Looks like Peter Gade has given a walkover to Chen Yu.
jcr2001 01-23-2007, 05:02 AM whaaat? I'm assuming he needs rest.
me-ow 01-23-2007, 05:27 AM WHY!!!!!!!!!!:eek::eek::eek:
Krisna 01-23-2007, 05:47 AM Maria Kristin will face Huang Chia Chi of Australia in the first round. This is the second week in a row where Maria benefits from Zhang Ning and other top players pulling out. Maria was scheduled to play in the qualification round of Malaysia and Korea Superseries, but in the end, she went straight to the main round due to her [somewhat] higher ranking... :D So lucky.
If she can defeat Huang Chia Chi, then her road is pretty soft going to the quarterfinals. But we all know Huang is good. I think the match will go to rubber sets. Too close to predict. I can only hope Maria wins...
Ethan 01-23-2007, 07:22 AM WMC is facing the great wall if she manages to beat Kaori Mori. Lu Lan, Jiang Yan Jiao, Xie XingFang. It gets tougher and tougher.

Ethan 01-23-2007, 07:39 AM Out of so many matches, only 3 can realistically progress ??
I think WPT/KKK can beat the Chinese but KKK might not go all out in XD. I think the Hashims' might win.
ceeway 01-23-2007, 07:43 AM What are these??  Julia has to face Pi Hong Yan in 1st round? Roslin VS Jonnassen??Kuan Beng Hong VS Sony??Lee Tsuen Seng VS Lee hyunnIl??and Chen Hong VS Hafiz AGAIN???...faint...
Jessica 01-23-2007, 08:16 AM No need to faint...This will happens more often in the coming tournament. So,lets just wait and watch it.
LazyBuddy 01-23-2007, 10:49 AM Looks like Peter Gade has given a walkover to Chen Yu.
Again, if PG gave a walkover to CHN player, it's perfectly ok. If another CHN player gives to his teammate, then we see all the "LYB sucks", "LYB dirty strategy", etc flooding the forum again.
Well, if you're not good enough then Super Series is not for you, plain and simple :D I like the format and I think most audiences too ... Every Super Series excitment starts from round 1(even the qualification round have interesting matchup.) However, putting 2 Super Series back to to back on consecutive week seems to harsh to players.

I agree with you 100%.
Who arrange all the tournaments schedules?
There will be no tournaments at all in February? ???? April and August only had one tournament.
But the toughest ones for players to play are September months, 4 events in a row. (If the players choose to enter all the events)
And of course at November 2007, there will be 3 Super series in one month. How can the IBF expect the top elites players to play in their best condition in tough events three consecutives tournaments in one months?
Baderz_Jas 01-23-2007, 01:15 PM ooo...I really hope LD wins after the being K.O. in R16 in Malaysia Open  :D hehehe :p :p PG giving CY a walkover, he must very tired ;)
Good to see XXF back after being ill :D :) Golden Couple Go Go Go! :)

Bacause PG's walkover before tourney starts...CH went to semifinal before giving WO to BCL....
LazyBuddy 01-23-2007, 02:54 PM Bacause PG's walkover before tourney starts...CH went to semifinal before giving WO to BCL....
A WO is a WO, regardless which round. In theory, a WO in later round is more "reasonable", as the guy already worked in many rounds, and more chance to be tired / injuried.
Again, we are not here talking about after how many rounds, this guy should be tired or not. We are talking about the fact that some ppl here just can't take the fact that some CHN players raising the trophy. Somehow, the CHN already got attacked due to their success.
Remember, if we really talking about fair in this sport, we have to say CHN team suffers the most. Remember, how many of their good players can't participate in certain tournaments due to limited entries??? Hey, if XXF or XXZ can't even make the team (Olympics), shouldn't they screaming "unfair" the most? Many times, 2 of their 5 top MS (mostly all in top 10-15 world wide) can only watch others who barely rank in 50s playing. How they (and/or LYB) feel???

