it seems to me that his body is un-proportioned. he has a massive lower body (obviously) but his upper body seems really really skinny.

Yes, he does seem a little skinny but look at the general physical profile of badminton players. They tend to be wiry, lean and mean. Huge upper body muscle mass does nothing to enhance their game.

Hardly. I think it's quite cool. In Europe, it's not uncommon to have these types of images shown and probably not as big a deal than as seen through Asian eyes (or viewed by Asian minds).

I know its common in Europe. Even Gas stations have loads of Topless Girls pics in a Magazine. But the way the picture is done is like a 3rd grade photoshoot. His body is un-proportioned, the lighthing exposes too much skin, not much shadows, boring background... not artistic at all.

..well, personally, i understand the picture was taken for somekind of a "naked high profile centerfolds/figures" magazine, but IMO, i don't really see the point of shooting him in that pose. Is it to popularize badminton by shooting Mr. Robertson in the nude?? I can understand if the motive, to take him in that nude pose, is to "attract" some readers in buying/reading, but still i don't really see much point in it...And sorry if this sounds a bit harsh, but to me the picture is on the verge of becoming "eye candy" and not for badminton but for the popularity of Mr. Robertson..:confused:

I'm afraid I disagree. I think it's done with a certain intention in mind and has enough taste to pull it off. If you noticed at the top of the pic, it's got the name "Cosmo" which presumably is Cosmopolitan magazine. Such shots shouldn't come as a surprise in thesee fashion magazines and certainly don't really shock their readers. The background is perfect for such a concept as the staarkness does not take away from the subject.

Isn't it because it's a popular badminton player portrayed in a provocative manner–which totally flies against the conservative nature of the sport–that has some people closing their eyes in denial? I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. :)
