Tonight, we saw an interesting SGS Elektrik doubles combo:
Taufik Hidayat-Flandy Limpele!-
The last time these powerful smashers appear was in the 2004 National Championship...
They played well, powerful backhands by Taufik, powerful firepower from Flandy... but in the end, the composure, persistent pressure, and shot-variety of the experienced doubles specialist: Luluk Hadiyanto-Mohammad Ahsan of Djarum defeated them...

During the game, the audience were saying "Give it to Taufik! Attack Taufik!" :p :p At one point, Taufik complained to the umpire. Before the umpire reacted, Luluk & Ahsan already signalled "quiet down please' to the crowd. They probably didn't want to see any ugly scene... like a few years ago ...when Taufik threw a punch to a very irritating INA spectator... :o
In INA we are allowed to make all sort of noises before they serve, during the point, during the smash attacks, during a long rally, anytime... And then we can shout out bla-bla-bla... without the umpire notifying us... Hahaha... :p From time to time, you will hear very very unfriendly comments, though... Mmm, such as: "Go back to the village and just farm, boy..." Ha ha ha... That's when a Taufik type player can erupt... :p :o

Maybe Krisna knows the details, super liga news in sport-page of daily newspaper has very limited space. And via internet, OoO it's totally very slow to update last result because no live-score facility.

Petya arrived with a slightly injured shoulder. The RSL shuttle is very slow and the hall is really humid with very bad aircond. This make the shuttle even slower and her elbow worse. And after she play to 3 sets with Wang Chen she has no more power in her right arm. She has been taking medicine and treating with ice. Hope she will be better soon.
She is such a nice lady.

I agree that Kompas and Jakarta Post give very little coverage on this subject. Those 2 newspaper have gone Wimbledon-tennis crazy! :p [in the past few days]

The coverage of the media is worst. I am very frustrated as the newspaper today can't give us the matched that played at 6.30 pm yesterday.
The official website is worst. they just updated the 6.30 pm result after lunch the next day

Well, I'm there everyday after work [only the games that start at 6:30pm]. So I will post whatever I know on BC at night. That way, our fellow fans can get the results faster... :p
Although... my capability is limited because I tend to watch the most interesting matchup up-close... which means my knowledge of the other 3 games [that are simultaneously playing] tend to be limited to the big picture score... :p

Djarum Superliga Badminton Indonesia 2007
Pasanagan Rioni/Aoyama kembali memperkecil ketinggalan menjadi 3-2 setelah menumbangkan Lingga Lie/Rizal 21-18, 21-15.
According to my [amateurish] wrap up, the league leaders and top contenders are:
Women Club Win Lose Match Win Lose
Djarum 3 - 0, 15 - 0
Tangkas 3 - 0, 14 - 1
Jaya Raya 2 - 1, 11 - 4
Today, Djarum vs. Tangkas! The battle of the [so far] undefeated clubs. I predict 4 - 1 Tangkas win... ;) The only win by Rosaria Pungkasari over either Yuan Kartika or Melicia Kurniawan... :p
Unless... Maria Kristin can defeat Wang Chen or Maria Elfira can defeat Yip Pui Yin... Unlikely, I think... :o

While Chen Hong didn't have enough gas to keep up with Kendrick Lee...

Indosiar TV only broadcast the finals of the Women's team and Men's team. This Saturday and Sunday afternoon.... On weekdays, just the recaps... :D
Taufik actually loves to play Men's doubles.... in Indonesia. Because in our country, he is often bored because no Men's singles here can really match him. Perhaps only Sony and Simon. He practices with them everyday. Maybe after 10 years in the National team, practicing Singles there is getting really boring. Ha ha ha.
So I heard from the National Team doubles players that Taufik sometimes would just practice with the MD team. He is damn qualified to be a world class MD. Although not TOP OF THE WORLD-class like Cai Yun - Fu Haifeng and KKK-TBH. :p
Xie Xinfang is supposedly also a very good doubles player. She won the WD Junior World Championship a few years back... Xie Xinfang once said in an interview that she is definitely a better doubles player than her boyfriend, Lin Dan... :p

Cool picture! Taufik looks worried there... Perhaps also tired since he played singles and doubles two days in a row! Today SGS plays against Ratih Banten. Maybe they will field Flandy-Yoga or something... Otherwise, Taufik won't have any energy to play against Kendrick Lee [Jaya Raya on Wednesday] and Chen Hong [Suryanaga on Thursday]...

