Greetings,
We thought we start this thread because this matter requires feed back from all players@ccc at various venues/sessions.
======*======
It was first presented by smashed_1:-
"We should get some CCC attire for unity of our team. Could get some shirts and print eg: 'CCC Badminton Club' on the backs of them. I wonder what style/colour everyone would like? For polo shirts with coolmax polyester material would be something around $20-25 mark...."
======*======
A reply from chris@ccc:-
"Regarding to our CCC attire, if smashed_1 can organise it...... I am all for it.
With so many things that I have to organise, I have delayed in dealing with this matter.
yschin, from Malaysia has suggested to have our CCC attire done in Malaysia...... because it's much cheaper to do them there. I think he said each shirt can be done at about AUD$12 (based on my poor memory).
Unfortunately, because of my hectic schedule, I have not time to follow it through. And we do not know when yschin could be returning to Melbourne. :):):)
So...... what do you guys think ???:confused::confused:
We need feed back from all players@ccc."
======*======
Then, a comment from andrewlyw:-
"matter with the shirts... I suggest we could get our names printed as well as 'CCC Badminton'. I've ordered some iron-on names from a internet site (in Adelaide) and they do a pretty good job and not that expensive."
======*======
A reply from chris@ccc:-
"Regarding the Player's Name together with CCC Badminton, I like it !!!
When you have done one, please show us. And also calculate the costs involved.
Do we need to start a unique thread to deal with this question ??? This matter is not only for our Friday Group. If the price is right, we would wish to get all players at various CCC venues/sessions to be involved."
======*======
And a reply from andrewlyw:-
"I can show it to you on Friday (16-Feb-2007). I did it on a basketball top. 4 letters cost me around $2-$3.. it all depends how big you want the print and how many letters..."
======*======
We hope to get feed back from all other CCC players.
Cheers... chris@ccc

I'd love to see the letters (but not sure if I can make it this Fri yet), I been researching the same (for another club) and its so expensive to put individual names on, as its not the normal screenprint process on the polyester coolmax material.
I tried standard iron-on myself but the material like melts..haha, so I'm keen to see Andrew's letters.

I will wear (err, better not cos I only have one, thanks to Kong)....I will bring over to show you guys on Wednesday.
Maybe we can ask Kwun permission if we can add CCC Melbourne@BadmintonCentral.com (CCC@BadmintonCentral.com) on the wording and our individual name and make it our official T-shirt.
Better still , we can even get yschin to get them printed in Malaysia for better pricing. We can use genuine Yonex T-shirt to print on, especially the ones using some special technology (VCool, TCool, XCool, whateva). Can or not, yschin? :)

Yo,
Can or not, yschin? :)
Yes and No
Yes - i still consider myself part of CCC and I like the idea of uniform for member or give 2 free upon signing up. I printed T-shirts few years back for RM8.00 ea i.e AUD$3(with shirt). Caps too. But you have to supply the design and minimun quantity (can't remember?). There are shops here selling iron-on names too - $ ??. Will find out if you want.
Yonex original cost RM$45 ea. Isn't that too high? I saw the Hong Kong Open's shirt with Gunawan & partner signature on display in a badminton shop - very nice and simple design.
No -with personalised names - could be a problem to the printer ( not sure) how about replacement and new members. In a way it might be more convenient to get them done in Melbourne even at a higher price. You can be assured of the quality and be satisfied.
What I can do is to get your design (by email) and sent to printer for a quote and print some XL, L , M etc without names. Don't worry about $ , not a big problem if you not too particular about quality.
Logo design competition on?? Free T shirt for winner. Chris will say not so free lah!

