Whatever was said by Oranje, is very much exaggerated!!! My smash can't even trouble a lady player much less you guys, especially HH players like Terry, Loosai, Ct23 or Es-stateplayer. I am just an average player, who can hit a shuttle from point A to point B. That's all. So whatever was said, all overrated. I think i'll get bullied and thrashed on the court this friday.

As for myself, like before, wear spectacles, tall (less than 6ft), short spiky hair, carries a red yonex bag and will probably be accompanied by my wife. Presently, walk with a slight limp on the right leg as i just recently recovered from a torn ligament below my achilles on my right foot. A bit slow and cautious, but i can play.

Thanks for the kind words, Ct23. As for my injury, i have recovered 95%. The other 5% is more mental than anything. Still cautious when going for deep shots. Already had a few games, seems fine. Well, be meeting you tonite. Lets have fun and enjoy the game.

In addition, i am very happy to have made the acquaintances of Loosai (Jeff), Ct23 (Calvin) and Mice (Shahril), who are also "High Hand" players! Glad to have met you guys and hope we will be able to meet up more in the coming future for badminton and some "teh tarik" session.

my gf(former national player) once told me that its not what level you are at, but how many titles and at which level you got it from which determines your level of play, and you can only know how good you are only in a tournament.

Maybe es-stateplayer is just trying to be humble/polite when creating this thread. But I do agree that es-stateplayer should not have defined state players in Malaysia as average.

When I go back to Malaysia, I would like to play once with es-stateplayer group. But I will remember to bring one or two dozen of durians to feed his players first before start of the game. :p:p

Yeah, es-stateplayer's trying to be real here... he's just trying to say that some of us out there can't play REAL badminton, i.e. people who play REAL badminton are the ones who can take on state players and above. I have one example, Jacky, from my group who was just a school player, and I think he can take on a bunch of state players all on the same court. Real natural talent and physically built to beat the crap out of any state or national player. Same goes to Vincent in my group. For the rest of us just side aside or just become one of the pom pom girls and cheer for your men and women that's getting it REAL out there. yeeee hawwww!!!!

Hey Kamen, u must be quite a good player, lets go play some badminton later at Taman Megah... I'll be there 7+ onwards... and fyi im not state player level but had won the coveted Subang Jaya School Badminton Boys under 17 singles champion wayyyy back many years ago...

You have to admit our country's standard for badminton is higher than many others. :) And yes, I have played with some Australian state players before. I don't usually make empty statements.. Then again, they were just juniors, around my age, I could be wrong.

Just fyi, I think you are quite a good player but need to improve, say playing at the net coz as I remembered the last time we played, your net play not so good but back play is impressive and powerful. But that was months ago and you might have improved in that area since then.

Are you talking about Rengga in Es-stateplayer's group? I also played with him before a few years ago when he was playing in Subang Racquet and golf club. He is actually an ok guy la... I dont think he will hurt you but he is very serious when he plays his badminton. He once told me that he managed to play a rubber game with Lee Tsuen Seng back in his hey days which is quite an accomplishment as Lee was one of the top junior players back then. Just recalled some moments when I actually hit the shuttle in his eye ball. I didnt do it on purpose but his eye ball was so huge and he was so damn tall 6feet 5inches... It was so funny to me actually back then.

Hey, I also didnt have proper training during school days. It was passion for badminton that kept me with the game, and might I say that I have beaten a few state players, but not in tournaments la. As the saying goes, where there is a will, there is a way... so if you really wanna improve your game, there are always ways to do it, for example, Terry, one of my bc friends, who is considered quite good already is taking up coaching lessons to improve and maintain his game. See! he can do it. I'm sure we all can also.

In the end we all just want to have a social balance in the badminton group that we join and hope the competitiveness is healthy and everyone is satisfied at the end of of an exhausting day of work and badminton.

currently i got join a group on Thursday... they r all better than me, but i feel comfortable to join them, they never scold me... giv advice got la... always play wif smiling face... really enjoy playing wif them... if i play like in "competition mode", i can still giv them some challenge.. if not... lost kao kao...

Hey, I also didnt have proper training during school days. It was passion for badminton that kept me with the game, and might I say that I have beaten a few state players, but not in tournaments la. As the saying goes, where there is a will, there is a way... so if you really wanna improve your game, there are always ways to do it, for example, Terry, one of my bc friends, who is considered quite good already is taking up coaching lessons to improve and maintain his game. See! he can do it. I'm sure we all can also.

In the end we all just want to have a social balance in the badminton group that we join and hope the competitiveness is healthy and everyone is satisfied at the end of of an exhausting day of work and badminton.[/quote]

Its ideal to hav social balance in the group of whom from different background. However its no way an easy task to pick n choose these people..:(

I think its not always just about who is stronger or who should cover who!! but rather thinking how to apply good team-work during de game. i.e. there is this guy who is very fast n unlimited stamina who always cover up for his partner until...hmm..i guess he has negleted...to trust his partner...hence v saw couple of times racquet 'crossing swords' n guess what !! his partner threw his racquet (broken) and walk off!!:D

Well the only way to improve is to play with those better than u! Dont you think so?
