Hi smashed_1,

It's about time to ask Jacky-C for our Return Match with JT Ultra !!!

I will leave this with you. :):):)

BTW, Jacky-C and Tracy-C will be celebrating with us the Chinese New Year 2007 Banquet/Dinner on Saturday 10-Feb-2007.

But I have not heard from you...... whether you are coming or not. :confused::confused::confused:

If you are coming, it would a good time to start organising it with Jacky-C

On CNY celebration, Jacky Chen talked to me about certain matters regarding to organsing a return match for following matters

- would there be any ladies in the team
- regarding on organisng the interclub match, he wants to bring 2 teams for the nite
- the possibilty of CCC team B playing against a team B with Jacky Chen (that would be his team D then cos he refer to his last team brought to interclub comp as team C)

Jason, you are still the contact regarding to this matter i believe. So i would leave that for Jacky to hassle you regarding to the typing up of match report+buying gift as discussed on this past friday before.

Anyway, I definitely want to be involed cos i miss out on the last one. Guess all of this are at the asking stage until we wait till handicapp system comes back on.

Jacky has invited for a return match on the 1st of March - Thursday night 8-10:30pm, to be held at Donvale Badminton Club - Whitefriars College, 156 Park Rd, Donvale (mel ref: 49A2).

"The return match format will involve both singles and doubles event, pls let me know your team list 10-12 players, we can make them 2 teams this time, all ladies are welcome.

PS. I understand it's a "friendly match" I will arrange the players as close standard as possible so we can all enjoy the games."

What do you think of that timing.......abit soon?

PS: We should get some CCC attire for unity of our team. Could get some shirts and print eg: 'CCC Badminton Club' on the backs of them. I wonder what style/colour everyone would like? For polo shirts with coolmax polyester material would be something around $20-25 mark....

Regarding to our CCC attire, if smashed_1 can organise it...... I am all for it.

With so many things that I have to organise, I have delayed in dealing with this matter.

yschin, from Malaysia has suggested to have our CCC attire done in Malaysia...... because it's much cheaper to do them there. I think he said each shirt can be done at about AUD$12 (based on my poor memory).

Unfortunately, because of my hectic schedule, I have not time to follow it through. And we do not know when yschin could be returning to Melbourne. :):):)

So...... what do you guys think ??? :confused::confused::confused:

We need feed back from all players@ccc.

What do i think? Count me in for 1/3!!

First of all, i have no intention of taking the captaincy from smashed_1 as he is the contact of CCC to Jacky Chen. Following are just mere suggestions to get people talking.

As Chris has always says events have to be organised in stages. Hence the following stages in organising team (as usual)

- deciding the date (in this case 1/3 - maybe we can go around and ask about the availiabity of members on that date while asking them whether they wanna participate in this special event)
- identify the possible candidates (in this case - members only, we would have to ask Chris to give out list of members as the candidates before i am to be confusing myself and ask everybody again)
- ask the possible candidates of the availability for comp
- organise partnership
- give our team list to captain smashed_1

Futher matters regarding the interclub comp:
- team shirt?
- taking pictures (which i am happy to take snapshots unless i am playing that is - i am gonna try to take some non playing people)
- matter of buying gift (maybe it's Jacky Chen's team to buy us a gift this time)

Oh, and i want a singles match!!

on another matter with the shirts.. I suggest we could get our names printed as well as 'CCC badminton'. I've ordered some iron-on names from a internet site (in Adelaide) and they do a pretty good job and not that expensive.

Woah HKHung - slow down man...... your seeming stressed with it already.. its only a friendly :p

Prelim agenda is posted for initial thoughts.
- No drama if we don't get 10/12 people committed in time we will postpone it 4 weeks, so a forward date can be marked in players diaries. (Will evaluate numbers in 1 weeks time from now!)

- hopefully chris@ccc will play in this one

- If we have only afew keen players for which that date/venue is OK, we could join JT's group for social play (provided it's already a JT social session & time/venue etc is OK by JT).

Same as last time the night is aimed for CCC's say, 'higher' grade available members, however Jacky understands its a friendly and will match standards from his group if we have other keen members wanting to play!

Hello All,
A further invitation received from JT Ultra for JT & CCC friendly match.
How many do interests do we have?

This match can help out the players who might want to join Altona
on the 18th MAR. We can use Altona's format - NSS modified, 1 game to
30pts no settings.

Singles - 1 game to 21pts NSS, no settings, change end at 11pts.
Doubles - 1 game to 30pts no settings, change end at 16pts.

Particulary inviting the Ladies players from CCC. JT have both experienced and non-experienced lady players who can participate in the match.

Proposed details:
1st March - Thursday night, (which is in 2 Thursdays)
8pm-10:30 or 11pm,
Whitefrairs College 156 park road donvale, mel ref: 49A2.

6 players team - total 15 games
(1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, 5-5, 6-6, 1+2, 3+4, 5+6, 1+4, 2+5, 3+6, 1+3, 2+6,
4+5) = 4 games per person.

6 players format = $11.00 per person

We can have 5 players team instead if necessary, similar ideas.