..in this thread (and if i'm not mistaken in another thread, which i forgot, which event also replied):

Dreamzz 01-23-2007, 06:14 PM i'm not too sure about CTF/LWW progressing so easily.
they have been looking very shaky for the last 3 months or so.
my expectations for them are currently very low.
Joyous 01-23-2007, 06:48 PM I can see Lazybuddy's point and I do emphatise with the Chinese team. The responsibility of the coach is so so heavy. Whatever decision you made, someone (management, player or fan) will think it's not the best.
Then as a player, you think you are good but end up sidelined. And when you're chosen, nothing less than being the champion is expected. Anything short of that, you are bombarded.
But as one of the Chinese player said, that is something they have to live with altho' a little encouragement from fans would make their day.
tjl_vanguard 01-23-2007, 07:12 PM haha my expectations for ctf/lww is lower than low haha
abedeng 01-23-2007, 07:14 PM Game just got started, and Nova/Lilyana lost 1st game to German pair ....
Why are they like that, yoyo kind of performance?
tjl_vanguard 01-23-2007, 07:14 PM wad time is it starting??
tjl_vanguard 01-23-2007, 07:15 PM oh wad a coincidence abedeng.. i was just asking wad time is the tourney goin to start haha thx 4 the info
Dimduo_81 01-23-2007, 08:26 PM KKK & Wong Pei Thy are playing in the mix double event against China's Zhang Jun/ Zhao Ting Ting...and now they have won!! Congratulations!
jbchiong 01-23-2007, 08:28 PM KKK & WPT have already their match in three sets.
pramilainc 01-23-2007, 08:30 PM KKK/WPT won against Zhang Jun /Ting Ting....
I think they have to seriously think about KKK stop playing MXD anymore. Since KKK/TBH seems their top MD pair, asking KKK to play MXD would physically drain him, as well as put him under a lot of pressure...
If KKK/WPT goes further in MXD, we will probably see a compromise in his their MD perfomance...
abedeng 01-23-2007, 08:32 PM Yeah, they are a pretty good XD pair, even if they hardly ever train XD. In fact Wong Pei Tty was instrumental in the World Championship and Asian Games bronze medal achievement with 2 different partners.
Good thing BAM is now looking at establishing XD department .....
cheeyf 01-23-2007, 08:56 PM yes they won.they r getting better.best mas xd.hope they get enuf rest esp wpt who is goin 2 play in wd in 6 hours time.go wpt.ceh n kkk/tbh.mas boleh

and she just lost the 2nd game.
going into the final game now.
hcyong 01-23-2007, 10:41 PM I agree with you 100%.

I think they have in mind to reduce the costs of the participating players, especially those from other continents. Imagine you (as an European) playing last week in KL and then having to hang around, incurring hotel costs etc, before starting the Korean Open next week.
That is why SS events come in matching pairs: Malaysia-Korea, Singapore-Indonesia, China-Hong Kong, China-Japan, two European pairs.
Edit: OK, China-Japan are seperated by a few weeks, but the others are back-to-back.
CaesarZ 01-23-2007, 10:54 PM Roslin won the first game against Kenneth 21-18 but now trailing 4-11 in the 2nd game.
hcyong 01-23-2007, 10:55 PM A WO is a WO, regardless which round. In theory, a WO in later round is more "reasonable", as the guy already worked in many rounds, and more chance to be tired / injuried.

Officially, there is no difference between the two walkovers. But we practically can make very good guesses as to the differences in intentions of the walkovers. One cannot help feeling that whoever Gade meets in the first round in Korea, he will give a walkover anyway. Whereas if Chen Hong were to meet LCW (instead of BCL) in Malaysia SF, he would have played and played well, too. Of course, I cannot prove any of these, but no one can blame me from feeling this way.
I agree with you about the other thing, the limited entry rule. But these are two very seperate issues. You should not lump them together.
cheeyf 01-23-2007, 10:55 PM go julia
she's definately improving

> 1.3 billion ppl against a few million from other countries... how fair is that ?
They should chop China into small small provinces and then ask each one to compete as 1 country..

