He is actually not a badminton player. He is, as far as I know, a hurdler from China. (:
He is the 2004 Athens Olympic Gold medallist in '110. hurdling'.

Maybe it's not exactly about the income, but I've read that Lin Dan is short of money right now because of his struggle for the maintenance of his name.

though aren't there 2 other chinese players who make up 'the great wall' when it comes to the chinese national basketball team?
surely they must be making loads of money as well.
