing machine)..
my woven 11 has one of those at 12 o'clock..form experiemnt with a new support system...so far it's just cosmetic...

anyway, sorry if I sounded grumpy..this thread is long over with anyways:p

madman

It is tentatively confirmed that there is no structural crack. The "hairline crack" that appeared on the frame is just paint crack. I noticed that this racket has 4 layers of paint. Once I scratched off the top 2-3 layers around the "crack" area, I do not see any real crack on it. So, that is good news so far. Here is the picture:

What's the lightest Woven 7 available? Was hoping Sotx produces 86g versions.

jerby

catalog says 91+-2grams...so 89 is as light as it gets...

don't let it fool you...the graphtie production part fo the rackets are pretty consistent (let's hope so...I don't want 2grams less graphite in my shaft, it might weaken it a lot)
so if you assuem the weight differenc eis because of the wooden handle (prodcuts of nature...not every handle weighs the same..) and the glue inside to get the balance point right...
I don't think it'll matter much, if anythign at all...

alternatively...buy a woven 9...
wich is just as stiff, ~just as head-heavy (a little les..but trust me, it's ehad-heavy) and 84+-2 grams..