Taufik-Flandy was good enough to beat M. Rijal-Lingga Lie, who are good XD players in the National Team. ;) Rijal went to the Swiss Super Series XD finals a few months ago... world-class enough. Lingga have won 2 Satellite tournaments in Asia... respectable doubles player.
Yeah, I still think Taufik-Flandy won't have a chance against KKK-TBH and Cai-Fu types...
Oh, when playing MD, Taufik did many trick shots. Behind the back, between the legs shots... because he knows Flandy can cover for him. :D So even though they might not win, the fans are happy... :D

Pasangan Flandy Limpele/ Taufik Hidayat menjadi penutup kemenangan SGS, setelah mengalahkan Lingga/M Rizal.
Wow, that's one looonngg article... basically, the articles said:
1st article
Kendrick Lee is quite fluent in speaking Indonesian [Bahasa Indonesia] because he often practice with Ronald Susilo. He also likes Padang [West Sumatran] food and it is easier to eat it here in Indonesia. It is a big opportunity for him to eat as much as he can. Also, he is dating Rita Teng, a Singaporean national bowler. And he is not thinking about getting married anytime soon because he wants to concentrate in badminton. School time is over for him, now it is badminton time.
2nd article
Kendrick Lee can be a threat. He defeated Chen Hong who is famous for mental stregth and skill. Kendrick was not intimidated by the World Number 3. He could subdue Chen's hard smashes etc. In the end, Chen got frustrated and made mistakes himself. "I am here to have more playing experience against the top players in the world." Bulutangkis Superliga
Jaya Raya Favorit di Peringkat Teratas
http://www.suarapembaruan.com/News/2007/06/27/Olahraga/27ligabu.gif
Tunggal putra tim Tangkas Jakarta, Simon Santoso, mengembalikan bola ke lapangan lawannya, Andre K Tedjono (Djarum Kudus), pada Djarum Superliga Badminton 2007 Indonesia di Gelanggang Olahraga Sumantri Brojonegoro, Kuningan, Jakarta, Selasa (26/6). Simon mengalahkan Andre 21-10, 16-21, 21-14. SP/YC Kurniantoro
Pasangan Candra Wijaya/Joko Riyadi menjadikan Jaya Raya unggul 4-1 setelah menundukkan Haryanto Arbi/ Liong Tiong Ping 21-11, 21-10. Today will pit Suryanaga against SGS in the men's. Chen Hong vs Taufik...a mouth watering tie....If SGS loses today, they will kiss their semi-final hope good bye. Djarum vs Jaya Raya is also a potential thriller (esp in the doubles).
I will prefer
MS1: Andre Kurniawan Tedjono vs Kendrick Lee Yen Hui -- Loh will be pleased of Kendrick's performance so far as Jaya Raya's first MS. If he wins, there is only a slim chance that Djarum can win the tie.
MD1: Rian Sukmawan/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki vs Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan -- two young pairs sparring against each other
MD2: Sigit Budiarto/Fran Kurniawan vs Candra Wijaya/Joko Riyadi -- oldie-newbie combo for both clubs...should be entertaining....

Also taken from the www.pbdjarum.com (http://www.pbdjarum.com) new web... A conversation between MD 2005 World #1 [Sigit] and MD 2004 World #1 [Luluk]... We have not seen them in action together...
http://www.pbdjarum.com/upload/pic3b624.jpg
I think best combination of Djarum pair is Sigit/Luluk. First title of Luluk in International tournament when he paired with Sigit.
If Djarum want to get 1 point from MD, they should play Sigit/Luluk as 2nd double (they have to choose Fran/Rian as 1st Double, Rian has higher rank than Luluk and Sigit and Fran are same).

Logical. Or... a better alternative than Fran-Rian as 1st doubles is Yoke-Rian... They are the new Djarum pair who will debut in the Thailand Open next week...

yes, it's better choice (I thaught that Yoke has lower rank than Sigit, just check it that Yoga-Yoke is higher than Sigit/Fran)
I don't know how count the new pair ranking in Superliga, based on BWF Ranking or not.

