Hi all,
Welcome to session #3 of the CCC League games. The games will be played on the second Sunday session of CCC: 27th May 2007.

The Play

Player participation is requested from section 1 players to form two teams of four players each. No handicap will be applied to any of the scores so each game is a straightforward race from 0 to 21 aces with no setting.

Team Scoring

One team point will be accrued for each game won. At the end of the night the aces scored for each team will be summed, the team with the higher number of aces will be awarded one additional team point for every 20 aces difference.

So what are you waiting for?

To register your interest please add your name to the list posted below.

Hi DoublesPlease,

A small correction to your post...

(1) Player Handicap Rankings will be taken from the penultimate of our Friday Session as at the End of Friday 11-May-2007.

This is because... on Friday 18-May-2007, our venue@Waverley is not available for us.

And, because of our big 200+ participants, the Results as at the End of Friday 25-May-2007 Session will not be available by Sunday 27-May-2007.

Greetings,

At our meeting last night, Wednesday 9-May-2007, at Suppertime@CCC, I made a comment that I was concerned that we could only get a poor participation number of players from our Section 1 players for this League Games Trial #3.
This is only based on the response thus far, as seen from the replies in this thread.

And I have spoken to DoublesPlease regarding this concern of mine.

As at today, Thursday 10-May-2007, the Handicaps for our 47 members@ccc are;
(Handicaps for our 200+ CCC Casual Visitors are recorded, but not listed here)

Section 1

Many members who have not participated in our CCC Handicapped Games (played only on Friday nights) are initially awarded with Handicaps at 0.

So...... we will play our CCC Handicapped Games in our next 3 Social Sessions;
on 11-May-2007 Friday,
on 16-May-2007 Wednesday, and
on 20-May-2007 Sunday,
therefore allowing players to check if they can qualify into Section 1.

But, I would like to remind everyone@ccc......
CCC Badminton believes that 'Participation is the key to the enjoyment of Badminton, not the winning or losing'. :):):)

This post answers DoublesPlease's question: "Who are the members@CCC in Section 1 ?":confused::confused:

BTW, to answer kong-19's question... I am quite sure that Hagane can qualify easily into Section 1. :):):)

I would like to think there's enough enthusiasm out there that we can get 8 players together on a Sunday night. To broaden the appeal I'll expand the range of player handicaps from -8 to 0 for these games.

Add your name to the list if you're interested in playing.

I believe there are many players in Section 1 (plus Wild Card for Hagane) that are interested in joining the League game.
The problem is that many is not reading the thread.
I'll go around and ask them on Wed, 16-May.

Seriously, many members from section 3 miss the friendly against highvale so i think they would be interested in a trial league just for section 3.

Well if all systems are go, this is what i need
- discuss structure of the trial match (if section 3 were playing amogst section 3, i think dividing people in teams is good)
- section 3 members email + phone no (chris, i need to talk to you regarding this matter)
- i need people start talking about this

With me absent on next wednesday, i only have next friday to ask. In all, i need everybody's help to organise this!

And we hope that other players from Section 3 are as keen as you to participate in this CCC League Games Trial #4.

BK+DP:

Regarding how hard to organise, I feel you guys. Let me know when section 3 could be involved so i can PM people.

The following is written in sheer passion of the trial league and if i write just like i talk with no sense, please bear with me

I can see that both DP and me are organizing our own league and i wonder for future leagues, can we take into the consideration to

- have set date of the trial league (say first sunday)

- have format of x amount of players from certain section
a) hence less players needed to be commited to a particular nite. cos i can see that everytime we are stressed of not enough players and if we have to do that again and again, it's just not easy.

CCC Badminton believes that 'Participation is the key to the enjoyment of Badminton, not the winning or losing'.

b) I love to participate but i don't have chance in hell joining section 2 let alone the coveted "section 1" tag.

c) With captains, work of organizing could be delegated and people won't have to ask the same question again and again like "can i be involved", "when is it on?"

- play singles and use the availabilty of sunday
a) depends whether people like singles though ....

If only we could stop everybody like Chris and make a speech all the time regarding to the trial league ..... Hang on, maybe we could do that!

I would love to print posts from the discussion forum and get people to read them. Then again, the ones who want to know about that would have already know in the forum. rite?

Let's get poeple talking about trial league as much as possible. Have a "trial league awareness" day!

Hi hkhung,

Let us not have our discussions for CCC League Games for Section 3 players in this thread.

This thread is for Section 1 players.

I believe that our Section 1 players could get confused and/or become jumbled and muddled, if we talk about our Section 3 players' League Games here in this thread.

Is "Odies" purposely being misspelt?

Hi hkhung,

Hehehe... The teams will be fighting like cat and dog !!! :):):)

You might not know this...

Garfield is a cat and Odie is a dog.

