The outersole looks good. The design's a little bland for me but it's clean. :)

The shoe looks good: is it made for badminton specifically?? the reason why i ask is, if its not made for badminton, it might be a little heavier than the conventional badminton shoes....

tennis-warehouse.com lists the CT 653 as a tennis shoe. It weighs 15.8ounces for a size 10.5, which would be heavier than, say, the Yonex SHT 305 at 14.3ounces. (That, too, is a tennis shoe, but here I am just using the example as a comparison.)
New Balance does offer lighter shoes, such as the CT 822 (14ounces) :

and CT 820 (13.4 ounces! too light?) :

The website has links to lots of customer reviews, and from what I have read there are quite a few negative reviews, but then again the reviews are more relevant to the rigors of tennis?

yup, it's for tennis...actually, i saw this one http://www.holabirdsports.com/products/210075.jpg
new balance 652 being used by someone while playing badminton, i think it's lighter than the 653, but i think it's no longer available...and if it is, only a few left since its an older model