Yeah.. He left me offline messages 3 hours ago, and wrote that he's not playing - but it's ok, listed the MD players for Djarum, and said he hopes Sigit will do the best for team, hopes that Djarum can go to the final..
So let's see later.. whether Djarum will beat Jaya Raya or not.. Hmm?!

Chen Hong d Simon Santoso 2 sets
Tri Kus/Alven d Albertus/Yohan 2 sets

Yip Pui Yin d Maria Febe 21-13 22-20 (not sure 1st set score)
Jaya Raya d Djarum 3-2
Djarum lead 2-0
Adrianti Firdasari lost to Maria Kristin 6-21 7-11 ret.
Firda didn't look well when came on court, looked on her face expression and lost easily to Maria Kristin
Pia Zebadiah lost to Maria Elfira 8-21 15-21 (I think Pia should be focus on Double only, weak smash and no weapon as single player)
Greysia Polii/Rani Mundiatsi d Meliana Jauhari/Shendy Puspa 18-21, 21-18,21-14
Djarum almost swept the match by 3-0. Greysia's experience factor made te winning to Jaya Raya. Rani had trouble with weak return so the match was dominated by Djarum's power in early 1st set and 2nd set.
Fransiska Ratnasari d Rosaria Pungkasari 21-13, 21-10
Rosaria didn't look well, she didn't play for some previous matches and replaced by Febby Angguni. Wrong decision by Djarum "give" Maria Febe to Suryanaga while Rosaria & Sylvinna injury.
Pia Zebadiah/Nitya Khrisina d Yulianti/Rintan Aprilia 21-17 21-14
Rintan played badly in this match. Actually Yulianti played well but not ideal younger player as pair leader. Pia/Nitya played well, I said they played better than Greysia/Rani. They keep in aggressive play and forced the opponent made some error.

Yes, if Djarum had Maria Febe with them, then the results would have been different...:p I saw Febe destroyed Fransiska [Nana] in the Indonesian Open with a straight set... Nana could not play Febe well...

Taufik is a strong drinker! I am quite sure if both Lin Dan and Taufik consume 10 hard-liquor shots before their game, then Taufik will destroy Lin. Ha ha ha...

Hi CLELY, do you know about third/fourth placing for men between TANGKAS vs DJARUM this morning... how about the detail of score...
Based on suarakarya-online, Men's Team third/fourth position match will be played after Women's Team Final. Don't know if any changes of this schedule.
Back to Women's Team Final, Greysia/Rani has made Jaya Raya chance still alive! They defeated Jo/Endang, 20-22 ; 21-6 ; 21-10. Now, fourth match between Fransiska Ratnasari (Jaya Raya) against Yuan Kartika (Tangkas).

Same score, 2 - 2 for Jaya Raya and Tangkas after Fransiska win over Yuan, 21-13 ; 21-18. The last match as decider, obviously Tangkas will win the President Cup for Women's Team, no hope for Jaya Raya. Lilyana/Vita vs Pia Zebadiah/Nitya Krishinda, what a different class...

Pui Yin menang 21-23, 21-15, 21-14.
Setelah mendahului kedudukan 2-0, dua wakil Tangkas seterusnya gagal meneruskan dominasi rentak cemerlang apabila lawan berjaya menidak setiap langkah hingga membolehkan kedua-dua pasukan terikat 2-2.
Berkat pengalaman luas di arena antarabangsa, gandingan Vita/Lilyana akhirnya memecah kebuntuan Tangkas pada perlawanan penentuan dengan menundukan pasangan Pia Zebadiah/Nitya Krishinda.

PERSEORANGAN JULANG NAMA SURYANAGA GUDANG GARAM
Selain Ng Wei, mata Suryanaga Gudang Garam berjaya dihasikan menerusi sentuhan pemain nombor dua dunia, Chen Hong dan jaguh tuan rumah, Sony Dwi Kuncoro.

