I think the best way to voice any complaint is to complain direct to Clear One.
try not to swear in your posts either.
It might have been her first day, or someone was distracting her maybe.

You are overreacting. Re-read what you posted.
If I answered your questions and you said, "okay thanks bye!" to me on the phone, I would hang up too.
Think about it, if someone says "bye" to you on the phone, what do you do? You hang up. :p
And cry me a river about not saying "hello" or identifying herself. USA for Africa, Band Aid, PETA, Save the Trees, Whales, Pandas and purple hippos and all that good stuff. :D ...:p

That kind of customer service nowadays is unacceptable, especially now, where there are so many places to play in that area, but I guess they don't really care because they know people will still pay to play/train there no matter how bad their service is.
SmashingBird - if you are not happy with service, I suggest you dropping in somewhere else where they would appriciate your 6 or 7 bucks.
That goes for anywhere else with bad service. We, as consumers are paying YOU your salaries, we don't want to feel like you are doing us a favor by taking our money.
The receptionist should be more professional, she gives the first impression of the organization to the customers. If I was calling for the first time and got that conversation, that would would have been my last time calling, ever.
The only way to make management realize customer service is important to their organization is when there is a decrease in people playing/training = decrease in $$$$$. Maybe then, they'll start enrolling their staff in some telephone manners courses.

lol... if u noticed, u just complained about a worker. it can be turned around and the worker complaining on you. itz prolly one of her bad days... let it go... lol. we all have our days. if the worker is that bad, she prolly wouldn't have been hired unless there's ultimately no one who wants that job. now on the other note, customers can be rude too and u deal with sooo many customers a day that a few rude ones can just ruin the mood and make u rude back to customers until more cheerful and nice customers come along to change ur mood back =P hahaha... i'm err... saying too much blabbing now =P

I haven't been to Clearone badminton centre since 1.5 years ago summer training and then cleartwo was established, ever since then haven't been to Clearone.
I coach at yumo, therefore i play for free during drop ins. But i still get training from other clubs and i still pay to go community centres to play with some friends and i still visit places like richmond pro and cleartwo drop ins.
What i am trying to say is, I have a choice to not pay and just play at yumo all the time, but i am a supporter for all badminton centres(including community centres) so i pay to play in diff places.
After all these times, last monday i went to play drop in. I haven't been there for so long,i thought that drop in at C1 was still 9am-12 pm,then second session 12pm- 3 pm
OK HERE GOES (EXACT QUOTES)
So i arrive there with my girlfriend at 11:45am and the reception was this old chinese auntie lady
Hugh: Hi howz it going, paying for two..do you mind if we pay now and get on court early , drop in is from 12 to 3 right? (Keep in mind i thought the session i am paying for is 12 pm-3pm)
Lady: pay for two? 12 the 1
* yes that's right,she said "12 the 1"*
(i obviously knew she meant 12 to 1..so)
Hugh: Huh 12 to 1 only?? how much
Lady: (Chinese honger style accent)3 dollars, LOOK AT THE SIGN
*she points at the board*
Hugh: Oh..i thought is til 3 pm..
Lady: NO, 1 the 5 next
Hugh: oh..ok..ok fine..for two then...i guess
Hugh's gf: Are u sure..one hr..
Hugh: well we're already here..and my other frd is here too...is ok..let's just play
Lady: Do you have court shoes!
Hugh: *STUNNED*(FULL BADMINTON OUTFIT)
yah don't worry..we have badminton shoes
Lady: BADMINTON shoes? OK

Alrite folks, After that,i was still not mad becoz
1) Not her fault i didn't know
2) is the rules, and is business, she can't like hook us up and tell us pay only 1 dollar for an hr,i understand that
BUT..just to let u guys know,i work part time selling electronics (pcs, laptops, printers etc)..that wuz shitty customer service becoz she could at least offered a SOLUTION to satisfy customers
ie. "Sorry this drop in ends in an hr, but you should consider playing 1pm - 5 pm instead, it would make your money worth instead of paying 6 dollars to play one hr" etc
After she says that, at least it seem like she cares
(yes i know she DID tell me 1 pm -5,but could have said it better)