Greetings,
With so many things happening @CCC, I am up to my neck with other matters. At the moment, these are some of the matters I am involved in;
(1) ozheater has asked me to organise a Sichuan Dinner for players@CCC. I am in the middle of doing it... eg, I have gone to the restaurant and spoken with the restaurant boss, etc... Anyway, details will be posted soon, as I get more solid info from the restaurant. I would say that our Sichuan Dinner will be held in April 2007.
(2) Organising our Return Match with Wesley Badminton. Again, more details will be posted soon as I get more info from Wesley Badminton.
(3) Albert Park Badminton is asking me to coach their team of players.
(4) CBA Melbourne is asking for CCC players to participate in their competitions.
(5) Overseas players, through Badminton Central, with or without kwun, are asking me to help them to enjoy Badminton in Melbourne while they are/to be here. And I have been answering heaps of emails asking about our CCC.
(6) Players@ccc are asking me to incorporate all CCC activities under ONE STRUCTURE, eg, members@CCC Friday Social are to pay the same $7 fee @CATS Wednesday Social. And trainees@CCC from different venues are also asking to come under ONE UMBRELLA@CCC, etc... This matter, I am still working on how to do it.
(7) Spreading myself out to attend many other venues, eg Doncaster, Box Hill, Albert Park, Boroondara, Diamond Valley, Highvale, etc...
(8) Answering many mails from players asking about CCC Private Coaching, etc...
(9) Ordering rackets for our CCC members, etc...
And many other smaller matters......
So, I wonder if BadFever, smashed_1, yschin, andrewlyw, etc... can work among yourselves to deal with our CCC T-shirts. You can all work on the layout, cost, etc...
Of course, I will give my opinions on things, but I will let you guys make the final decisions.
Here are some of my opinions;
(1) White colour. (Looks cleaner and doesn't change colour when we sweat)
(2) With collar. (Looks smarter and keeps us warmer during the Winter)
(3) Players are to do personalised names themselves. (As yschin said that printing personalised names could be a problem to the printer)
(4) Award the designer of our logo with a free T-shirt. (I should think that the rest of our players could pay an extra one or two dollars more for each T-shirt, so that we can award the designer of our logo with a free shirt, as a token of our appreciation)
(5) Let me be the first to order 3 medium size T-shirts for myself. :):):)
Perhaps later, more ideas could come up. And I will post them later, as they come to mind.
Cheers... chris@ccc

Hi BadFever,
I had a quick read at the link that you have posted... Yes, we would love to have a look at your T-shirt at our Wednesday CATS/Social on 7-Mar-2007.
Also searching through Badminton Central, I came across this thread, located at: http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26413
khwong is in KL...... Perhaps, yschin can meet up with him there, to talk more about how his printing was conducted.
And with khwong's design, we could replace "MALAYSIA" with "CCC Melbourne", if permission could be granted. :):):)

Hi Chris,
Now I am confuse who actually own the design, khwong or kwun. Anyway, we do one step at a time. First thing, I will bring the BC T-shirt tomorrow. We can discuss over supper what we want to do next, new design or get permission and make changes over?
If there is a CCC member out there who is doing design work, maybe we can come out with our own logo and art work. Anyone care to take up the challenge?
After we come out with the design, then I will email yschin to get quote.
See you guys tomorrow.

I am going to start the ball rolling, if the design resembles someone else it is unintentional and willing to withdraw immediately.
FYI, design by the printer cost about RM200 to RM300. We can save that by sacrificing a couple of hours of TV. Here :-

Hey smashed_1,
you going to be there on Friday? I'll bring my top and show you the iron on names. ;)
Hey Andrew,
Forgot to tell you I had a sample name made from your contact - cheap and looked awesome, so I went ahead and got a whole team names done!. Only ironed them on to shirts & gave out tonight... looked fantastic - players loved em! :) :) :)
FYI...what I did: got some attractive but simple polo shirts from Winex in Taiwan - go Winex!!!;) polyester-coolmax, than had a range (with all same wording) printed with a commercial printer 1 colour backs. Then had the individual names produced for iron-on. Was to expensive to put names on with shirt printer due to setup etc, so iron on is cheapest - no setup & quick.
Cost for words printing on back (more shirts the cheaper) just under $4, & iron on names depends on length, average $3 + actual shirt price.
Just hard work & time consuming ironing them all on - had a production line in my lounge room......haha
One to consider is size/position of print - as I wanted to keep within IBF rulings so people can wear in regulated comps - would hate for people not be able to wear their named shirt if it had too much graffiti on it, (but made printing abit cheaper!) ;)
No design hassle as the design was in the polo shirt and printing was single colour wording back. Better that way I think cause in reality will be hard to get a design/logo that everyone likes/wants to wear longterm - would always be comments.
Sorry for the long story..lol. I would post a photo but they have names on so can't

