Men's singles: Rudy Hartono because he won All England 7 consecutive times (8 times of overall) and the World Championhips at 31 and Zhao Jian Hua because of his deceptive strokes and court craft.

Woman's singles: Camilla Martin because she withstood the invincible Chinese domination (plus she is the cutest player ever) and Mia Audina because she beat me in 3 sets when she was 9 years old and I was 19 plus she repressented Indonesia at 14 and won Olympic silver at 16.

Men's double: Tjun Tjun/Johan Wahyudi because they won All England 6 times and Tony Gunawan/partner because he can play with almost anyone to win major titles (Olympic, All England, World Championships etc).

Women's double: No favourites because the Chinese dominates this event and I rarely follow this because it's becoming boring.

Mixed doubles: Gail Emms and Nathan Robertson because they have won All England and the World Champiosnships and they are English. I hope they win Olympic gold in Beijing 2008 to complete the trifecta.

My top 3 are:
- Mia Audina Tjiptawan - because she is a genius player and a joy to watch. She puts the shuttle in terribly awkward places, using strokes that are hard to execute in the first place and, secondly the foresight to create a gap and put it there.

Most people might feel that the gold medal was always going to be Zhang Ning's the way Mia left the last point of the 2nd set. Watch the footage objectively and up to 5/5 in the third set I doubt Zhang Ning would have felt sure she had it in the bag. Any unfocused shots were punished by Mia and vice versa. Zhang Ning was in top form and she had to win that match off Mia which is what makes it a legendary match.

- Ra Kyung Min - because she can execute whatever shot she wants from anywhere on court. It's nice feeling to have all the options. She too can see gaps on court that I can't.

- Yao Fen. She was my first favourite player because she was on one of the first videos I ever watched and I tried emulating her repetoire. She's an AE winner.

Others:
- Love the indonesian singles backhand of Taufik and Fung Permadi.
- in-form Zhao Jianhua. He is both a champion player and a champion person who always hands the shuttle to the shuttle umpire
- Gong Zhichao, for her light and efficient court coverage

The reason is simple ... we came from the same peaceful hometown of Muar (45km south from Malacca). I still remember the two gallant matches where he shaved his head (SEA Games '95 MD final and OG'96 MD final [+ Soon Kit], both playing against his present subordinate, Rexy [+ Ricky]) - something that KKK vowed to do so but didn't go that far ...

i vote lin dan for his determination towards this game. bao chunlai for his never ends passion for the game.. both are very hardworking players. pi hongyan, zhang ning is in the list for the women's single.(two very outstanding players) zhang jiewen and yang wei has the best partnership.. good partner on court and good friends off court. love them! last but not least, the dynamic malaysian pair Koo kien keat and tan boon heong. They have it all but attitude and the two players relationship might affect them in games. i still put cai yun and fu haifeng as my best team in the men's double. fantastic smashes frm haifeng and cai yun's solid defence.(great to watch)

Do u know that alot of chinese badminton enthusiats don't really like LD,despite of his personal attitude ,n his mentally inconsistent in the matches.He's good in badminton..i mean,he's born with badminton.Haha..but too bad else than his skills in badminton,not many of ppl likes him as a person here.There's one time where there was an auction..a picture of LD with his signature.The seller put a 800rmb as an opening price.That's about 115USD.N all the ppl were like "what?"..LD's signature is worth that much?N there was some speculations that this pic will be impossible to be sold.Some ppl answered,even if the seller offer it at 15USD,it's still hard to sell it. Some ppl even answered that even if the seller give it for free,he doesn't even want it.LOL..what's more tragic is that happends around the chinese badminton enthusiasts.Looks like they don't like their own hero.:o