Inspite of this, keep in mind,i wuzn't that mad,i still enjoyed that one hr

u DID say she was an OLD CHINESE lady. she prolly isn't fluent in english and dun want to say too much. u want that OLD CHINESE lady to get friendly, start saying she looks beautiful ;) hahaha... saying that
I work at a badminton place too. I HATE customers staying after closing time especially if itz 11pm at night. they take about 15-30 minutes to get out and i have to clean the whole gym up after. instead of leave around 11:30, i end up leaving around 11:45 to midnight. that's first complaint i have typically only on busy nights.
my 2nd complain... the place does not have a shower, STOP USING THE SINK AS A SHOWER and make the whole counter wet as well as the floor. can you say customer courtesy? i have to smile and pick up ur trash, clean ur spilled gatorade on the court and now clean up the big mess u make in the bathroom. i can understand if u have diarhea and make toilet bowl dirty... but making the sink like a shower is *WOW* as u said earlier about customer service.
my last complain, i smile at ppl and i tried to get things done sequentially meaning first come first served. and then i get this few customers that think they are regulars and i should be faster and attend to them first or something and they give me attitude... O_O;;; i'm pretty sure the customers in front of them wants to bite their head off too not just me for being rude. that sets my mood off too... at least until i rant it off to my coworker or let my steam off for like a good 10 minutes or something then my smiley face comes back. there... the worker's POV.
oh last thing, a lot of times i get customers that says thanks, bye and just hangs up without me having a chance to say anything back and sometimes when they don't hang up, i sorta just freeze and wonder if i should say anything cuz they are typically on cellphone and u wonder if they're even listening anymore... (i think 25-35% of the time, the stop listening, but they just don't hang up) so yeah...

In my own personal subjective experience, you are quite correct in saying that that type of customer service is very common in Asia. Where I used to live in Asia, it's almost the norm, actually.
I find that that type of customer service has started to show up more and more in Richmond, due probably to the large immigrant Asian population.
Thankfully, as other members here have noted, there are exceptions, and we're not in danger of that level of customer service becoming the accepted norm.

It's gotta be the Asian way of customer service or rather the chinese way.

well, service is is obviously bummed out, but maybe its because we have like a 3% percent unemplyment rate? ( the 3% is prob retards that cant work) and when ur working for min wage and ur sure to be able to grab another job like tic tac to i wouldnt do a nice job either watching kids sulk and spill stuff for me to clean up ;)
Well, that is bad if its a receptionist. A receptionist should know what to do.

lol... a "receptionist" does a lot of other stuff like I said, they are salesperson, cleaning person, customer service person, road maps for those that do not know how to get there, people that takes attitude from customers due to competition for court (apparently they do not know how to grab what they should rightfully be entitled to and they come complaining), the stringer, the cashier, the "security" staff (in case of emergency), your first aid person in case of a mild injury... can't help if itz major but can help you get ambulance, etc and all these at a minimum wage (very close to minimum anyway).
btw...let me remind you she's "OLD CHINESE LADY". you want her to keep up with you? har har... plus maybe once she sees you more often, then she'll be more friendly? old lady prolly gumbling about how much trouble customers give her. they spill stuff she has to clean up, they break string, she has to use her already poor english to help them, etc... sometimes, it is better to relax and smile and let time sink in... maybe that'll help. i know some customers who were somewhat rude when i first saw them. after seeing them a few more times... things start warming up a bit. know them better, they smile more when you remember them... itz a relationship to be built upon. that said...there's still some rude customers that remain rude no matter how many times they come... ITZ A CULT I TELL YOU O_O har har... relax =)