I hope others@ccc will give you their support to ease your task in organising for our Return Match with JT Ultra.
If there is no comment on the format, we should leave it to you to decide what is best.

Wish I could help you more... but I am working on my own (like you) in arranging for our Return Match with Wesley.

I met with Wesley last night, Monday 19-Feb-2007, and our proposed Return Match with Wesley will be on 16-Mar-2006, to be held at CCC@Waverley Friday 7:30pm-10:30pm. More details will be released soon.

Anyway, let me say that I will be playing in our CCC team against JT Ultra on Thursday 1-Mar-2007.
Whether it's Singles or Doubles for me...... I will be OK.

Looking at our past records, andrewghw brought Amy to CCC twice, but you only brought Candy there once.

You guys shouldn't just leave your wives at home while you are out playing Badminton.
Get them involved in it too. :):):)

When JTUltra want inexperienced ladies, does he mean beginners or does he mean D grade ladies?

From what i seen when i was in melbourne u, the D grade ladies single could probably play 2 against one any beginner.

Then again melbourne U has the wrong grade anyway. At least i trust Jacky Chen more than i trust the melbourne U comp in terms of grading.

Jacky-C is also coaching like me...... and I believe that some of the beginners at his coaching class want to participate too.

It's great that JT Ultra is promoting Badminton similar to how we are doing it at our CCC Badminton. :):):)

And Jacky, smashed_1 and me, only wish to have a 'Really Friendly Match'...... the winning or losing is not at all important. So...... this is rather similar to how you and I have organised our match with MG Badminton.

BTW, you are notorious for missing out reading posts... so, please scroll back to read POST#14. :rolleyes:

After thorough interrogation I finally got it out of Laurie.. turns out he forgot about it too (naughty naughty).. I'd love to play, that is if I'm good enuf to play but I can't really confirm right now.. Laurie and I both have to drive down to Warrnambool the next morning (I'm attending a conference down there and Laurie has to drive me coz I have a habit of falling asleep at the wheel :p )..

However, Chiranthi did not turn up... so we'll have to wait until Friday to get her response.

Thats great that Siva can play on Thurs 1-3, and LisaC. Can we close entries off with the 2 more ladies confirming.

From my tally we have 10 players confirmed being: (in no order)
Badfever, hkhung, andrewlyn, Lchow, andrewghw, ketut, chris@ccc, lisaC, siva, smashed_1.
But wonder if DoublesPlease or kwongj is in town.....

We welcome all CCC players not playing in the match to come along as support for the teams. HKHung is bringing some ladies to boost the CCC cheersquad ;) .

Although we won't have our CCC Attire in time for the match on the 1st of March. We don't want to buy some shirts just for the friendly match, (although we could!), so I suggest maybe we could wear all the same colour shirts??? Does everyone have say a dark shirt - dark blue/navy....just a thought!

Wives/gfs usually are very bored and hate watching us play badminton, but put them together and they can chat and forget about us all night...:rolleyes:

Hmmm, bit of a technical issue there....;)

Some college directions:
"Enter the Park Rd from Mitcham Rd, you will first come across the
"proposed fwy area, go up hill for another min., then the school Gate
will be on your right hand side next to a Bus-Stop, quite easy to find.
After entering the gate, park the cars in side the outdoor basketball
court and the stadium is right next to it."

True, true, but only if they are not the only women in the court. Which brings back to the issue of not enough women in CCC.

Maybe the players could organise activities for gf to do like playing cards, mahjong.

Unfortunately there isn't a pub near by so you can all "put them together and they can chat and forget about us all night...".

Hang on, there's one near springvale rd and high st intersection opposite to mcdonald .....

Unfortunately I find that apart from the girls that like badminton and are good, they will just pick it for something to "lose weight", socialise, etc.

You cannot argue about the "losing weight" part. They would be playing single if you want to lose weight.

Badminton is not a sport who player to socialise unlike team sport such as soccer.



Toni fits into the category of "I am not good at badminton, therefore do not want to try very much" hehe:crying: - its a losing battle

Male or female, that's even true as i am trying to get people start coming. It's not that they do not want to try very much, but they get the sense that only people who really want to play badminton comes to play badminton on a friday nite periodically.

Well, not enough female players at this club also does not help.

While at our coaching session at CCC@MSAC this morning, Sunday 25-Feb-2007, I mentioned to our trainees about the required 12th player.

And Tony-P said he is interested to join our CCC membership and to participate in our Return Match with JT Ultra.

You might not have met Tony-P before. He joined our Wednesday Coaching at CATS@Waverley after you had your injury. Tony-P is as strong a player as BadFever and andrewghw.

Since you are not fully recovered, perhaps you should not take any further risk to play. Usually in the heat of a competition, you might forget about your injury, and do more harm to it.

I would suggest that you should come back to play lighter games first (with weaker players)...... just to test out your recovery.

But we'll talk more at our Wednesday CATS Social.

And I will bring an extra bottle of red wine for our supper... just for you, since your stomach is not injured. :):):)

Single: 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, 5-5, 6-6
Double: 1+2, 3+4, 5+6, 1+4, 2+5, 3+6, 1+3, 2+6, 4+5
So if you are player 4, after singles you pair up with player No. 3 for a match, then next match with player No. 1, then next with player No. 5. So the 'well known partnership' is irrelevant in this draw.