abedeng 01-24-2007, 12:34 AM thanks...... too bad you will support KBH :)
Wrong, I support committed never-say-die players .... :) if KBH plays crap, Sony gets my vote ....
abedeng 01-24-2007, 12:35 AM Sony pulls away 10-4, closing in on toilet break.
Mori and WMC neck and neck, 8-8.
lipans 01-24-2007, 12:35 AM Sony lead 11-4. KBH no match with him.
abedeng 01-24-2007, 12:35 AM Lu Lan beat Hirose 21-16 in 1st game, Hirose fightback came a bit too late.
abedeng 01-24-2007, 12:36 AM WMC ups the pace to toilet break, 11-8.
abedeng 01-24-2007, 12:37 AM Sony continues further, 13-6. MAS Lee lead KOR Lee 3-1, but for how long?
abedeng 01-24-2007, 12:39 AM WMC at 14-9, MAS Lee still with 2-pt gap, 6-4, Hirose starts strongly in 2nd game, 4-1.
abedeng 01-24-2007, 12:40 AM WMC cruising away, 15-10. As is Sony, 18-9. MAS Lee extend lead 7-4. Lu Lan moving forward, but still behind 4-5.
taufik-ist 01-24-2007, 12:40 AM Wrong, I support committed never-say-die players .... :) if KBH plays crap, Sony gets my vote ....
btw
sony is leading 16:7.... too far away :)
MaLiq 01-24-2007, 12:41 AM lee tsuen seng leading 6-4 against lee hyun il
hopefully LTS can mantain his lead for the rest of the game...
for kuan beng hong's game...haihzzz....sony is definitely owning him...
IMO, KBH's confidence has taken a deep plunge...he's performance has been on the decline lately....
abedeng 01-24-2007, 12:41 AM Gamepoint Sony. Hirose and MAS Lee maintain 2-pt gap. WMC 4 pts away from victory.
lipans 01-24-2007, 12:42 AM Easy game for Sony. 21-12
abedeng 01-24-2007, 12:43 AM WMC 2 pts away now. Hirose still maintain 2-pt lead, MAS Lee still lead by 2 pts.
lipans 01-24-2007, 12:43 AM Miew miew about to win the match.
Speed & Power 01-24-2007, 12:43 AM Haih....why hasn't the coaches given up on Beng Hong yet???!! i wonder? i dont see any potential in him
abedeng 01-24-2007, 12:43 AM That's it, Mew Choo wins 21-9, 21-13.
hcyong 01-24-2007, 12:44 AM I thought Jiang Yanjiao not playing.
abedeng 01-24-2007, 12:44 AM KBH wants to prove a point, 4-1 2nd game. Hirose and MAS Lee take toilet break with 2 and 3 pts lead respectively.
lipans 01-24-2007, 12:45 AM KBH lead on 2nd set. 6-2.
abedeng 01-24-2007, 12:46 AM Lu Lan levels, 12-12. I think she can't afford playing 3rd game, lost to Yippie last week.
lipans 01-24-2007, 12:47 AM Haih....why hasn't the coaches given up on Beng Hong yet???!! i wonder? i dont see any potential in him
They don't have any choice. Besides, he can be a good sparing partner to LCW and other players.
abedeng 01-24-2007, 12:47 AM MAS Lee still with 3 pt lead, as is Kuan against Sony.
abedeng 01-24-2007, 12:48 AM Sony closing in again, 8-9.
abedeng 01-24-2007, 12:49 AM Sony retakes lead, from now onwards I don't think Kuan can respond. Hirose and MAS Lee maintain their advantage, but cannot pull away.
abedeng 01-24-2007, 12:52 AM Hmm, Hirose might still make it to 3rd game, 19-14. MAS Lee still with 2 pt advantage, 18-16. KBH about to give up, 11-14 down.
hcyong 01-24-2007, 12:53 AM Well done Wong MC, a comprehensive victory too.

abedeng 01-24-2007, 12:54 AM Hirose forces rubber! MAS Lee takes 1st game, now can his stamina hold? Sony only 3 points away.
madbad 01-24-2007, 12:54 AM Hirose takes the 2nd game 21-15... with a bounce in her step :p

Speed & Power 01-24-2007, 12:56 AM He's done! Going home tomorrow, BYE!
MaLiq 01-24-2007, 12:57 AM i like hirose..she's a real fighter...i remember the asian games match between hirose n xie xingfang....she lost the 1st game 21-(something single digit) then fought back in the 2nd game to bring it to deuce n won the 2nd game...she fought really hard in the 3rd game also but luck wasnt on her side, but it was definetly a hard fought match for XXF..
so i hope hirose wins in this match against Lu Lan..
wow LTS managed to win the 1st game..impressive...i think he's better than KBH-who has just lost the game to sony...haihzzz
lipans 01-24-2007, 12:57 AM KBH lost........
Jessica 01-24-2007, 12:59 AM Sigh...What a dissapointment from KBH,i really have no more hope in him if he continue going on like this.I am happy enough with julia and roslin performance and i think KKK is able to handle both MD and XD,i just hope that KBH can know what is his problem.
hcyong 01-24-2007, 01:01 AM Hirose takes the 2nd game 21-15... with a bounce in her step :p
WHOA the unfancied Lee (Tsuen Seng) won the 1st game 21-17
I wish I was there ... Third set will be hard-fought.
Lee TS continues to surprise (or maybe it is not so surprising anymore) after leaving BAM. Maybe KBH can follow his footstep. Problem is, KBH has never shown much, whereas LTS has fulfilled his potential during his prime.
Speed & Power 01-24-2007, 01:01 AM Wah Lee TS is really battling it out!! Against all odds! C'mon Lee TS!!!
zqloy 01-24-2007, 01:01 AM i like hirose..she's a real fighter...i remember the asian games match between hirose n xie xingfang....she lost the 1st game 21-(something single digit) then fought back in the 2nd game to bring it to deuce n won the 2nd game...she fought really hard in the 3rd game also but luck wasnt on her side, but it was definetly a hard fought match for XXF..

