What do you mean? Bao Chunlai is not a bad player! Beside from maybe TH, LD, PG, CH, and LCW too I think he is a level above everyone else. I think if he's in good shape he should be about the same with half of the players in that list.

Funny thing is, each time they sighted injuries as the reason to pull out or walkover a match between of their players... he will participate in the next tournament a week later, in top flight matches, with no signs of any injuries till the extend of winning the tournament. But when a player of another country is injured, they actually had to crawl their way back to top flight badminton.

Looking at the bunch of young cikus in the Academy... i don't think there are any, except for Woon Kei Wei, who has been promoted to the national team... it's hard to find talents and with so much alternatives and distractions, most will stray away instead of day in and out training, training and more training.

...well, well, after that 2 monstrous threads the previous day, the QF day seemed to lose its bite as we saw a much less BCers. Surprised to see not as many M'sian fans in BC, as i expected a pretty large contingent of support from the M'sian BCers...Perhaps all the M'sian BCers are resting and gearing themselves for a possible explosive Semifinals showdown, involving 3 MAS player/pairs...:confused: :rolleyes: :cool:
Here's an abbreviated rundown of the Semifinals day..

- Somewhat of an upset occurred after WangChen defeated ZhangNing in 3 tough sets. I guess the heat & humidity as well as the atmosphere in Jakarta had exhausted ZhangNing, esp. after last week's grueling S'pore Open. With both of CHN's top WS players out, could this open the door for ZhuLin to advance to the Finals, defend her title and repeat as champion? :cool:
- The semi-anticipated MS match featuring the youngster Andre Kurniawan T. against CH, lived up to nothing more than a practice session for ChenHong. CH's upcoming opponent, LCW, however struggled thru, but made it alive in 3 tough sets. While on the other side, BCL and TH didn't give any chances to their opponents to set up a rematch of last yr's Indonesian Open.
- As for the MD matches, both CY&FHF never let any chances for the MAS veterans to stage any comebacks. As for their upcoming opponents in the Semifinals, KKK&TBH without a doubt, stampeded their way to victory, defeating their INA counterparts in 24 quick minutes. On the other side, the other veterans also took care of their opponents in short fashion. Their counterparts for tomorrow's match, however, took a bit longer to wrap up their match.
- The XD match between INA vs. ENG was quite fantastic. After holding a huge advantage and literally on the threshold of advancing to the Semis, the ENG pair simply buckled under pressure, in the 2nd set, and allowed the INA pair to come back and win it. The ENG never regained momentum, until very late in the 3rd set, as they lose to the INA pair. On the other side, CHN's Smiling Assassin continued to wreak havoc, as she & her partner took down last yr's defending IO XD champs..:cool:
- In WD, Gao Ling also looks to put a stamp of her indelible smile on the Indonesian crowd and is on the verge of becoming a double winner in this tourney as she & her partner advance through, somewhat creating an upset over their top seeded compatriots. .:cool:

In all, not much excitement, but the build up was definitely there for the Semifinals day...:cool:

With all due respect to the Chinese but KKK/TBH were playing like school boys especially in the 2nd and 3rd set. Allowing the Chinese to attack. It looked like they already gave up starting from the 2nd set.
While Candra/Tony and Zakry/Fairu both pairs were making many unforce errors. It was a ding-dong match and could go any way. The Malaysian attacking play does not last long. A few continuos smashes they ran out of gas. I think they should build up on their attacking play.