I notice that too. I think it would be more balanced if Elena plays Lisa instead of the ladies facing a guy. Just a suggestion, either move Elena to no.2 on their list or move Lisa and I to no. 5 + 6 on our team.

Here we go again... members@ccc not reading our CCC Sub-Forum (our CCC Notice Board). :mad::mad::mad:

Because our Team Captain, smashed_1, was unable to attend regularly our CCC sessions lately...... he has been communicating with our teammates via this thread.

To me, I have been monitoring who have not been replying/posting and who have not been to supper (after our sessions) to discuss this matter.

Last night, we discussed about this at supper, after our Wednesday CATS... and we noticed 3 members who have been noted not replying/posting and/or not attending our supper lately, namely helmut, Tony-P and Siva-S.


Well, for those who are concerned and worried, this is the story regarding helmut, Tony-P and Siva-S.

1. helmut
He is fully aware of what is going on and he will be there. I rang him for confirmation today, Thursday 1-Mar-2007.

2. Tony-P
He was reminded by me last night, Wednesday 28-Feb-2007, at our CATS@Waverley (when he said he could not make it for supper)... and he confirmed that he will be there.

3. Siva-S
I rang him today and he said he is scheduled to play at a different competition at another place tonight. :mad::mad::mad:
After my angry protest, he rang me later to say that he has now cancelled the other match, and that he will be coming with us tonight... phew, What a relief !!! :):):)


So, everything is in order now...... I hope.

umm, i'm totally confused on chris@ccc's posting above. My head hurts now - lotza confusing posts lately - I better grab another coffee.........

No the player pairing will not matter captain chris, as long as the order is relatively in order of strengths.

OK let me take for example by looking at LisaC's draw - ccc player No. 6
Single 6-6, double 5+6, 3+6, 2+6
Game 1 - single she will hit with JT Ultra's No. 6 - lady.
her 2nd game 5+6 - she will partner with ccc's player No. 5 (Helmut)
her 3rd game 3+6 - she will partner with ccc's player No. 3 (LChow)
her 4th game 2+6 - she will partner with ccc's player No. 2 (ketut)

So her opponent on the other side of the court would always be the same - being JT's No. 6 a same strength lady paired with their applicable order.

If we change to your proposed team by putting LisaC 2nd in the group (8th out of all players) then her opponent on the other side will always be JT"s No. 8th player & her singles will be with JT's No. 7 which won't match/be friendly.

So hence the order & schedule should remain as per post #54

& draw is still
6 players team - total 15 games
(1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, 5-5, 6-6, 1+2, 3+4, 5+6, 1+4, 2+5, 3+6, 1+3, 2+6,
4+5) = 4 games per person.
(whether this is correct or not we should abide by our host club's schedule)

The Recommended Team were suggested to ensure that 'Well Known Partnerships' can be teamed up together, for example;

BadFever and andrewghw,
LisaC and LChow,
hkhung and helmut,
Tony-P and chris@ccc, etc,.....
and nothing more than that. :):):)

For example, LisaC has partnered andrewlyw before, but she has never partnered with Ketut-S before, etc......

Personally, for me it doesn't matter who my partner is. But some players wanted to partner someone with whom he/she has partnered before.

But for you, it's just a matter of the strength/skill of individual players, not combinations...... We will let each player have a say tonight. :cool::cool::cool:

Perhaps, our players are more concerned about their partnerships, rather than worrying about their strengths.

But, as LilyC said, "Enjoy yourself out there on the court!!!"... and that's the most important thing.

find below a selection of blurry pictures. I have many more, of course. Maybe I bring a laptop with the whole lot (full size). Whoever is interested in their picture could bring a USB memory stick, say NEXT Friday night.

Observations (strictly photographic ones):
1. no sun, very dark sky, fibro panel clouds;
manual lens with big aperture of 1.4 with no depth of field.
2. Subjects would not stand still, were terribly fidgety.
3. Best players: Ken, Tony, Lisa (yellow, red, violet jerseys).
4. Worst players: many (dark shirts before dark background).
5. Best team: Lisa and Laurie (synchronised motion).
6. Light blue jerseys contrast nicely with brown brick.

Below is a copy of tonight's result.
Interesting while doing results, noticed that many of the matches tend to start close and the difference between the scores are getting further apart when one side passed 19-20 pts!!!!.
CCC players must be used to playing up to 21pts with NSS :)
.....although JT players never tried such format going to 30 points either, but under OSS the duration of the game could be much longer and dragging....not sure my analysis make sence though hehe lol

I'll have the laptop with me on Friday + a few pre-burnt CDs.
Don't bring blank CDs, my my pre-neolithic laptop does not have a burner, bring USB memory sticks instead.

Don't expect too much picture-wise, though. It was an experiment with an old but fast 50/1.4 Nikkor lens which is very difficult to focus. I was basically trying to match the tilt of my wrist holding the lens with the perceived or anticipated position of the players as the action on the field was rocking back and forth. Nevertheless it was fun, of course.
