Are they national team members? Or are they top Juniors? What were their accomplishments before? I have no clue... But they are seeded by the organizers, so they must have done something right... :)

The Indonesian that are seeded in this tournament performed very well in Indonesia's 2006 Junior National Championship... So I assume that was a factor. But for the other competitors, I wonder what was the background reasoning behind the seeding.

Because almost all of these names were not in the BWF ranking... So that can't be the base for putting them as seeded players.

i know the danish players well as i've played them before.

mads conrad is the reigning U17 6 nations champion and could win the U19 Europeans this year. Is very good at doubles aswell. I think he won U19 Langenfeld this year aswell-one of the top european junior tournaments.

He partners Mads Kolding and they have won the 6 nations a few times including the U19 6 nations a year young last year in Milton Keynes. They won the Danish Cup a year early aswell last year. They got to the semis of the German Junior last year losing to the winners from Malaysia 13 in the 3rd(old scoring)

Mads Kolding and Line Kruse Danish Cup a year ealry last year and have won their 6 nations age comfortably the last few times. They won Langenfeld this year and came runner up in the German Junior last year losing to Dean George and Marianna Agathangelou.

These two players did well at Worlds Juniors aswell, not sure exactly but quite well.

Christian Skovgaard and Christian Larsen are a tricky pair and have upset Mads Kolding and Mads Conrad this year a few times I think at Langenfeld and Danish Cup this year. Both these pairs are big challenges for the European title this year.

Line Kruse is an accomplished doubles player and her usual partner of last year is too old and she has won U22 4 nations, 6 nations and Danish Cup before. Joan Christansen hasn't won anything substantial but is an upcoming player from Denmark so with Line Kruse they could be a good pair.

Karina Jorgensen is a good flowing singles player. Good drop shots. She came runner up in last years 6 nations and has come runner up in Langenfeld before.

I don't know who Anne Fald is.

The others are all Danish national players and could do well at these championships.

I know Line Kruse as we were in the same high school - Marselisborg Gymnasium, situated near the city centre of Aarhus, and next to NRGI Arena - The Arena where Denmark Open 2004-6 were held.

Line is a Team-Denmark sport-student. Sport students from different sport disciplines are gathered in one class and have fewer lessons than ordinary high school students, therefore study one year more than the rest. They are allowed to skip school to compete in tournaments. She is now in year 4 - the last year of high school for Team-Denmark students.

Thanks Ben, thanks Yannie... :)

It is more fun if the top Danish Juniors are also competing... Then the tournament really feels 'world-class'...

I wish the Danes would also go to Milo Junior International [Asia's equivalent of the Dutch Junior and German Junior] in Bandung, West Java, this year. But maybe a bit too far for them. ...Oh well.... :)

German Juniors 2007 saw the performances of more top international juniors than Dutch Juniors 2007... Since the top Koreans and the top Danes also came to join the fun... :)

In the end, the final score is:
Korea 2 [MS and WD]
Indonesia 2 [WS and MD]
Malaysia 1 [XD]

I am pretty happy that Indonesia's youngsters can still compete with the rest of the world. Although... the real test will come in Asian Juniors 2007 and World Junior Championship 2007 when the Chinese youngsters will also compete... :)

Because almost all of these names were not in the BWF ranking... So that can't be the base for putting them as seeded players. You are right about the confusion. The juniors aren't ranked so seeding is tricky. There was a re-draw at the World Junior Championships in Incheon to correct unrealistic seedings that were at first based solely on BWF rankings. This gave preference to those players who had competed on the adult circuit. They ended up giving more weight to regional junior tournaments. That only partially explains the seedings of some of the Koreans. Some of the Koreans also did well at this tournament last year.

Where did you get these names, by the way? Several are in the wrong order so that might explain why their accomplishments weren't easy to find.

First the easy ones: Bae Youn-joo (this is her correct name) in girls' singles and Lee Jung Hwan/Kim Ki Jung in boys' doubles were semi-finalists at the World Junior Championships last November so that explains their seeding. Lee and Kim were also runners-up in the Mongolia Satellite last September and reached the QF of the Mumbai Satellite.

Park Sung Min reached the quarter-finals of the WJC. Kim Ki Jung/Jung Kyung Eun (this time her name appears in the correct order but under singles, you have the same player listed asJung Eun Kyung[sic]) reached the round of 16 at the WJC and also the R16 of the Malaysia Satellite in November, and the QF of the Mumbai Satellite so they likely had BWF ranking points.

Jung Kyung-eun was a girls' doubles finalist at the German Juniors last year with a different partner and her present partner, Choi Ha-na, was in the round of 16 last year so they likely had a high "notional ranking".

Jang Ye-na was in the German QF last year in doubles, too, so that might explain her seeding with her new partner. Her partner, Eom Hye Won, was also second at the Asian U-17 championships in Japan last November.

Chung Eui Seok/Kim Young Sun reached the round of 16 at the Malaysia Satellite tournament and the QF of the Mumbai satellite in November last year so they may have some BWF ranking points.

I think that explains the seedings of all of them. It is a combination of success in past junior tournaments and of ranking points from BWF-sanctioned satellite tournaments. The only one I can't find any accomplishments for is Jang Sung-ho, unless you count his R32 finish at the German Juniors last year. Maybe that's enough for a seeding these days.

Is that the same person? They and German Mona Reich in girls' singles were the only Europeans in the quarterfinals of any event at the World Juniors.

BWF should have a set announced seeding policy for the juniors...:) For the adults, there is very little confusion since the system is so clear. Including the notional ranking system for doubles etc...

One note: China seldom send their junior players abroad lately. It is harder to see their junior prospects, thus it is harder to give reasons to seed them. Yet... I still think it is fair if BWF decides to put China's top junior as one of the top 4 seed in Asian Junior or World Junior.... without knowing their record outside China. Why? Because of the last 10 years' results: China has been consistently dominant in almost all events at the senior and junior level.

Possibly. At the world junior championships, there were plenty of Chinese. They only won two golds at the WJC and at the AJC. Wang Yihan was the top seed at the WJC, primarily on the basis of her win in KL. There were plenty of other seeded Chinese competitors there, too.

i'm surprised forza doesn't sponsor all the danish juniors to promote their image, since yonex has pretty much a monopoly on the seniors except for martin lungaard (no idea what the senior ladies use though).

In Incheon, all the Chinese juniors were sporting Kason racquets and uniforms. Yonex still had the monopoly on virtually every other top team, though, including the Korean, Malaysian, and Indonesian teams. There is lots of Victor at domestic tournaments in Korea, though, especially on younger teams.

Anne Hald is a very young talentfull singleplayer. She is very young. I saw her in Incheon at WJC.
