As far as I know, there never been any team events held in Olympics. In Asian Games and even South East Asian (SEA) Games, team events is being held.

Maybe Beijing should make a change and make it an on going event in future Olympics because I do not think that other hosts will put much attention on BADMINTON for now as it is not that popular sport among countries especially USA.

I also enjoy watching team event. I think is more excited compared to individual event especially when the team score is near. It also show the co-operation and support given by each member of th team. Hopefully there will be a team event in Olympic for badminton in the future other than the Thomas/Uber Cup. Asian game still not enough because Denmark is not in.

It is not for the organiser to decide the events. The IOC has all the say. As it is, badminton is lucky that the mixed doubles event is not dropped. It has been dropped for other sports like table tennis and tennis.

my fav team is not DEN. but if less one great team means we watch less quality match. With more great teams in an event, it is more prestige and we get to watch more interesting and exciting match. Anyway if there is team event in Olympic, it would be more prestige than the Thomas/Uber Cup becaouse it is held 4 years once. The winner gains more fame compared to winning other championships. So, hopefully in the future the organiser would consider about a team event in Olympic.

malaysia is not strong enough in team events.If hafiz do well,chongwei will dissapointed us.If ctf-lww do well,chongming-.....(forgot his name) will dissapointed us .It always bad luck 4 malaysia..except in last sea games.we won gold.Hope hafiz,chongwei,benghong etc prove something next time.

SEA Games 2005 gold was won by Hafiz, 2nd doubles and 3rd singles... Chong wei lost to taufik in 1st singles.. first doubles lost as well!!!

There's absolutely no team events in Olympics for badminton.

There's change for another racquet-sport, table tennis in upcoming Beijing Games 2008. Table Tennis will provide 4 golds in 2 categories :

1. Singles : Men's Singles and Women's Singles
2. Team : Men's Team and Women's Team

IOC has replaced two previous disciplines (Men's Doubles and Women's Doubles) by team events.
