Actually I think the 21pts system is good for China. Now players like Cai/Fu and LD only need to accelerate once in a game to ensure victory. Back in the old days, maybe they need to accelerate to top speed 2 or 3 times each game, and even LD cannot do that some times.

But it is not healthy for badminton if dominated by one country and that is partly why, it is considered as an Asian sports and the $$$ winning is so small and yet the game is tougher to play as hell (I mean at a high level), and as some BCers said, it is boring to see all CHN SF's. Just watch, when we have all CHN MS SF, I bet the thread in BC will drop big time than if we have LCW or especially Mr. TH in the final. Take tennis for instance, it is wide open and very competitive among nations, and the $$$ winning is huge.

Although I don't like to see all Chinese SF, credit should be given to them. They deserve what they have achieved today as a result of their hard work and training. I read somewhere in news the other day that Chinese team even did't have CNY holiday and you can see their determination to do well in every tournament. Compared to Msia team, who had a week break during CNY, this is the true spirit of champion. They totally deserve it and I have absolutely no complain to see their dominance continues.

what i meant is CJ can handle the usual threats of PG, KJ, TH, LCW and LYB can sleep easy from today. I don't mean CJ can guarantee a gold at 08 OG. For china, it doesnt matter LD, CJ, or BCL win the gold as long as china win the gold, silver and the bonus bronze.

Of course i remembered 04 OG. That is the exactly my point. CJ has the skill to win minus the pressure to win unlike LD. CJ is olympic ready. I guarantee CJ will be in the OG team.

Badminton as in tennis, MS and WS are premier event, even though MD is very exciting to watch, MD still plays second fiddle to singles and which fans would pay to fly to watch more than doubles. The present gap in MS, as you said, may not be that big and I somewhat concur, but when the aging stars PG, no-show TH and slowly-fading-no-so-young-anymore LCW quit and with no emerging young talents from the rest of the world, then I am not as optimistic as you that the gap is narrowing. WMC is like Miss David vrs the almighty Goliaths, WMC is standing on her head and performing very well not just in this AE but in the past 2 SS, all the kudos to her, but she is alone in her quest so far. In the past, we have young TH, Hrndrawan, Susi, Camilla, etc....who is coming up now, worthy of mention and yet CHN has teams of young guns lining up to replace the so-called over the hill group like ZN, that is scary. CHN with their 4 MS is like "gangster", they look to each other for comfort, solidarity, back-up and strength while the rest of the world is blessed with one single player (LCW in MAS, TH in INA, etc) in each country, lonely and no back-up...suddenly, the lone player feels threatened and scared shitless out there...hahaha! LOL!:p

That is no brainer, I told you Cooler that CJ is the one to watch and if I bet, I bet on him with much less pressure than LD, and with OG08 far away (2 years is a long time in the life of a professional player), CJ has lots of room to improve, while I (just I only) suspect LD is at his peak with very little room to improve...all LD needs is to keep up his health, no injury and be game sharp.

CHN deserve all the credits for their successes and CHN simply reaps the fruit of their hard labor, that we have no complain, it is fair game, you train hard, you play hard, all the powers to CHN...but we need international competition to make this game exciting and to grow. What do you think IBF held WC05 in USA, to grom the sport internationally. If CHN dominates as you support, then badminton as exciting as it should be, will be a backyard, regional, Asian sport. CHN players are professional players, if I guess correctly, winning and making the team is their sole source of livelihood, and what worse, CHN players have to split their winning with the team...but to Mr. TH winning is pittance, actually to train so darn hard to win miserable prize money is not even worth it to TH, TH makes far more elsewhere and the Danish makes more playing in their own leaque, and LCW is quoted as making >RM$300 last year alone. Therefore, I can see CHN getting stronger and stronger, and the gap is bigger and bigger, and for those who welcome CHN dominance, well your wish may well come true.