i cant belive i'm posting about clearone again...and I have support and criticism this time.
See...some people that work at these badminton facilities aren't involved with badminton at all, they just want to make a few extra bucks after immigration or whatever it is that they just came from. That's probably the explanation for missing the dead obvious when they ask a person in full badminton form if they have shoes. It bugs me too when they look at you and you're fully dressed to play and then they don't bother to think for a split second that your shoes would be badminton-fit too. Esp. if you're dressed in complete yonex or forza.
The next thing is about the 'business' of the employees. I don't see how it could be a 'bad' day because all they ever do is sit and watch TV. In between that time they're disrespectfully working the counter. Everytime I walk into clearone, the lady gives me this glare while I'm paying. And if she talks, it's not a very welcoming voice either. CLEARLY she doesn't want to be there, but in the society we live in, how can we not have money "-_-. And the job looks easy on paper right? Just sit there for hours and get paid. Apparently they think no attitude is required. But the point is, an employee is a direct reflection on the company. If they can't treat the customer with the type of courtesy, it tells us that company doesn't care enough to hire employees that care for the company they're working at; and that they will just randomly hire anyone that needs a job. I think "Clear" is great. But they should really take more care for the old facility and not leave it to rot at the hands of bad counter service because they have C2 now.

dressing in complete yonex or forza doesn't say anything :p i can dress in complete rsl and play with scandals  (and i have met ppl who come completely dressed and forget their badminton shoes more than once). har har :D
i hope ur not talking about all employees because i do have a day job. working at badminton gym is just my part time job. i do it because i like badminton. and yes it does seem like i do nothing at times but then when we do stuff, you might not be around to see it (this is in defense of some of the employees who do actual work) like you said, it is work, we do get break time. even when we are on break and not behind the desk we would get asked questions which i would gladly answer and help unless you start lashing out about some court space business the moment you see me then i'd be a little less happy to help.
you are right about the employee being the face of the company. i do agree with that. however not everyone wants to work at a badminton facility (typically paid minimum wage and you do typically need to be of age with a clean background because of the handling of money and expensive equipment). and if no one applies cept for that lady what are they gonna do? not hire anyone and close down C1 (in ur case, i'm not there and i don't work there and i don't even know where that is) :p
i guess i'm a simple guy. if i can get a place to play baddy at, and customer service isn't unbearable, everything is great cuz cept when i check in.. i'll probably won't deal with the counter lady or guy unless i spill some food or drink on the court in which case i hope i don't get banned from the place because there's typically a no food/drink on the courts rule. :p
but that's my view and i'm just trying to show a side of the employees (not typical to all employees but there are quite a few out there who work there just cuz they like badminton not because they can't find any other job. they probably have day jobs too and they do have bad day even tho they seem like they're doing nothing they could really be tired from working more than 12 hrs a day.)

Well, goodness... I've stumbled on this little thread and let the management know. Apparently they may have already warned this receptionist once already and they will speak to her again. The management does agree that customer service is a priority, but in the future, maybe you could send in a complaint to ClearTWO, as the management is primarily stationed there. They had no idea until I told them. So maybe if you wanted changes, you can submit your complaint to ClearTwo instead of ranting away on this forum next time? It is our duty to keep customers happy and if things are wrong, we'd like to know. However, it is not our responsibility to check this forum.
Thank you, everybody, for your input.

this is a touchy subject but bringing it out into the open should expedite resolution that benefit both customers and proprietor. Although it may look bad having a dirty laundry exposed in a public forum but this is really benefited the owner more since corrective action can be taken before his business run aground.
for some immigrants from china, their old way is very weird to the western culture since in communist china, those old attitudes are norm. When the owner is the gov't, the employee act like the gov't, like they own the place and customers are the servants. That is why u would see attitude difference between HK and china in term of customer service. The customer service model is japan, where they have the owner to customer/shareholder relationship opposite to china. I believe china has a program now to spiff up their image in preparation for the 2008 OG.

haha.. I really like the story.. Short and effective (german style :-) ) ...
Everytime in US.. I get puzzled by all "uneccessary" politeness frazes that Americans just say, not because they really mean it, but because it is polite :-)
Like when you go to a store and you always get the "Hello Sir, How are you today", Which for me as a swede always is tricky to figure out what the correct "polite" response is to... what is the right answer anyway?? i am pretty sure the shop-women/men don't want to know all about my hangover :-)
My collegue always answers "fat, Pink and happy" to that question.. But I'm not fat.. maybe pink though.. so I don't know what to say :-)
Cheers mates,
