View Full Version : Where to buy Yonex BG65 Reels
CoolDoo6 03-16-2007, 06:52 PM Does anyone know a good place for buying BG65 reels for delivery to UK ? I am looking for a good price on 1000m. mybadmintonstore had the best price I know but they no longer have stock. I contacted them, and it doesn't appear that they will restock any time soon.
cooler 03-16-2007, 08:01 PM Don't forget you would need some bulk size WD-40 to lub your 1000m bg65 http://www.instawares.com/wd-40-55-gallon.wdc10118.0.7.htm
LazyBuddy 03-16-2007, 08:08 PM www.badmintonshoponline.us has decent deals for 10 or 20 packs of BG65.

Thanks. They do appear to have some good deals. Unfortunatelty they only accept paypal payments.

I am beyond the need for WD40. I find all strings can be made powerful using the magic words Tension, Tension. This is why BG65 is such a powerful string worth buying lots of.
If you find your yellow Ti-10 a bit lacking in the power department, I'd suggest you give your thin BG66 a copious squirt of WD40.
Neil Nicholls 03-17-2007, 07:53 AM try W & D strings - www.watdon.com
phone them on 01580 752972 as they don't put much of their product range on their website

HOLEY MOLEY!!! 55 gallons??!!!! That's very pricey too.

then why bg65?...there must be something cheaper, or thicker (more durable: cheaper)
like ashaway rally 21....at 15 lbs a lifetime supply would be roughly 10 packs;)
if I were you I'd just mail every baddyshop in the UK askign for either a 1000m roll...or 3-4 200m rolls..and see who goes lowest

but it would be less wasteful than spraying wd40 and wipe. With a drum full, he can soak several reels of bg65 as long as necesary, like those chinese lizard tonic medicine;) CD6 can make back the money from selling 'pre-soaked' strings according to his recipe.

wouldn't paypal be safer than wire transfer or certified cheque? That assuming u have a credit card in the first place:p

I still don't know why he sprays wd 40 on the strings?? Does it last longer? more powerful etc.??

Cos BG65 has the best combination of durability, customer recognition, value for money, and abundance supply.
I have already secured a life time supply of MLXL for my own use. The BG65 is for restringing jobs.

No, no. WD40 is no secret at all, as I have already shared in the string mod thread. String power on the other hand, is a top, top secret. If you are willing to explore outside of the cage Yonex placed you in, perhaps you may find the secret for yourself. But then again, you may not. I stumbled upon the secret by accident. It took me a couple of times falling over it to realise what it was. :)

I can't imagine pre-soaked strings . . . :p

Don't get me involved with stuff like this. I'm all for improving ability, not maximizing equipment. At least not to "this" level. :p

WD Strings and WD40 are a perfect synergy. Thanks for the head up :). Much appreciated.
Neil Nicholls 03-22-2007, 10:47 AM Now that I have their catalogue available though, I see they are a fraction more expensive than http://www.rapidrepair.biz/rr-shop/Badminton-String-p-1-c-264.html
for 200m of BG65
WD are £45 + 17.5 % VAT - 5% discount => £50.23
WD are cheaper for BG80 and NGB95 and pretty good for Ashaway
edit:
I would say both places are excellent for customer service
Kelvin 03-23-2007, 02:34 PM I have not seen the 1000m reels of bg65 in quite some time...
But then again, I've only just come back to the sport, and trying to keep up to date with the market.
I do however know you can still purchase 500m reels.
If you do a ton of business, you might think of buying from shuttle house, they offer up some discounts off retail.
just buy an entire case!!
and you can have some to soak in WD40
some to leave as normal, for your customers.
CoolDoo6 03-23-2007, 06:14 PM I have already checked shuttle house. they are more expensive than shops in UK. This is not counting the delivery cost.
I don't believe there are 1000m reels. But 2x500m reels are good enough. But I probably have to settle for 5x200m reels. The string wasted by small reels would probably mean I would have 1 less cost-free string job.
clearalot 03-23-2007, 07:32 PM Why does someone with pockets full of Platinium cards is so concern about scraping out the last bit of string that worth 4$?
CoolDoo6 04-11-2007, 05:07 AM Why does someone with pockets full of Platinium cards is so concern about scraping out the last bit of string that worth 4$?
Well my friend, if one scraps, one might end up with an extra platinum card.
I just managed to do a deal on buy 4 BG65, get one BG65Ti free. So that's 22 cost free string jobs. Luvely jubly. BG65 is such good stuff, I am thinking of placing another order already !
LazyBuddy 04-11-2007, 10:25 AM Why does someone with pockets full of Platinium cards is so concern about scraping out the last bit of string that worth 4$?
If just personal usage, I agree the difference might be minimal. However, if you are a stringer, who can take 2-3 reels per month, some small percentage of saving can be quite big over long period of time.

with platinium card annual fee running from $100 to $450, it would take lotta leftover bg65 scraps to fund his new platinum card:rolleyes:
Assume u r perfect and make no mistake, and able to squeeze out 2 extra job per reel, at 7.2 USD saving per reel, u need to string 62.5 reels(200m rel) per year to pay for another platinum card. (assuming we are talking about extra string saving right?)
"In 1966 American Express introduced the Gold Card and in 1984 the Platinum Card, clearly defining different market segments within its own business, a practice that has proliferated across a broad array of industries. The Platinum Card was billed as super-exclusive and had a $250 annual fee (it is currently $450). It was offered by invitation only to American Express customers with at least 2 years of tenure, significant spending, and excellent payment history."
CoolDoo6 04-11-2007, 11:34 AM Well, in the UK, platinum cards are free. My Amex and other platinums are not only free here, they pay me 1% cash back every time I buy something.
I miss counted before. I get 22 + 2*4reels = 30 cost free string jobs in total on the 1km BG65's. With free strings coming out of my ears and the cash back adding up, hmmm, maybe I should get an extra plat plus a couple of classic Ti-10's with UHMG to go.
jerby 04-11-2007, 12:16 PM so, like...why brag about it on the forums...why not, you know, "just do it" (Nike Tm)?
you won't here me say how much rackets I've got sitting next to me right now...neither do you here Lazybuddy, Cooler and other guys with 30+ rackets proclaim what they'll get next...
cooler 04-11-2007, 12:26 PM CD6 miss counted twice.
4 reels x 2 free strings/reel= 8 free string jobs. (80m, assuming no mistake)
each 200m reel only yield enough for 20 regular string jobs
CoolDoo6 04-11-2007, 12:37 PM so, like...why brag about it on the forums...why not, you know, "just do it" (Nike Tm)?
I recently bought a pair of nike basketball shoes online to replace my worn out adidas. The shoes turned out too narrow and extremely badly designed with vice like reinforcements on the side of the little toe. Basically, the shoes turned into a torturing device. I am not sure if I should slung the shoes out of the window or what. For me at this moment, Nike tm should probably be "just can't do it!", or "do it with a hobble!" For a laugh, I might do a thread on my FeetTec V2.0 shortly which will bring to BC something novel.
Back to the strings. For people in the UK, a decidedly unhaggle-able nation: good string deals can be had if you are not too shy to ask for one. Good hunting all.

Gerard 04-19-2007, 04:53 AM Hi Cool Doo6
I have not seen 1000m rolls even from the main suppliers in the UK, however you can buy 200m roll from the following stores:
http://www.yehlex.co.uk
http://www.rapidrepair.biz
Good luck.