After his match, I asked chen hong what happened in the 1st set. He said he was not warmed up until 2nd set. He also said he purposely made the game interesting by playing tight points. While he was doing that the whole team almost had hear attacks!!!! :):):)
But he did not mean to take credit from Kendrick. He agreed that Kendrick had improved. Kendrick improved due to Asep and Jeffer as his coaches. Jeffer was on SNGG team on that day. He also said that Kendrick had the discipline and mental toughness to take it to the next level.

Hmm, double lost for Jaya Raya! Actually, Taufiq Akbar could win the deciding match against Ng Wei which spent more than 1 hour. What a pity, Taufiq has made many unforced-errors in critical points especially at 2nd set. Don't look any level difference between both of them despite Ng's WR now is 23 meanwhile Taufiq is just 206.

Chen opened the scoring for Surya Naga by beating Kendrick Lee of Singapore 15-21, 21-18, 21-14.

Surya Naga retook the lead with Sony Dwi Kuncoro beating Ronald Susilo of Singapore 21-11, 13-21, 21-16. Jaya Raya again won the double match by Hendra Setiawan and Joko Riyadi to make the third men's singe match a decider.

"I had to win this match because Surya Naga is much stronger in the singles. I feel pleased that I could finally win the title for my team," Ng was quoted Mondya by English daily The Jakarta Post as saying.
The defeat was a double blow to top team Jaya Raya, which on Saturday also lost in women's team final to Jakarta rival Tangkas.

Wanted: Big hitters for Indonesian badminton
Sports News - Tuesday, July 03, 2007
Damar Harsanto, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta
A vocal crowd of Indonesian supporters were cheering for foreign shuttlers in the Indonesia Super League badminton championships contested in Jakarta on the weekend.
The competition, held for the first time this year, allows local clubs to enlist in the services of foreign players. While this prevents local emerging talent from competing, the crowd was kept well entertained.
Jakarta-based Tangkas dashed the hopes of city rivals Jaya Raya in the event, winning the women's team final 3-2 thanks to the efforts of Hong Kong's Wang Chen and Yip Yui Yin.
Surabaya-based Surya Naga spoiled Jaya Raya's hopes of clinching the men's team crown after defeating the club 3-2 with the help of world No. 2 Chen Hong of China, Ng Wei of Hong Kong and Singapore's Ronald Susilo.
The decision of league organizers to allow clubs to hire foreign players was an effective move, but only in terms of attracting spectators.
Development-wise, shuttlers being groomed at the national training camp in Cipayung, East Jakarta, have been demonstrating a lack of achievement on the international stage lately.
A women's mixed doubles crown won by Flandy Limpele and Vita Marissa two months ago in Singapore is the only Super League title Indonesia has been able to collect so far this year.
Indonesia's big names, including men's singles star Taufik Hidayat, mixed doubles pair Nova Widianto and Lilyana Natsir and men's doubles team Luluk Hadiyanto and Alvent Yulianto have all failed to secure medals in Super League competitions.
Taufik, who won a gold medal in the 2004 Olympics, lost his world championship crown last year. The only major event he has won this year was the Asian Badminton Championships.
Taufik's decline has not been backed up by the country's up-and-coming players, who are yet to display consistency in international competitions.
The current situation should be viewed as an early warning sign by the Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI). The association urgently needs to evaluate its entire training system, from the recruitment stage to training methods being used, in order to establish what has gone wrong.
It is also time for the PBSI to focus on the development of young players so as they can win against world-class shuttlers in international events.
Indonesia urgently needs to promote the development of talented and consistent local players to maintain its long tradition as being one of the world's badminton powerhouses.
National shuttlers face a busy schedule ahead, culminating in the World Championships to be held on Aug. 13-19 in Kuala Lumpur. Before that, they will compete in the Thailand Grand Prix, Philippines Grand Prix and China Masters.
Failing to take home a title from last year's World Championships in Madrid, PBSI can only hope Taufik is up to the task this year, or perhaps even Candra Wijaya, who will partner Tony Gunawan of the United States in the event.
Transforming existing players into champions is an enormous but urgent task for PBSI. Otherwise, we will have to prepare ourselves for a new era of badminton in Indonesia in which few titles will be won.

This is very true and we share the same predicament in the Philippines although in Indonesia, it seems that there is still more government support to the sport unlike in our country where the national (badminton) team needs to
solicit private sponsors for their personal training.
