Ok, so for some reason, no one's posted this, as far as I've found. I played D MS, lasted two games (ouch!), 11-21, 12-21, and 15-21. WAH! The T-shirt's not too bad, kind of heavy, but the design is simple and good. Not extraordinary, but it's good. Got to see some ppl out there, it was awesome. Hope someone posts results soon.

Results will be posted after all events are finished. IN the meantime, why don't you go watch the games and share any comments you have here? I assuming you will be there watching some finals today?

It's the experience that counts =)

Of course, the results will probably be published later, but I thought it was odd that they never posted the signups here, and so I thought I'd do so. I actually didn't go see the other categories, I think my friends might have done so.
Yes, thank you. It was a great experience, I love the shirt, and it was fun (we were playing on the empty courts in between matches) with all the buddies and familiar faces I saw there. Hope someone posts pics and other stuff soon!:D
no pics from me. the organizer didn't allow us to go there to take pictures and sell them. ah well.

Really? No pics? Odd. My family and lots of other ppl were filming tho, and Wayne Lum came out to take pics. That's very strange.

Hi Kwun,
It's David, the "mean" BAOpen organizer. :) Again, I apologize for the rule. However, as I have mentioned in the email, you are allowed to take pictures but not for re-sell. I also mentioned in the email that if a player request his/her picture removed from the site that you would take it off from your site when you do take picture during the Bay Area Open.
I do take great caution for all tournament participants and future of the tournament. I put this restriction to protect them, clubs, organizer, and myself since the only way you can sell and take picture is when you have their approval (or waiver).
I hope you understand and I do apologize for the strict rules. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me. I was kind of surprised to see your post on your forum regarding our email conversation. I just want to make sure that we are OK.
Anyway, results will be posted Wednesday and pictures will be posted next week after I received the images from Wayne.
Likewise, you might see some clips of Bay Area Open at KICU-36 in around 2-3 weeks (if I am correct) under their High School Sports Focus (www.sportsfocus.tv) program. They came by on Saturday and Sunday for couple of hours each day to do interview and take some shots to cover the sport of Badminton. Hope this helps promote the sport.
Sincerely,
David Chiu, Very "Mean" Tournament Director
Bay Area Open
David,
it wasn't my intention to make you look "mean". hiroisuke was looking for photos and as we are usually the ones who take photos in local tournaments, i had to explain why we got none. i was just reiterating your policy, which of course we respected.
in the future, maybe you should consider a waiver that allows photography. as far as i can tell from player's reactions, they are quite excited to see themselves in badminton photos. sport event photography is very common on almost every other popular recreational and competitive sports in the US and we are just trying to do the same for badminton. there is no reason why badminton should be inferior in this respect. in fact it might make your tournament more popular than it already is! :)
unfortunately it is hard work and a huge time investment/sacrifice and it won't be feasible to do it without the ability to offset our cost. as a result, we ended up re-prioritizing our schedule.
