Why do people keep saying that certain player can win if he/she "WANTS"??? If a player lose, then it just means he can't win that day... no more excuse. Can anyone show me a player that never "WANTS" to win??? If so, I will play against him/her everyday.:p

Well .. when someone says "he can win if he really wants it " it means that he must put all efforts to win . It's not he same meaning as I WANT TO WIN, because i can say i want to win against Lin dan but i'll never win against him !
But Simon Santoso is a great badminton player .. then we can say if he wants to win the match he can make it but only by giving every he can in the match.
And Me and Yannie know Simon Santoso, and we like him as a badminton players but also as a person .. then it's quite difficult to see someone insulting a friend.

What differentiates a world class best player from the inferior ones isn't talent. It's the mind. And if a player only wins when "he wants to", then he isn't that great.
Great players are able to perform and grind match after match, under heavy pressure. That's the difference between the elite players and those who win a few times.
Besides, we're not talking about Simon being a bad person, and even less insulting him. We're talking about winning and performance.
I can give you an example: Tiger Woods. He's got talent, but above all, he's got the mind and dedication to win and be competitive every time.

Vas-y Hongyan! Finis le 2nd set!!! GO GO GO!!

..esp. the *younger* ones, are simply just not up to par and not consistent enough to compete in the higher starred tourneys...Sure they might show a few flashes here & there but for whatever reason(ie. could be skill/technique, stamina, mentally) players like Simon, Sony, Joko&HendraAG, Markis&Hendra S. even Tommy Sugiarto and the rest are just not....good enough....Simple as that...:p ;)
Reality is, the only shining star for INA is still Taufik..but, unfortunately, i'm sure you guys know his other persona behind his talents.. :( :o :p

It's true that Taufik is still INA's best bet...however...I still believe that the young players will eventually show their quality (esp Tommy). Hendra A.G./Joko Riyadi are sent to compete in higher ranked tourneys only starting this year.

It does not surprise me to see that they beat the 3/4 seeds, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them go even further. I've played against Bob Malaythong and I can say that he is a great great player. To be honest I think that in the pairing, Bob Malaythong is the better player. We all know that Tony Gunawan carried Bach in the WC. Nothing against Bach, he's still an amazing player, but Tony could have done better. But Malaythong is truly amazing, it doesn't matter how off balance he is, he still manages to get his weight going into a smash. He hits winners from the back line against Canada's top U23 national pair. He and Bach should do some serious damage.;)
