..thx for sharing the infos & pics with us, seawell..I heard most of the venues for the upcoming 2008 are built from scratch. Well, at least for this particular venue, which looks quite nice, it won't be "abandoned" & at least the gym will be somewhat useful after the big event next yr. Unlike in previous Olympic yrs, most notably in Athens. Who knows what type of activities or usage are they doing with the venues(ie. badminton etc.)..  :p

I believe that's a normal polluted day in Beijing. The smog's from the factories. When Tony Blair visited Beijing, he was greeted with blue skies because apparently the authorities shut down the factories for that period. When I was in Beijing one week, I had one day of smog and clear , blue skies after because it was National Day week. Call it a stroke of luck.At least the authorities can decide when they want to have blue skies.Guess the factories will have to shut down during OG08 otherwise how can the athletes break records with restricted oxygen?

When I was in Shanghai last year, I saw the same smog. Very surprisingly, my driver told me it was mist. I did not want to be impolite and told him it was a fine mist. :)

China is indeed a place where if you never never go, you'll never never know.

But I do like Beijing just from that one experience. There's just so much to explore.
On CCTV9?, there's almost daily coverage on beijing, its transformation because of OG08 and its richness and variety.(Esp. the series: Beijing'Are you ready?' presented by Mary Windishar? She makes me want to go to Beijing right now!)And all the stories behind the efforts and pride that the Chinese people put into building the Olympic venues. The Chinese can stand tall;the commitment they show is outstanding and I'm happy for them. When it's visa-free days again, I'm ready for Beijing.