Hi all...
Jason: that's great. :D the hard part is to find a printer here in Melb with reasonable price.. I know how you feel about doing the iron-on, mate.. I did it for my basketball team a couple of years back and they took me a while.. the hard thing is to line them up and making sure all the names are around the same area of the top...:o
Chris & all: maybe we can do the same thing.. but is it cheaper to get the tops from Malaysia????

Yeah, getting people to agree on something would be nightmare. Think about different ways people can chip in with the opinion
- discuss at supper
- the ones who don't do supper but vent out in forum
- the ones who generally keep quiet but chip in with a comment at the end
- the ones who call Chris personally
I could go on.

I was just wondering, what does CCC stand for? Is one of the Cs for 'club'?

Hey Monica,
Thats great you can submit some ideas for a CCC logo for the CCC Attire.
The thing is we need to keep it simple but creative, so it can be reproduced on anything, mainly in single colour for fronts or backs of shirts & in any other CCC Merchandise.
I can't recall what CCC really stands for... Chris has many combinations to suit... maybe Chris's Community Club :)
Look forward to your ideas......

Hi HK,
The idea of wearing Canterbury sports clothing (http://canterburynz.com/) is a good idea, we'd have the CCC logo on our shirts/backs, but they wouldn't be personalised unless we're willing to pay a fair price. My high school purchased over 120 rugby tops last year with personalised names printed on the upper back in CAPS, they cost the students $70 each. So I don't know about price and how many shirts we're wanting to buy. From the replies in this thread, it looks like most people are interested in personalised shirts.
smashed_1,
About the CCC logo, a simple and creative design is obviously essential for logos, but I have a question about the printing. You said "mainly in single colour", do you mean one colour only (black only?) or black and one other colour? Or anything else, please let me know. It'd help heaps to know before brainstorming some of my ideas. Thank you!
See you on Friday! :D

Monica:
I think Andrew wong has bought some letters that could be ironed to the back of the shirt easily and they were cheap. A few weeks he brought those letters to CCC friday nite.
The post is post no1 on page 1 of this thread.

04-08-2007, 08:15 AM
Ken,
I haven't seen them, or any photos, but if they're good to attach onto the material that we're using for the T-shirts then that'll be much cheaper than paying to print it on. More time consuming of course.
Someone did tell me that they peel off after some washes though...
It would make it much more convenient to buy the letters for our names on this iron-on thing, but how would we obtain an iron-on CCC logo? Does it also mean that we'd be able to use any shirt? (Though that would make it kind of less team-like, I suppose that we'd buy a bunch of plain T-shirts in our sizes to keep the shirt the same style.)
I know that this would probably cost too much to purchase, but how cool is this Canterbury design site?! Please take a look and mess around with the colour combinations (especially in 'Polo Shirts Cut & Sew Mens):

Hi HK, The idea of wearing Canterbury sports clothing.
smashed_1,You said "mainly in single colour", do you mean one colour only (black only?) or black and one other colour? Or anything else, please let me know.
Hi again M@
Not sure about Cantebury, I always had the thought they targeted the thick rugby style shirts for big $$, as opposed to the light coolmax style of polos suitable for baddy? mb I don't know - I might visit their store at DFO tomorro see what they have.
M, regarding the logo/print - have a read of post No. 14. I just did some shirts for baddy team, worked out under $25 which I believe is around most ppls expectation.
Single colour - the more colours to reproduce more expensive the setup & print it is, so 1 colour eg: in a dark shirts we print white, light shirts print black/blue etc so printing is just a single colour print & setup. I suggest we select a 'cheaper' generic off the shelf polo design & screenprint a single colour logo/design on all the same...
I think would be a good idea to keep the size within IBF requirements so ppl can wear them in comps. need chris@ccc's input on this one, but I think its a 11cm banner the area you can have for design?
yeah your right on the names - can get them plotted and iron them on to people's sizes after. I'll bring a sample on Friday for ya. its like a velvet feeling & only afew $$ to do. They say they can be ironed on to any material. It works on the light coolmax material so thats a good thing.
If the logo is small we could do the same iron transfer for it, minimum is afew hundred to be pre-made to be cost effective.
To screenprint a logo/design need around 40-50 minimum to be cost effective. then names - can just do afew names at a time.
hope that makes sense... Happy Brainstorming :)