Garfield is a fictional character (and the principal character) in the Jim Davis comic strip Garfield. He is a lazy, overweight, orange, anthropomorphic, tabby cat (with bare feet) who enjoys eating, sleeping, stealing (especially donuts), and tormenting Odie by kicking him off the table. He hates Mondays because he suffers bad luck on those days and considers himself to be more intelligent than humans, dogs, or animals. He also enjoys entertaining (or annoying) an unseen neighboring audience on top of a fence in the middle of the night (and gets bombarded by various objects by the agitated audience for it). He hates spiders, and often swats them with a rolled up newspaper (or whatever may be close to paw). One of his talents is walking on ceilings, which he says it's because of his sharp claws.

Garfield started walking on his hind feet from time to time due to being too fat to walk on four legs. By the middle of 1983, Garfield was walking on two feet.

Odie is a lovable but intellectually challenged yellow-furred, brown-eared dog (another Jim Davis' creation) constantly panting and drooling with his very large tongue he is rarely seen without. Odie was purchased from the same pet shop Garfield was purchased. Recently, Odie seems to be walking on two feet more often.

For more details about Garfield and Odie, please visit this link located at:

Greetings everyone@ccc,

Thank you to BK168 for checking for us@ccc... where the next Thomas Cup will be held.

So... it will be in Jakarta, Indonesia. Congratulations to Indonesia !!! :):):)

At our suppertime@ccc, we were so overwhelmed with the attendance of our special guest, Cheung, our Badminton Central moderator from Hong Kong, that we have forgotten to thank DoublesPlease for the time and effort that he has put into organising our CCC Leagues Games Trial #3.

So... A VERY BIG THANK YOU to DoublesPlease !!! :):):)

But when I was driving Cheung from his hotel to our CCC Badminton, he mentioned that the way how we are organising our Queuing System for our CCC Social Games is slightly different from how they are doing it in the UK, the PEG SYSTEM.

I was meant to ask Cheung to explain it to us all, at our Suppertime@CCC, but I have forgotten to ask him so. :o:o:o

So... if Cheung is reading this post, we hope that you would explain it to us, via our Badminton Central Discussion Forums, via this thread.

Hi Hagane,

Not to worry......

As we mentioned last night, it was only the 3rd time we that we were introducing helmut's system, the Label System, to more players@ccc.

We did not expect it to be performed correctly, 100%.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

====== * ======

Hi everyone@ccc,

For our next session, on Wednesday 30-May-2007, helmut and chris@ccc will be away, involved in our CATS.

Our players who have not seen/used this system, will now learn the Label System from Hagane and others who have tried/used it.

====== * ======

Last but not least...... We wish to thank helmut for his time and effort to introduce his Label System.

So...... A VERY BIG THANK YOU to helmut !!! :):):)

But credits should also be given to the following who gave suggestions that initiated this system:
1. HandsFull - wanting to try ad hoc Doubles partnership during our sessions
2. BadFever - wanting to have an organised Games Schedule (for players awaiting to play)
3. Siva-S - wanting to play Singles Games (1-on-1 and/or 2-on-1)
4. DoublesPlease - wanting to reduce work for chris@ccc administrating the older system
5. helmut - wanting to reduce overcrowding around our Magnetic and Score Boards

Finally... we want to thank everyone@ccc who have the patience for us to develop this newer system (as required/suggested by those who have brainstormed us).

We sincerely hope that our players@ccc will now be happier. :):):)

But, sometimes we wish that CCC will settle down, and not to have ever-changing systems, for it has caused too much stress to our players and organisers. :):):)

We welcomed Cheung for the first time at CCC playing for the Odies, and Andrew played for the Garfields. The format of play was restructured into a rather gruelling four games on, one game off sequence played on two courts, each player played 10 games in roughly 2.5 hours.

The teams were:

Garfields

d. BK168
e. Andrew

Odies

b. Ketut
c. Fuji

I agree, it is time for this to become not a trial. There is now sufficient interest to run Section 1 games on a recurring basis. If you are interested to join up for the next games (Sunday 3rd May) then go here:

Hey, sorry for the nitpicking, you mean 3rd June, rite?

If so, that means there are 2 leagues running on that nite, section1 + section 3.

yikes!

Yes, I mean the 3rd June. Thanks for the scoring stuff too HK, I'll bring it along with me Wed. It will be a bit of a tight fit with two games going on but I'm sure we'll manage.

DP:

manage? I am sure that would happen after a couple of catfights (hopefully this would attract more people to come on sunday CCC).

Seriously, regarding to the scorecard+board, thank chris to remember to give to you. Maybe those 2 board would be the official CCC scoreboard now.

I am glad that your league is up up and away!

Man, i still only have 5 people, so could you help me to advertise that on wed day? I have a lot of maybes (vivien, karen, thiru and his wife, melchor) except

Jack (who i don't think would come on wed day)
George B (who decline on last friday)

If you+BK could help me with that this would good.

Hi hkhung,

Don't worry. If Sunday 3-Jun-2007 is not possible, we still have the whole month of June to work on this League Games for Section 4 Players.

Only at the end of June, we will make a decision, regarding whether to make our Sunday CCC@Waverley an ongoing session.

But sincerely we hope that Sunday could/would be an ongoing session. :):):)

BTW, let us talk more about League Games for Section 4 Players in its thread located at:
http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44000
And we will ask more players to read it. :):):)

Cheers... chris@ccc
