I just did a quick calculation of the top MD players' possible world ranking points on next Thursday. Much to my (pleasant) surprise, KKK/TBH will become World No.2.

Essentially, the current No.2 pair JJS/LYD's ranking will definitely drop because their last year's IO points will be "expired". On the other hand, being eliminated at qf of this year's IO, current No.3 MK/HS will be overtaken by 3 pairs - KKK/TBH, CW/TG and JE/MLH. Among them, JE/MLH will certainly occupy No.4.

Now it's between KKK/TBH and CW/TG. KKK/TBH has a better chance to take up No.2 as the 9000 points earned by CW/TG at the last IOwill be "expired", while KKK/TBH will keep all the points they earned previously. The only scenario where CW/TG overtake KKK/TBH is that CW/TG win the title while KKK/TBH are beaten in the sf. If KKK/TBH advance to final, the No.2 spot is theirs even if they fail to win the title.

Okay, World No.2 is within KKK/TBH's reach. However, it's still a long way for them to overtake CY/FHF due to the big gap between the points the two pairs earned. They need to win the WC title and at least 2 more SS titles to achieve that. But now we have some doubt in their consistency ...

last time, it is calculated like this..
the point last for 1 year. so just add up all the point that are not expired yet. if the point are already expired, just minus it..

but, after the headquater of BWF change to KL, they seems like change the calculation method already.

i try to calculate with the above method also, but sometime not really tally with the point published..:confused:

the point of each tournament is depends on what level it is, for eg winner for super series will get 9200 pts.. below i had attach a pdf file to show the point, u can have a look on it..

point of 1 event is summarised after that event finish n is last for 1 year started from the date of summarization.. so, after 1 year, the point will be minus from the total..

Only the points earned in the top-10 point-earning events of a player or a pair in the last 12 months (should he or she or they participated in more than 10 events) are counted. However, points earned in the previous edition of the same event after the present edition is wrapped up will be expired too. E.g., IO'06 was held in Jun'06, which is only 11 months ago. However, after IO'07 is over, points awarded in IO'06 will no longer be counted.

Petya Nedeltcheva vs Wang Chen - Different class but it will be a bit of a slog.

The only major change is the introduction of notional rankings for seedings of double events. However, I realize that the rule "points awarded previous edition of an event will be expired after the current edition is over" is no longer there, which means that the BWF might have removed the rule. If that's the case, that means JJS/LYD may remain in No.2 should both KKK/TBH and CW/TG are beaten at sf, and CW/TG will still rank ahead KKK/TBH unless KKK/TBH win the title while CW/TG are eliminated in sf.

I'm only going to make predictions on Mens Singles. Don't really feel like writing them out for all events just now.

The only unknown factor is really how well prepared is Chen Hong... since leaving CHN national team, his performance had been affected somewhat. Hahaha... I got mixed up between the not-so-famous players... All I remembered that it was someone from Europe whom beat Gade in AE 07, and that John Moody is not even from Europe.. How could I mess that up:p

CJ's case at Swiss open was different, as Simon won the match by "retire" of Lin Dan, and the effect of the curse was cancelled so to speak... if say Lin Dan won that match(which we'll never know), Chen Jin may again have to suffer the curse...LOL.

There were a few more exceptions from the curse beside the one you mentioned, but it just seemed like there were more cases that support this curse than otherwise. Let me give you another example... Taufik at surdiman cup 05, defeated Gade, then the next day lost to Lin Dan.:p

Chong Wei to beat CH in 2 games if he plays well and 3 if not: as long as he doesn't panic, he has fitness to burn and has romped through the earlier rounds not really troubled. Ominously for CH hasn't played his best yet either and having achieved his target of semis after some disappointing tournaments he can come out of his shell and really play...

When you're struggling to find your form you have to go back to boring and basic LCW has, has found his form. CH is not as fearsome as old - he still reads the game well as ever and has enough ways of playing to really push anyone, but LCW is fitter and faster. CH will try to dominate the net battle as Chen Yu did at the AE to force the short lift, and he's good there, but I think LCW has the desire and heart and Chen Hong is coming towards the end of a brilliant career: it's a bit like Sampras's last year in tennis when the player was still great but the fire had burned out.

Credit to LCW who is hard on himself and carries much expectation. No pressure, but I really hope he can do it and meet his friend Taufik in the final.

I think it was a new scheme. I remember I read a news article on Rexy's crticism on the NEW scheme (the word "new" was used in the article) in early March. Furthermore, if such a rule is already there more than half a year ago, KKK/TBH didn't have to play qualifying rounds at MO'07 and KO'07 (or even had the uncertainty of whether they were qualified for any SS tournament in late Dec last year) - KKK/CCM was still among top-10 by the time KKK/TBH won a gold medal at AG.

I believe CH's complaint was valid, LCW's racket didn't touch the net, but either his knee touched the net or his foot crossed under the net before the shuttle went to the ground. The replay showed this quite clearly.

Even in the 2nd game, LCW's racket crossed on top of the net slightly during tap in.

Tough luck CH, though I think the better player still won today.

However, the BWF should consider having better monitoring at the net so that such controversial circumstances does not happen. CH totally lost focus after the bad call.
