Woon Fui is a good player. His smashes are powerful but he and Fairuz are inconsistent.I think they did a good job defeating Cai/Fu in the 2006 World Cup.It was a great match ;)

A young but not so new pair! Does anyone know when they teamed up??
Fairuz and Woon Fui give surprises when you don't expect it, like when they won KKK-TBH in the KL Open and Grand Prix, or Cai-Fu in the World Cup!

Oh gosh, I hope that does not happen!!!!
They are probably the only pair in the world with an unbeaten record over KKK-TBH!!!!
They must be pretty talented to do that.......

JaCk™
03-23-2007, 10:33 AM
But Rexy said before that he might consider breaking up their partnership if they fail to do well. and they did badly in AE.

meiying

I dont think Rexy will break them up.
But maybe after World Championship will if they still not producing good results.

ya,agree with u.Better not separate them now...

JaCk™

Why not split them up and produce a good pair like KKK/TBH? remember our malaysia no.1 pair of KKK/CCM was split up before Asian Games and KKK/TBH went on to win a gold? maybe another new pair can do well in the WC.

You cant split them up now. I dont think the new pair will able to gain the qualification to WC(with just one tournament left to qualified).

then pls pls split them up after WC n do suprise us with another great legendary pair. coz they havent been performing well until this moment except for the unbeaten record against KKK/TBH.

this pair have potential.....they jus lack the mental strength.....and their smashes are not that powerful......sometimes they tend to get fancy and make mistakes too.....especially fairuz....

JaCk™
03-24-2007, 02:15 AM
fairuz like to play fancy with cross net and woon fui like to dive around on court. this pair still inconsistent. i hope rexy will make woon fui partner with teik chai. both are fighters.

........hmmmm fancy shots always end up killing the ones who practice it not the opponents. look at LCW, and then look at LD for example.

JaCk™
03-24-2007, 09:31 AM
Lin Dan game is very straight forward and emphasize on smashing from baseline. LCW prefer to let opponent run around the court rather than killing the shuttle. Perhaps LCW does not have the power to smash deadly from baseline.

alfa-2
03-24-2007, 12:06 PM
yes.....it can be seen on LCW's game. as i have said before, LCW should improve on his attacking play. get more km/h out of his smashes might help.

JaCk™
03-25-2007, 03:12 AM
Our doubles player should also get more power in their smash. Still cannot compare with FHF smash. So far, LWW/CTF smash is good.

A bit difficult, our traditional strength had always been defence, not attack. Mindsets have to change.

other malaysia doubles might defend but you cant say that about KKK/TBH. they use their speed and drive to attack.

they are attacking when playing against CY/FHF. but after that, they lost confidence and keep losing in early rounds. in fact, i don't like their playing style. too fancy and inconsistent. should break this pair and form a new one.

alfa-2
03-25-2007, 11:15 AM
why do you mean by fancy? like LCW's style of play?

should enforce new rules in BAM so that players are not allowed to make fancy shots more than 5 times in a game. unless you are leading with 10 points ahead or having at least 8 match points in your hand. heheheh......

but fancy shot is difficult to judge. what is fancy shot? sometimes we use it when emergency or use it accidentally or use it purposely..

Badminton: Rexy breaks up two combinations after dismal results

By LIM TEIK HUAT

KUALA LUMPUR: Doubles chief coach Rexy Mainaky has decided to split the two-year partnerships of two combinations – Mohd Zakry Latif-Gan Teik Chai and Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari-Lin Woon Fui.
Southpaw Teik Chai will now partner right-handed Woon Fui while Zakry and Fairuzizuan, who are both right-handers, will forge the other new combination. Both pairs will feature in the Singapore and Indonesian Opens in May.
Rexy said that the results of Zakry-Teik Chai and Fairuzizuan-Woon Fui in the last four tournaments were unimpressive compared to the others and they also did not have a single international Open title to their names.
“I review the performances of the players every four months. Their results were not that good and I have decided that they will get different partners,” he said.
“They will be put to tests at the Singapore and Indonesian Opens and I will take it from there. They will not be playing in the Asian Badminton Championships (ABC) next month and now is a good time for them to work on strengthening their new partnerships.”
The national players resumed training yesterday after a one-week break and the two new pairs were at work in Bukit Jalil.
Splitting the Zakry-Teik Chai and Fairuzizuan-Woon Fui partnerships will not affect the chances of the new pairs’ participation in the Super Series tournaments.
“Their world ranking points are quite good and even with new partners they will still get to play in the main draw of 32,” said Rexy.
Veterans Lee Wan Wah-Choong Tan Fook are still the highest ranked pair at No 7 in the world rankings while All-England champions Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong have closed in at No 10.
Zakry-Teik Chai and Fairuzizuan-Woon Fui were ranked at 13th and 19th respectively.
Last year, Fairuzizuan-Woon Fui were the semi-finalists in the All-England and also emerged as the champions in the National Grand Prix Final. They came closest to winning an international title at the World Cup in China, losing to Indonesians Markis Kidho-Hendra Setiawan in the final.
The pair also featured behind Kien Keat-Boon Heong as the second entry for the men’s doubles competition at the Doha Asian Games last December and were eliminated in the quarter-finals. Zakry-Teik Chai were also semi-finalists in the All-England last year but have since faded on the international scene. They were beaten in the second round at the All-England and crashed out in the first round in the Malaysian, Korean and Swiss Opens this year.

They need all the exposure they can get - Rexy's idea of thrusting them deep into the ocean is a refreshing change to their development, together with the other juniors.

"Now this is the kind of opposition you will need to be able to beat in the future regularly, not your trainee peers at the academy".

Weeding out the weed from the wheat.

Fairuzizuan is an arabic word.it should be fairuz izuan not fairuzizuan. But malay will pronounce Fairuzizuan more than Fairuz izuan .