Chris, better don't do that mate. Othewise, people might come to CCC and ask "i want to challenge the hurricane" and expect a half decent player.
Instead, they get a person who has a lot of hot (hopefully shots) air.

Hi everyone!
You've all gotten me thinking more about the logo design, supper was great last night, some good discussion was happening. This is my first design idea, mainly created to set up some way of displaying all of my designs. The Canterbury site is very useful to look at different sports T-shirts, also good for stealing T-shirt images from, I've included the site if you'd like to have a look.
This logo idea is actually Kevin's. At one of the three tables during supper, Kevin and Kee (maybe the slightest bit intoxicated) suggested that the CCC logo be a copy of the Wimbledon logo, but with the equipment appropriately adjusted. So it's an idea!
Looking at the overall T-shirt design, I've picked up previous ideas which seem to work well - such as the player name and large logo on the back and small logo on the front - and including a circle in the logo design works quite well; looks good, well-balanced, covers the center of the back, represents unity, blah blah blah...
Please let me know what you think of CCC TSD1 (T-shirt Design 1)! :D

Hi S1!
Nice "rough" effort! I'll try to give some constructive critique on each of your logo designs, going clockwise from the top:
1) Good idea to separate the title with the figure. Being the least solid of forms, depending on the printing/materials, do you think that it could peel easily? (Was it both the logo and player name in iron-on material, or just one?)
2 & 7) I didn't notice the Nike tick till I read DP's comment on this image, actually, I'll just compare the two similar ones now - I'd say that the left logo is better because it's a more convenient squarish shape and I like the single underline. (Sorry, another question, how necessary is the addition of the cccbadminton website to the club logo?)
3) Honestly, I reckon this is the least appealing of your designs in the post. It's a bit too geometrical and symmetrical. Got to love the simplicity, but it just resembles a street sign! (We should hang one outside Gate 4.)
4) I agree with Chris, unsophisticated, this would be my favourite too. Also having straight lines like the others, but nice rounded edges. I think it works as a logo for a friendly and approachable club.
5) As in each of the logos, it seems that you like really simple fonts, which would make sense for logo designing, but somehow I think that there's too much contrast between the shuttlecock and the font style. The shuttle image is interesting, maybe the cork part needs to be bigger, looks a bit like a fan right now.
6) Yay! More giant popcorn-swatting... haha! Just kidding. I think there's something about this figure's lines that make the club look kind of dated, less dynamic than it is. (I hope that I'm making sense...)
In my opinion, the most noticeable thing is your decision to not put 'www.cccbadminton.com' and 'club' together, but I don't know if you chose to for a purpose. I think that the word club is very important as part of the CCC logo.
Great designing work S1! I'm really glad that kelvin_k and you have shared your ideas (I thought people were beginning to pile all the pressure on me... but I've been saved!), we still need more concepts to generate ideas and finally make a club decision. Let's see some more (or more requests)!
See you on Friday! :D

Well done guys for design logo+opinion!
As Chris would say things are to be moved into stages, i think we are almost pass the "get everybody start talking" stage then now the design is out, we can be at the "asking opinion stage".
So, let's go around and ask people what they think. I for one like the same one as Chris cos i think it's more symmetrical and simple design.
Maybe we could print a few of the logo for tomorrow nite's supper for opinion.

