Reiko-chan is the cutest girl in badminton... of all time! :D

As far as I know, Sigit-Fran and Meliana-Shendy will go to Osaka on behalf of PB Djarum. These new pairs need the ranking points.

I doubt Rian-Eng Hian will go there. The tournament is too small for them... and they do not need additional ranking points.

Djarum will send single player too ?
I hope Sylvinna will play in here.
Meliana paired with Shendy again  , what happen with Purwati ?
Look like Shendy Puspa was out from Pelatnas like Fran.

From what I heard, Sylvi Kurniawan, Rosaria Pungkisary, Andre Kurniawan, and Ari Yuli Wahyu are playing in the Romania Series now and the Finnish Series next week. So I doubt whether they will also go to the Osaka Challenge. The schedule might be too strenuous for them... 3 straight weeks of competition from one part of the world to another.

Shendy was Lili's partner when they were both at PB Djarum. Lili is still in Pelatnas. They were the top WD juniors in 2005; almost undefeated that year. As far as I know, Shendy never played with Meliana in tournament competition before the 2007 Bahrain Series.

Purwati? Don't know where she is... but if I were Djarum, I would pair her with Rintan Aprillia. :)

I didn't know they play in Romania & Finland and thinking Djarum plan to sent in Asia tournament.

Poor young Djarum players in Pelatnas (Bandar, Fernando/subakti & Febby angguni), didn't go anywhere exception to Junior Dutch & German Open.

Sylvinna Kurniawan lost to Tracey Hallam in the semi-final of the Banuinvest International championship 18-21, 18-21. Tracey eventually won the WS by beating Rosaria Pungkasari 21-14, 21-14. Not a bad achievement for young Sylvi.

It's good to see Djarum actively send their youngsters to European tournaments to gain some valuable experience. Shame on PBSI  No wonder Rian Sukmawan, Frans Kurniawan and now Shendy Puspa left the national team. Rian would not have climbed up to WR no 9 position if he's still in Pelatnas. Just look at Yoga/Yoke, Rendra Wijaya, and to a certain extent Hendra A.G./Joko Riyadi:cool:

This small tourney full of Japanese and Korean players even China didn't send any player here. INA only represented by Sigit/Fran (MD) and Meliana Jauhari/Shendy Puspa (WD). But there's one unknown name in MD draw from INA, Hermono Yuwono -- who is he??

sigit and fran unseeded eh, i think they'll be a strong bet for the title here.

wch should also be able to pick up some valuable ranking points if he does well, although shon seung mo might be tricky.

reiko and kumiko are japan's #3 WD pair? wow, they've really slipped down the order. ants, what happened to them?

Hermono Yuwono in ex Eng Hian's partner when junior in Djarum and Pelatnas before Eng Hian paired with Flandy Limpele.

Hermono/Eng Hian were recruited in to Pelatnas same time with Halim/Davis, they had tough rivalry in national circuit. I called this time is "peak performance" of Men's double's Indonesia. This is Ricky/Rexi's periode followed by Antonius/Denny Kantono and a lot of young players : Chandra Wijaya/Ade Sutisna, Tony Gunawan/Rudy Wijaya, Seng Kok Kiong, Victo Wibowo, Cun Cun, Ade Lukas, Sigit Budiarto, Kwee Tek Ming etc. It was very hard to be INA MD's elite player in this time.
After Eng Hian was paired with Flandy Limpele who left mixed double, Hermono get out from Pelatnas and went to Japan as sparring partner.

A bit too early to write his whole career off. Maybe he needs to switch camp to Misbun as well.

that was possibly a bit harsh, but he'll have to really improve a lot to get back up to where he was before the injury. time is also not on his side. though he's lucky in the sense that the MAS MS pool is not very strong, so he'll definitely be in the team for some time yet.

Who is this Park Tae Sang?!? He defeated Wong Choong Hann [seeded 4] and Lee Cheol Ho [seeded 5/8] on the way to the semifinals... Is this particular 'Park' a new rising star?

I don't think Park TS is Korean new rising-star. He's coming from same generation with Lee Hyun-il, born in 1979 and one of KOR's representative at Athens OG/04. He beat BCL to enter QF but stopped by Sony in this round. Probably he join KOR national-team after Lee HI 'disappeared'?!
