Anyone who reads chinese, I guarantee you'll get mad after reading this article:
http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/65688

I'm not sure if there's any similar article in english. Anyone volunteer to translate?

I just hope those selfish and square heads will juz leave them alone. Give them more time to focus on their training instead of attending silly functions which got nothing to do with badminton.

Ya...The Malaysia government should think seriously about this if they want KKK/TBH continue to bring glory to Mas.They are player and not the artist or star, they should not be force to attend all kinds of function.I really hope that the BAM will take some action because they are really talented and we Malaysian do not want to lose them. Finally, hope them will learn something in this ABC and know that if you wanna win, you must train hard.

Ok, the article in Malaysiakini and the attached short news talked about KKK/TBH being invited by political party to community activities just before some local election. This caused the opposition party accusing the other party in using the national sporting heroes for pulling in votes and thus politicalised (?) the sporting scene.

Whether the articles are true or not, for the benefits for everybody, these sportsmen should be left alone to do what they do best, i.e. sports!

When I read the news at the newspaper of KKK-TBH at the Machap by-election, and they were said to be with the Deputy Sports Minister, I knew it was the Deputy Sports Minister who invited them. You see, this Liow Tiong Lai is also the Youth Head, MCA party. So, of course use (or should i say "misuse") the hotshots to garner in the votes -lar! Yes, I am disappointed at the distraction. They thought using them can make the young generation vote more for BN.

I think the BAM is not handling this very well and eating their words.I thought the BAM already make it very cleared that KKK-TBH are not allow to attend anymore functions once they resume in training??

To make this worst, this so-called "to promote badminton sports" in Machap was scheduled on that day itself when the 4 players(included CTF-LWW) was heading to JB prior to the ABC! What does this tell us??

Come on,just give them a break! They are the sportsmen who only want to focus in badminton and not suppose to get involved in those irrelevant silly things! Those selfish people out there, pls leave them alone and don't spoil them!

Good to hear that they are drawing lots of attention. This is something any champion has to deal with and it actually helps to promote badminton in Malaysia, especially among the youths.

I hope they handle the change better than LCW and not turning away from it.

I am not against promoting badminton, but he should not organise it during the campaining of Machap by-election and two days before the ACC. Moreover, it came after the head coach, Yap Kim Hock wanted all functions to stop for the benefits of the players. I feel sorry for these young boys who have no choice but to follow orders.

try to look at Taufik and ChenH, been resting for quite some time yet still can produce such a good display in ABC; although they claimed they were not in top form. pardon me coz i gonna say this that i absolutely sick of their (Mal players) lame excuses why their are not in top form.

The past two years for LCW can be best described as progressive, but not a career prime time as a professional badminton player. He was getting close but never at the same level as LD, TH, and PG. I was deluded myself when he captured MO2005/2006 consercutively and I overly rated what he was able to deliver back then.

Though I am a Msian, I couldnt agree more with U. In the competitive world, esp sports, it's result-oriented and driven. Excuses and excuses just make the person looks like a fool.

However, we shouldnt doubt LCW's ability to conquer the world of Badminton, but I think the loss over his coach (Li Mao) has affected his games.

Humans are all different, each react differently to circumstances, therefore LCW game breakdown, I agree with you that LM departure affected his composure and his game, and the departure occured so suddenly with LCW having no advance knowledge of, in fact BAM was caught with her pants down...hahaha! With the fans jumping off the band wagon, and bashing him, if I am him, what the heck, I call it quits, adios, dadada! see you later!...hahahaha (just joking)....:p :p :p

Advisable to keep Kien Keat-Boon Heong in check (http://www.nst.com.my/Current_News/NST/Section/index_html?mysec=Sport)

(http://www.nst.com.my/Current_News/NST/Section/index_html?mysec=Sport) WHEN, en route to a Asian-level tournament, athletes stop over to lend support to a political campaign, then we know for sure that we are aiding and abetting big-headedness. This is what happened to rising men’s doubles Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong prior to last week’s Asian Badminton Championships in Johor Baru, as they, along with a couple of officials, dropped by Machap which was preparing for a by-election.

While it is understandable that everybody wants a piece of the pair, we have to remember that they have to be nurtured carefully for, as harsh as it may sound, they haven’t won anything yet.

Yes, the Asian Games gold in Doha ended a long wait while winning three out of five tournaments they have played in this year is a great achievement but these are tournaments which other Malaysians shuttlers have won before, and on countless occasions at that.

What we want to see Kien Keat-Boon Heong winning are the World Championships and Olympics, which Malaysians have never won before.
While doubles coach Rexy Mainaky didn’t mince words in his rebuke of Kien Keat for his showboating antics in Johor Baru, he also made a plea that the invitations for the pair to grace one function after another, should stop.

Rexy was a winner as a player and he should know what he is talking about.

It is a fact that Malaysians are quite easily satisfied when it comes to the sporting arena hence the adulation that Kien Keat-Boon Heong have been enjoying since returning from the Swiss Open.

But, as Rexy said, the road to the World Championships and Olympics is one steeped in challenges and the pair have to remain level-headed if they want to emulate what their coach did, win both.

What Rexy needs is for the pair to improve further their strength and he also knows that the world’s other top pairs would have been doing their homework to stop Kien Keat-Boon Heong from ruling men’s doubles.

It is lucky for the pair that defeat came in the Asian Championships, a low-key tournament lacking the rest of Asia’s top pairs and they don’t have to look very far to find out how easy it is to get into a rut.

Singles players Lee Chong Wei and Hafiz Hashim are in that rut now and one wonders what Misbun Sidek can do to revive the careers of both his charges.

Also, the BA of Malaysia deserves a rap on the knuckles for allowing Kien Keat-Boon Heong to get involved in too many extra-curricular activities.

As a responsible association, BAM has a duty to protect its players especially as it knows that Malaysia will head into the Beijing Olympics with badminton as the only realistic medal hope.

BAM has no reason to bow to pressure and the players should only be allowed to attend functions which don’t affect their training and not make them swollen-headed.

Kien Keat-Boon Heong are a rare find and they must be nurtured to excel at higher stages, not allowed to be easily satisfied.

Sorry if anyone actually believes that the Malaysian politicians will behave responsibly. Makes me mad but BAM cannot do anything about it because they are (or were) run by the politicians from the same group (National Front/Barisan Nasional).

I hope the people don't vote for them just because they brought them there to try to garner more votes. This will teach them not to bring any more sportsmen/women in the future because it will have a negative effect on their campaign. However, I don't put much hope in that happening. :(

No, we don't believe that...that is why politicians are among the least respected professions in the world...hahaha!:p :p :p
