I don't think so,snasirin.:D
I agree with you that all malaysian can play very well but not easy to beat chinese and indonesian(USA) pairs.

Although Koo/Tan can beat Cai/Fu many times but tomorrow is different, now Cai/Fu have a great power and I think in semifinal match tomorrow, it is a good chance for them to break Koo/Tan.

For second match, I'm not sure who will win but I believe in Chandra/Tony. They have more experience than malaysian pair, I think they can beat malaysian.

:D :D

Maybe, in final Cai/Fu will meet Chandra/Tony again.

It will be a tough fight for TBH/KKK. China will most likely have no representative in MS so FHF/CY will ensure they are in MD final. I am also sure they want to show the world and people of China they are world #1 and world champion. And most importantly, they don't want the head to head to remain N-0. Anyway my bet is on TBH/KKK. Jia You TBH/KKK. :D :D :D

Fairuzizuan/Zakry looks like a "lesser version" of KKK/TBH - they are only in their third international tournaments since they forged partnership but they are already in 2 semi-finals and 1 quarterfinal. The catch is that they have only beat two pairs among current world top-10 to date - KKK/TBH and JE/MLH, which means that they haven't been thoroughly tested. However, it seems that they are in the right direction to become the third Mas pair to break into the world top-10.

Indonesia Open: Koo-Tan, Fairuzizuan-Zakry alive

Malaysia's Koo Kien Keat (front) returns a shot as teammate Tan Boon Heong looks on in their men's doubles match against Indonesia's Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan in the quarter-finals of the Indonesia Open in Jakarta yesterday. The Malaysian pair won 21-15, 21-16.
THE Indonesia Open is considered the toughest grand prix tournament on the international circuit but Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong and Fairuzizuan Tazari-Zakry Latif played as if they were playing at home when they stormed into the semi-finals at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta yesterday.
In fact, four Malaysians pairs including Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah and Chan Chong Ming-Hoon Thien How had made the quarter-finals but the latter two pairs fell out yesterday while their two compatriots remain solid.

Kien Keat-Boon Heong beat local favourites Markis Kido-Hendra Setiawan, the 2005 champions, 21-15, 21-16 in just 24 minutes.

Fairuzizuan-Zakry, ma-king a strong impact in just their third tournament as a pair, beat compatriots Chong Ming-Thien How 17-21, 21-15, 21-12. It was Kien Keat-Boon Heong’s third win over Markis-Hendra in as many meetings and the manner in which the Malaysian pai won makes one wonder who had home advantage.

Veteran pair Tan Fook-Wan Wah failed to avenge their Singapore Open title defeat to world champions Fu Haifeng-Cai Yun of China when they lost 21-15, 21-18. The China pair next meet Kien Keat-Boon Heong today.

Kien Keat, speaking by telephone from Jakarta yesterday, said he realises how tough it is to win the Indonesia Open but his immediate task is to clear the semi-finals. "I have regained my focus and strokes but we still have a long way to go to reach the form which helped us win the All England," said Kien Keat.

"We have beaten Haifeng-Cai Yun twice but this is a new battle and we have to keep fighting. We are looking forward to reaching the final.

"It is a long time since a Malaysian pair has won the Indonesia Open but we do not want to think about that and put additional pressure on us. I would rather stay focused on the semi-final first."

Razif and Jalani Sidek were the only Malaysians to win the Indonesia Open and did so twice — in 1988 and 1990 — and if Kien Keat-Boon Heong’s performance is anything to go by, they can end a 17-year dry spell. Fairuzizuan-Zakry Latif, who upset two-time All England champions Jens Eriksen-Martin Lundgaard Hansen of Denmark in the quarter-finals, next face a formidable task against the Indonesian-US combination of Candra Wijaya and Tony Gunawan, the defending champions, for a spot in the last four. The former Olympic champions will be Indonesia’s last hope of keeping the title at home but Fairuzizuan-Zakry, still novices as a pair on the circuit, have every chance of pulling off an upset.

Meanwhile, Wong Pei Tty-Chin Eei Hui’s run in the women’s doubles came to an end when they lost 21-15, 21-17 to China’s Zhao Tingting-Yang Wei.

