I have seen one or two matches of TBS/OSH. I think they are arguably the weakest pair among Malaysian MDs. Their big problem is offense. No matter how good your defence is, you can hardly score using defence only. Basically, good defence gives you chance to attack, but if you do not have strong offense, after a while you have to defence again. The only pair who can beat Cai/Fu using mainly defence is Candra/Sigit.

Just checking the results this morning and I see Fu/Cai won convincingly after dropping the 1st game. This will certainly help them mentally because of their recent mental block against MAS pairs. Congrats to them, my prediction was off the mark.

Shocked to see Hafiz go down so tamely to Sony. WMC's win was nice but not totally unexpected. The MAS supporters on BC seemed to be celebrating like she's won the whole dang thing :p :p. Biggest upset was the POL win over the seeded KOR pair in MD. From recent results, you could see the Poles doing decently but to win like that certainly constitutes a major upset. Both Tony/Candra and GL/HS taken to 3 games... is age a common factor in these results. Will that affect matches later in the competition? What's happening with BCL? Taken to 3 games by Vaughan of Wales–not convincing at all:rolleyes: Finally a good win for Greysia/Vita over the tough ENG pair in hostile conditions.

Li Mao usually leaves, once he realizes that China has done its analysis on his player(s), and his players has not became world-champ at the time. Look at LHI's case, Li Mao left as soon as China started kicking LHI's rear end... then look at LCW's case, it's the exact same thing.

Still, Li Mao is smart to realize that the only two country that he can make a decent living out of coaching badminton are Malaysia and Korea, so I bet he will constantly be switching between these 2 countires.

Yeah I know he's totally dominant at the moment. But he does lose sometimes, and that's usually when people least expect it (eg. against PSH). I'm not expecting him to lose but if CJ plays, I'd like to see if he can do any better than in the KO. And if LCW makes the finals against him, then it will be the first time in a fair while that they have played each other. It would be interesting to see if LCW can still stretch LD to 3!

TH has been playing out most of his games against LD recently :). LCW vs LD has always been very exciting as well though. LCW or TH vs LD is just about always a great match. I hope LCW can get back to his old self... I think LD's technique is very good and more fluent now though.

...after reading(and surviving:p) thru all the posts & pages, i'm surprised at how long this thread has gone:eek: :rolleyes: ...surely, i can tell, there was definitely a big group of very enthusiastic M'sian fans following & cheering on the matches..and we're only on the 3rd leg of the SS tourneys..:p:D;)

Anyways, i know as i'm writing this, all the matches aren't officially finished, but just want to comment on some early surprises:
- Another wonderful effort by WMC over an up & coming CHN player, WangLin, in 3 sets..
- INA's XD pair of FLimpele/VMarissa(seeded) losing to KOR's LeeYD/HwangYM in straight sets..
- SonyK's victory over (a seeded)HafizH in 2 sets..probably not a surprise to MAS fans..;)
- POL's MD victory over KOR's (seeded) MD pair in 2 sets..
- KOR's scratched MD pair's victory over INA #1 MD pair(seeded) in 2 sets..