wow LTS managed to win the 1st game..impressive...i think he's better than KBH-who has just lost the game to sony...haihzzz
Yeah y're right. Remember she is abt 8 or 9 points down while playing WMC in the 2nd set, all of us thought she is done already, but she manage to fight back. WMC is actually lucky to won the 2nd set.
Speed & Power 01-24-2007, 01:04 AM Beng Hong is not a born badminton player....he will be wasiting his time, effort and BAM's funds if he continues....he should try ping pong maybe he might be the next Wang LiQin??!!
X Ball 01-24-2007, 01:05 AM In badminton, KBH is not getting anywhere any time soon. It may all be too tough for him. Just as in studies, some go far but others are just so-so. KBH is just so-so.
Speed & Power 01-24-2007, 01:06 AM Lee TS going for the BIG Korean kill!! Not too far away from a major upset! C'mon!

madbad 01-24-2007, 01:08 AM Gigantic upset by the MAS Lee over the KOR Lee. The score in the second game would indicate there was something wrong with LHI. Anyone can confirm?
Jessica 01-24-2007, 01:09 AM What happened with Lee Hyun Ii??? I really feel shock with LTS performance. He win over him in two straight set and the second set just let the korean scored 8 marks.Wow,the Mas LTS is on fire now.
madbad 01-24-2007, 01:10 AM LL puling ahead of Eriko 14-11.
Battle of the Wangs, the HK version leading the CHN (but cuter:p :p ) version 12-8
Speed & Power 01-24-2007, 01:10 AM Its either, Lee TS was in unstopable form today OR HI Lee caught the Lin Dan M'sian Open disease...
Inky2000 01-24-2007, 01:10 AM A great day for MAS so far, with three major upsets created (KKK/WPT, Roslin, LTS) and only two players (whom we didn't place high hope on anyway) lost.
pramilainc 01-24-2007, 01:12 AM Oh no... 3/4 my favourite MS players out, only 1 remain... Hopefully he won't catch LiYongBoitis this time,
Speed & Power 01-24-2007, 01:12 AM Lets see how the other high hopes of M'sia does?? Hafiz and Lee Chong Wei? Any predictions?

MaLiq 01-24-2007, 01:20 AM A great day for MAS so far, with three major upsets created (KKK/WPT, Roslin, LTS) and only two players (whom we didn't place high hope on anyway) lost.
i think there were 5 upsets caused by the malaysians in total...
-KKK/WPT over ZJ/ZTT
-julia wong over pi hongyan
-roslin over kenneth j
-WMC over kaori mori (cuz kaori is ranked higher in BWF, so i still call it an
upset even tho WMC is in great form)
-Lee TSuen Seng over Lee Hyun Il (definitel the biggest upset of the day)
now its hafiz's turn...GO HAFIZ!!!!!!im still supporting u!!!haha:) :)
lipans 01-24-2007, 01:21 AM As always. Hafiz will lead on first set. Maybe he will win it. But, the real problem is on 2nd and 3rd set.
lipans 01-24-2007, 01:22 AM 10-4 to Hafiz.......
Speed & Power 01-24-2007, 01:24 AM As always. Hafiz will lead on first set. Maybe he will win it. But, the real problem is on 2nd and 3rd set.
Yeah, agree on that. He has a BIG mental block when it comes to second or third games. Maybe Chen Hong knows that and is taking it easy in the first game
Jessica 01-24-2007, 01:24 AM Hafiz is leading far away with 11-5 but i can't predict anything coz i know well his unconsistent performance.
alfa2 01-24-2007, 01:25 AM I reckon Hafiz is a talented player.....just wondering what wil happen if he is to train under Li Mao instead of Sidek.
lipans 01-24-2007, 01:27 AM 14-12. CH fought back.
hcyong 01-24-2007, 01:29 AM -WMC over kaori mori (cuz kaori is ranked higher in BWF, so i still call it an
upset even tho WMC is in great form)
Well, Sony is ranked lower than KBH, but I find it almost impossible to call it an upset win.
alfa2 01-24-2007, 01:29 AM Hafiz.....hope you can prove it wrong to every ppl out there tat u r not juz champion in the 1st set.... GO GO GO !!!