KKK seems to be the weak link in this partnership. the opponents are finding him as target. even our local pairs are targetting their attacking mode on him. this makes KKK lost confidence. when confidence is gone, the pair seems like giving up. from what i saw today, KKK/TBH gave up from the 2nd set. the 3rd set is worst. trailing almost 10 points behind. CY/FHF is simply better. simply simply better. KKK/TBH used back the same old strategy in AE and Swiss Open. but this time, CY/FHF counter attack their strategy. therefore, KKK/TBH strategy is no longer relevant. KKK/TBH need to look back at CTF/LWW. play an open game, lift shuttle, defense and smash. this is good basic skill by CTF/LWW. due to age and stamina factor, CTF/LWW lost. but if KKK/TBH can follow this style, i'm sure they can beat CY/FHF.

I think with this new pair MZ/MF coming up, BAM should not make another mistake and MZ/MF should take the KKK/TBH decline as a lesson. I hope this this time they listen to Rexy and I also hope that MF/MZ will stay level headed if they do win the IO tomorrow. They are indeed a better pair in attacking than KKK/TBH but they need to improve on their defence. With exposure they will gain the needed experience. However, it will still depend on MZ/MF self discipline at the end of the day. As long as they stay focused, they will do well.

MZ/MF has all the potential to go a long way. Technically, especially attacking they are better than KKK/TBH. MZ's smashes are powerful and precise. Give them a couple more of tournaments, they can deliver for Msia. On the personality side, I think MZ/MF are much more grounded than KKK who tends to be a showman.

Trust me, this new pair has the making of being true champions. Win or lose today against Cai/Fu, the boys will gain in experience.

Good performance by Fairuz/Zakry in the final. They lost ground at the critical moments in both sets, but they showed no fear and still clawed back despite being far down in 2nd game.

A few rallies perhaps they should have won, missed some net sitters and smashing out of the baseline. But that will soon improve with more experience and familiarity with each other.

Definitely much better than Koo/Tan in yesterday's semis. The onus now is for all of them to improve further, as Cai/Fu has moved the game forward since their loss in All-England/Swiss Open.

Yes, I agree too.

With some more experience, this new pair will be THE PAIR. They have the makings of a true champion as they are grounded, and have the hunger to win. I think once they improve on their defence and add some power to their gameplay , they can match the best out there consistently.

Fairuzizuan-Zakry finally rise up to the challenge

14/05/07, 12:14:40

PETALING JAYA: National doubles players Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari and Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif were determined to prove a point after national doubles coach Rexy Mainaky had split up their previous partnerships.
And yesterday, the duo showed that they had taken the challenge to their hearts when they showed great fighting spirit in their 17-20, 20-22 defeat to world number one Cai Yun-Fu Haifeng of China in the men's doubles final of the Indonesian Open in Jakarta yesterday.
If not for their over zealousness, the fast-paced Fairuzizuan-Zakry, who are only competing in their third international tournament together, could have won their first international title.
They could have also ended a 17-year wait for a men's doubles title for Malaysia in the Indonesian Open.
But despite the defeat, the duo can walk tall. They have shown that they have what it takes to challenge the big guns.
En route to yesterday's final, the duo, had packed off two established pairs – Denmark's Jens Eriksen-Martin Lundgaard Hansen and the lethal Indonesian-American combination of Candra Wijaya-Tony Gunawan.
Boosted with the good showing, Zakry said that he hoped to scale greater heights with Fairuzizuan.
“We did not know what the future held for us when Rexy made the shuffle (swapping partners). But rather than giving up, we took it up as a challenge. We just wanted to prove that we can do it too,” said Zakry in a telephone interview from Jakarta yesterday.
Previously, Zakry's partner was Gan Teik Chai while Fairuzizuan played with Lin Woon Fui.
“It has been a great ride for us since we (Fairuzizuan and I) teamed up. We were in the semi-finals of the ABC (Asian Badminton Championships) and the quarter-finals in the Singapore Open.
“In fact, for me, this is my first final appearance in an Open tournament. It would have been great if we had won it.”
The 22-year-old Fairuzizuan, whose previous best effort in an international tournament was a runner-up spot with Woon Fui at the Malaysian Open two years ago, was disappointed with the defeat.
“Coach Rexy said that we were not patient enough. The Chinese proved to be more composed during the crucial moments. We lost out on experience today,” said Fairuzizuan.
“But the most memorable thing for me is when we defeated legendary Tony-Candra for the first time in front of their home crowd. That was awesome for me.”
The Malaysians won US$7,200 for their runner-up effort.

The Malaysians won US$7,200 for their runner-up effort.

because it implies, or at least it tries to imply, that only with malays can Malaysia live.
i dont have a problem with ethnic malays, like any other race in malaysia, there are good and bad people.

Are you sure that's the real reason?

Anyway it's a little too late right now for debates on Kenegaraan Malaysia and pedantry but you can PM me for further discussions.