I'll try to give some constructive critique on each of your logo designs....
Hello M@,
I have been meaning to say thanks so much for your comments. Sorry for the delay in replying back, but I been reading your story over & over to see where we go… so in response..….
Not sure whether we will iron on or screen print the logo – all depends on the size, position & quantity. The names will definitely be iron-ons.
yeah DP’s nike tick confused me until it clicked!
Agree, bin the road sign shape one!
The shuttle silhouette is alrite, the thing with that is its simple and easy to reproduce big or real small. Will look good on front left or right of shirts. Not sure if its too original though.
Simple fonts are easy to reproduce, and easier to read in an instant at first glance. The shuttle is more arty – maybe be able to use in a different format though.
I sortof like action shots within a logo, but agree that one needs work. The ccc website words with the logo I’d say is more a positional. you wouldn’t put it on shirts with a small logo unless it was big like in no.2, but could put it on say some printed matter if the size was readable. I’ve been thinking….do we put the words ‘club’?, I mean CCC is a club, but is it an official registered ‘club’? with eg being with a committee structure & the legal entity numbers, or doesn’t that matter.
Hey M@, did you know that on Friday night 4-5 people enquired on CCC Merchandise! :) :)
For now I just tried DP’s idea of combining No. 2 & 4…. But DP… not really a happening thing at the moment… :( at least it looks less of a nike tick now!. will play another day.

Hey Jason, I loved the design at the bottom right (one with a badminton inside the "o"). I would LOVE to order at least two if we do go through with this =)
Cheers and GREAT work buddy, MUCH appriciated!

Greetings,
Agree... the white shuttlecock to form the "o" looks great. :):):)
However, the black shuttlecock to dot the "i" doesn't look necessary.
On the whole, if we have one player, one racket and one shuttlecock to complete the logo, I think it should look GREAT.
Hope to get more feedback from other members@ccc.:cool::cool:

Add a little stylising and overlap and we have a smash, stand back and it looks (a little) like a shuttle. Something about it reminds me of a court jester though.

Regarding your last 2 images,
i just feel that i like the right one better as it looks more simple.
And the left one with ccc on left and badminton on the right looks kind of odd. Personal opinion anyway.
DP+smashed_1, any chance of printing any of these for tonite's supper discussion?

Don't know how many interested members@ccc saw it... but personally, I think it's great... and I think CCC can do the iron on as displayed on the sample.

Hi everyone,
My name is Andrew Dan. And I would like to volunteer to the club T-SHIRT officer for CCC Badminton Club.
The design of the T-shirt (they are dri-fit ones, haha) are as below.
The CCC members will just have to choose a logo for CCC badminton club to be printed on the back of the T-SHIRT.

I think the one on the top right hand corner, with the sort of Nike tick and the ccc badminton website has the top vote....
All ccc members and non-members, please vote for your favourite logo k to be printed on the T-Shirts k.

Sorry for the disappointment David,
My plans of getting the shirts into Australia got interrupted. So there is no T-shirt for CCC badminton club.
I'm afraid you'll have to wait. Will let you know once the T-shirts are being done.

Hi Andrew,
Last night, Thursday 14-May-2009, at our session at Aqualink Box Hill you said you might be able to recommence this project soon.
We have another Queenslander, kong-19, also anxiously waiting for his order of 2 CCC T-shirts to be sent to Brisbane. Hope that you still have the 'Order List' with you. ;););)

It has been a very very long wait for some, but the CCC badminton T-shirts are finally ready. As the shirts are produced in Malaysia, it will take a few weeks for them to arrive.
Please refer to picture below...113345113346
This is Protech latest designed T-shirt made with dry-fit material that will pull away sweat to help keep you dry and comfortable even during the most intense badminton match.
Please note:
-The color of the shirt is actually light blue (looks white in the pic probably due to the lightings and camera)
-Stocks and sizes are rather limited. Anyone interested should inform Chris so he can have them reserved for you.
-All these T-shirts are sold at cost price to CCC members for $10 per item. (1 item per member)

Yes, for CCCers to order, please inform me.
Note: As was discussed at our club sessions, because there is a difference between the Malaysian and our Australian T-shirt sizes, there is no need to state what size when ordering.
I shall bring different sizes to our sessions for members to try them on.
