Hi there ! i'm new to this forum...i was just wondering if Pro Ace racquets are good to play with? I heard Pro Ace uses the some of the same material to build their racquests as NASA! Any opinions on these rackets?

I think this particular NASA is not the one that most of us are familiar with... ;)
that's very fishy marketing technique. i am sure NASA also use materials like Aluminum and plastic. so can all window frame maker and plastic bottle makers claims that they are using NASA material??

Yup, but they use special "STRAFIL PREPREG" graphite material, which is used for missile !!

I have a Pro Ace widebody with Yang Yang signature name on it. Got it about 7yrs ago. Frame is quite stiff. Not bad but nothing special. It has a crack on it already, close to the joint and that didn't take long. Perhaps they make better racquet now?

ProAce, like all other racquet manufacturer produce a number of different models for different market segments. There are a number of plants the make them, as well, they also outsource for lower end models. The ones they make themselves will have better quality control (their Taiwan plant), however be wary of the cheaper models which are made in China plants. The material used to produce the cheaper models are of lower quality.
My wife and I both use the WB28. I managed to get a good deal on a dozen several years back and have been using them since. For the money, it is a very good racquet, although there is nothing special about. I am now down to 4 left and will soon have to look for something else to take it's place. Some of them broken during tournaments, other just retired due to material fatigue.
I would probably buy another ProAce, unfortunately there are no dealers here where I am. I do have my eyes out for the Ti10. But the cost means I have to stick to only one or two at the most.

I used to own a lot of Pro-Ace racquets before buying any other brand such Widebody-55, Titanium-6, Titanium-7.... These racquets broke due to my heavy usage and high tension of stringing... This year I just bought Thunderbolt... To me Pro-Ace is a budget racquet brand (compared to the price of Yonex's racquet) which offers good quality racquets with performance enhancements....:)

proace/apacs rackets are value for money. only when you try it( say their armorted700 clone thunderblot II) w armortec 700 yonex, then you can feel the difference in hte vibration when you hit it.
wo side by side comparison, they feel just as good...i think

Hi to ProAce racquet users. I have my eyes on these following racquets:
Quick Killer series - LCP600
Thunderbolt series - II & S
ABS-Power series - 880, 200 & 100, 1000
Direct Feeling series - Evolution 900 & 850
My skill is between beginner (high end) & (low end) intermediate. I am more of a defensive and stroke player because I do not have a power smash like most player. So, I am focusing on defensive tactics. I would like to build my offensive skill if I can one day.
I am currrently using ProAce Ti11 as my main and my backup is ProAce Thunderbolt L (Lighting). I would like to get few more ProAce racquets while I still can...
Does anyone currently own those racquets I listed above and how do you like it so far? How much do they cost roughly? Where can I buy them in Malaysia (around KL if possible), Singapore or Indonesia (around Jakarta)?
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Practicer,
I have the Evolution 900 and had the Thunderbolt 2. Both racquets were given to me as a gift. I sold the Thunderbolt 2 because it was too head heavy for me and I found the vibration disturbing. The tension of the strings for the tb2 may have been too high for me. If you are a defensive player then I would not recommmend this racquet because it is very head heavy.
Meanwhile the Evolution 900, unique design but I found that I could not generate much power with the racquet. A friend tested it as well, and he agreed with me. I found the shaft too soft / or the racquet too light or maybe it is even balance?? I am not sure. Bear in mind this was a gift so i do not have any specs of the racquet. I just restrung it with Yonex BG85 at 25/24 (whatever that means :)). Played better but still not very impressed. The strokes are very quick but lacking in power. If you are a defensive player, maybe this would be better choice.
So...I am back with my ProAce WB28 until I get back to Malaysia for my new racquets, fingers crossed I can find something similar to WB28.
Just my two cents. Good luck and Happy Shopping!!!

I m also have TB III but its so sad when it cannot suit me. Even it s a ultralight weight but i feel the head is too heavy. With 24 lbs BG 66 cause my wrist hurt n pain. The colour scheme (grey) is also look too simple and ugly for the mid/high price racket. So i just keep it on my bag for my personal collection only.

Nice looks but the holes are quite big and durability is a big issue. Otherwise nothing special about the racquet IMHO. How much is it retailing at anyway?

Edg3 and wakloo,
I have both Ti Dream and Thunderbolt III. I used to have Ti 9 which was a workhorse.
Ti Dream is 5u, super light. too light i'd say. but it's a quality racket. the price never dropped over the last 6 or 7 years since it was released. $130 here in singapore. i guess that tells something.
Thunderbolt III is FANTASTIC (well, to me it is. mine is 3u) If you think the gray colour doesn't stand out, I agree with you that it doesn't. Aren't snippers all in camelfludge? Why do u want it stand out? I'd rather see people pay no attention to my racket. the less they get on me, the more i get on them. haha.

how do you feel the TB smash ? is it great??

07-10-2007, 04:35 AM
I was using a Carbonex 8 with limited string tension, so the TB smash make a lot different. In fact, in the few game I kept missing shot or hitting the shuttle too far or too wide because it is much lighter ( U vs 3U ). After getting used to it, it feel great.... value for money.....

I would like to ask a few questions. I am currently planning to buy Proace Thunderbolt 2. However, I think this racquet has been around for 4 or more years.
1. Is it still considered a good racquet nowadays?
2. The price is RM 168 inclusive of a small bag, a grip and string ( not yonex string though)
3. Are there any racquets that I should consider? (head heavy and price is less than RM 200)

please don't take offense to this, i for one kno proace can make good racquet since some of my friends own proace racquets. But do any of you think the website( http://www.proace.com.tw/badminton/badminton.htm) looks like a bit of a joke? presentation wise, it looks like i could've made(which isn't saying very much) and to quote: "Owing to ineffective innovation in technology and materials, "YONEX" is unable to develop rackets of HIGH-BEAM series" that's a bit um, informal/silly. i dunno, i thought it was a bit of a laugh.

now i'm a sotx woven 7/11 person. i've tried the am1000 and it's not that bad! but i prefer me woven 11 :) :)

I've got to agree, their site is 'silly':
'Now, you may cut the strings and repeat stringing again. This time, please use 31lbs string tension (the highest standard). The result will come to that almost 99% graphite badminton rackets are all deformed or cracked. But still, any of PRO ACE Rackets remains unbroken and harmed nowhere.'
That would also depend on the stringer's skill too. And to make their sayings more trustworthy, the site must first be of better quality, and they should show pictures to try to prove how their frames are tougher than other brands. Asking people to break their racquets and waste money on stringing, that's a big NO NO.
