Hi everyone, just curious as to what you do with your broken rackets? I have personally never broken one, but if I did it would most likely collect dust somewhere in my house. I was just pondering as to what people might do with broken rackets and I came up with these:
- Practical joke (Pretend to snap someone elses racket when its your own)
- Salvage (Collect a pile of T-joints?)
- Weapon (Deadly stuff)
- Mold them back together or fix them somehow (Yeah right)
- Play with them anyway (Agianst horrible players)
- Make a pile (Eventually)
- Sell them somehow (Cover up the crack)
Couldn't think of anything else, maybe you could add to the list?
Sorry if I brought about any bad memories people lol

i know someone who fixes them and still plays with them... not sure the reasoning behind it

Anywho... mine, i think i gave them away to people who asked for them... one that snapped at the cone, i kept the shaft & head portion since they were still intact, and then ended up using as a quick econo-clothing drier... mainly for t-shirts, waving it around in the air, after having rung it out. :P

There are always parts you can salvage like the grommets and grip. Otherwise it's pretty much useless unless you have some sentimental attachment to it.

I get so attached that I can't throw them out.

Although now I have to save them all to show them to the brand rep to explain why I keep having them send me racquets all the time...

You can always put the rackets in the hall of fame!

I just salvage everything I can and then wrap the head up to make a nice fan.

I kept more expensive broken rackets around and use them to practice swing action indoors. The reason of not using my real racket for this: sometimes I hit something when I practice, and if it's already broken racket I don't care.

used to keep em for yrs. then realized that it's just collecting dust.
so i throw em all away in one shot. never look back.

I get attached so i keep em', but i steal the grommets (Musclepower ones) and transplant them to other racquets, and use the handles if theres a crack on the others.

You can re-use those broken rackets as training rackets - assuming the racket was broken at its frame. How? Cover totally all the frame and shaft with cheap towel grips. You'd probably need about 7 cheap towel grips to cover every surface of the racket. That's it. Then, use it in doing shadow badminton.

I only broke 2 in my 20 yrs playing (tapping wood):
- cab21, broken when doing run-and-hit-between-the-legs (bad idea, never again), it was twisted so bad that I can't even put back to the cover so just thrown away.
- Boron2, frame cracked at 4 o'clock, can see all the graphite inside. However someone got in fixed (seems melt back together) for me. I gave it to my sister since can't put too much tension onto it.

When i was in india, i used to fix them and use it with friends who dont play badminton but want to play with you for fun. If the racket is beyond salavage then strip them of all gromments, handle, screws and original grips. Then dispose the graphite safely wrapped in bubble wrap.

I tried to make a slingshot for my kid brother, out of the remaining Oframe after the shaft fractured terribly. Needless to say that didnt last too long (but was fun while it did ^^).

(o<)-- x-== (the x is the point of cracking)

That is so creative  I'm for sure gonna do that when I break my racket and when I am not using it to dry stuff I am gonna wrap it up and use it as a fan just like fishmilk :p

I have 5-6 old rackets on the shelf in addition to the main and spare that I use weekly. Three years ago I broke one and threw it in the garbage. There is no room to collect parts that I will never use.

I keep my 2 favorite but still broken racekts i my bag with all my good racekts, i consider them jsut big lucky charms. lol. The rackets palyed great for me when they were alive, so i keep them in my bag to keep there spirits alive. lol. Also, i keep them there to remind myself to always be careful with my rackets because, unfortuantly they can be very delicate

I used mine for a couple of things before throwing it out...

First, I used it tp whack my bedsheets and blankets (you know, to get rid of the dust) then I used it to spin around my fingers...(put ur finger next to the t-joint and start whirling around)...

After that I cut off the strings and bent the frame that was already broken all the way backwards until it broke in 2 places just to see how durable it was...

I was gonna stand on what was left of the frame and try to ben the handle back to see how far it would go before the shaft snapped but I forgot...Instead I went looking for a hatchet to find he t-joint before throwing it away...
