You can try racquet ball or squash glasses.

Bolle makes frames with an inner attachment frame which you can get prescribed lenses on that. They have clear out lenses.

I am sure a few more companies make it as well, try Rudy project.

But I guess the best is either not to wear glasses, contact lenses may be good as well, but I personally don't like to put things into my eyes.

Before I had laser eye surgery I would wear contacts for playing sport (of any sort).

Ermm threadstarter instead of splurging a couple of hundred bucks on a rudy project why not use the money for a racquet?

In my opinion, getting a good pair of spectables (i.e. having good eyesight) is much more important than having a good racket. If you can't see properly, how can you hit the bird well even if you have the top-of-the-range racket!? Of course, if you have money to spend, Rudy project is nice, but there are other cheaper alternatives.

If you are into those kind of wargame/skirmish things, there is a Taiwanese company call Guarder which makes Bolle/Rudy like protective eyewears which has the RX attachment as well. I think they are just a fraction of the price for the branded frames. Try to do a search in google.

If you're cock-eyed why would you even be playing? Seriously, i doubt that a pair of glasses will make that much of a diff

Clever. My eyesight is 6/6. Anyway, i dont think a pair of sunglasses will help much at all unless its like cycling. :D

Nice turn of phrase..... Doubt hes "cock-eyed" probably feels that the glasses restrict some vision, constantly need cleaning and feel like there about to fall off.

Thats why I would suggest as an alternative trying contact lenses the ultra soft daily disposables are the most comfortable, but if your wearing them everyday its cheaper (mid to long term) to get your eyes lasered.

Hmm i think he's talking about sunglasses not spectacles.

It think it is a bit rude to call people 'cock-eyed'. To be fair, even a 'cock-eyed' person has the right to play badminton for God's sake!

People are trying to ask where they can get special glasses, not another racket. If you can't help, just don't post here.

vagpwner is absolutely right, contact lenses is still the best option. No doubt about it.

Not my take on it, but if he is wanting to wear sunglasses to play badminton then he dafter than a daft person whos just been committed to an institute for daft people.

Reason being that he will suffer all the problems mentioned in my earlier post whilst making it harder for his eyes to track a fast moving shuttle.

Oh and. My dad has this pair of freeon golf i think from rudy project and the orange lens somehow enhances the light or something. makes it clearer. :D so sunglasses arent that bad an idea.

I had a 'brush of a feather once' on one of my eyes, can't rememebr which one though. In fact it was quite painful, to be honest, but it definitely did not cause any damage to my eyeball. I have yet to see any eye damaging accidents in badminton matches.

The only major incident that I saw was one Indonesian or Malaysian (mens double) player dropped dead after he blacked-out on the court during a match, and there was with live TV coverage. If someone can remind me of who he was?

There is quite a selection of specialty eye protectors, and some that you can get prescription lenses for...

Your best bet, is to check out tennis/racquetball/squash retailers.

If you're not much into the goggle's styles, you're in luck, because recent products have improved dramatically in design...

If you're really into higher fashion.

checkout http://www.oakley.com

Prescription eye-wear, that have rubberized wrap around the side of the head grippings.

I have a pair for badminton, and a couple of regular prescription oakley's I wear on different occassions.

I wear contact lens most of the time when I play badminton, I find that it makes a big difference because of refraction when I'm wearing glasses and the smaller field of vision. Contact lenses would be more effective than wearing any type of glasses, and besides you do know that Edgar Davids wears his glasses not because of shortsightedness, but because he has an eye condition? All other football players wear contact lenses.

I can agree with Loppy, however again...

Like with our equipment we use to play, it is mostly personal preference.

My eyes get irritated by contact lenses, and also I prefer glasses...
I have no problems or issues with field of vision.

To each his/her own.

I strongly dissaprove of playing wif contacts on.

A while bak i got a shuttlecock smashed into my left eye which left it blinded for 2 months( plus a fear of playing at the front in doubles :crying:). Most of it was jst internal bleeding bt the doc sed i was lucky that i wasn't wearing contacts which wud hav left it wif a lot of external damage too. The same probably wif glass lenses( nt plastic) which cud potentially shatter. jst having internal damage was far from fun :D
So my take....as flippin rare as it is to get hit in the eye(....had i bent down jst 2cm less/more..), u dnt wanna b wearing contacts if it does happen

hahaha i jst noticed...quite ironic that i was blinded at the time of the last post

no, there isn't, but theres tons of choices. squash goggles probably work best. basically any safety glasses or goggles work.

i got shot in the eye late last year, which basically took me out of action for about 2 months.
i invested in a pair of oakley m-frames, which i use now on and off, depending on whats going on. fortunately i did not have to contend with a prescription. what is possible though, is wearing something like the m-frames, radar, flak-jacket, etc with clear lenses.
if you have a prescription set, wear your contacts under the oakley glasses!

they're expensive, but they're good.
the m-frames, and radars have various lens shapes that fit a large variety of facial features and sizes. there are also a few different clear lenses that you can choose from depending on what kind of hall you play in, how bright your environment is, having different % of light transmission.

Seung Mo SHON is the most famous case yet, he is something like 30% blind in one eye.

I have worn contacts for a long time. But last year I was struck in the eye quite hard and has some light flashes, didn't think much of it. I went home and straight to bed. A year on I had some vision problems and went to have a check up. 24 hour later I went to Sydney eye hospital for a detached retina surgery.

Hopefully in two more months I can use contacts again.

Glasses are fine, but contacts give better peripheral vision and you don't have seating around ears and glasses slipping off problems.

I have two pairs of Oakley Half Jacket for archery and badminton playing. The first pic is a normal retail version and the second one is a SI version. Which's specially made for US troops and police .

I wear a pair of rimless Lindberg Air Titaniums. They weigh just over 8 grams. 4 business cards weigh about this much. I'd say they are the closest thing to not wearing glasses but not having the hassle of contacts. Added advantage of enough eye protection from smashes to the face :)

I wear racquetball sports specs with pescribed lenses. A couple of my friends had eye injuries from playing badminton.

one had a racquet him near the eye area, had internal bleeding. He mostly recovered, little bit blurry
another one took a shuttle in the eye, now the pupil is always dilated.

Yeah, you will be surprised that there is an emergency every week at the Vancouver General relating to eye injuries caused by shuttlecocks and racquets.
