TCS is probably the most expressive MAS junior singles player. I have never seen anyone so fired up throughout the match.

Next match should be Yulianti/Dili Richi Puspita vs Kim Min Jung/Ha Jung Eun. Looking for an upset...

badMania

Hmm...or is it the MD first? Seems that MD is being played in the next court now. OK...the TV court will be the WD. MD Final will be the last match as usual.

huangkwokhau
05-27-2007, 03:17 AM
so far: ENG, MAS and INA with 1 each title...I think Korean may take next 2 games...Hope INA MD can make it...

Oh! really, hope it could evenly spread with one each or may be Indo or Kor have the change to win two...but certainly its not going to see a clean sweep...sweep...by the indon .....as they have representatives in all events..and thats impressive!

TCS is probably the most expressive MAS junior singles player. I have never seen anyone so fired up throughout the match.

And that's probably in his personality. If it fires him up and gets him going why change the formula? Good for him for his win and for his self-expression. You can't expect the same muted (read boring) response from all players.

badMania
05-27-2007, 03:23 AM
A long rally and INA takes the lead 3-2.

huangkwokhau
05-27-2007, 03:23 AM
Hope INA WD can play well..tough to beat this Korean girls...more experience than INA

huangkwokhau
05-27-2007, 03:25 AM
9-4 so far for INA WD.....

badMania
05-27-2007, 03:26 AM
An excellent start as Yulianti/Dili played very well to open a 11-4 lead. They should take the first set.

You dont have to agree with me.....thats my opinion...!!!

Mate, don't misunderstand me, I'm not here to start a war (peace :)). It's just that if badminton is to gain more worldwide interest, I think we need players with charisma and personality. This topic has been covered in another thread so I won't hijack this one for that purpose. Anyway, thanks for reporting :)

Congrats to TCS! He has earned 4000 ranking points. The highest in his career so far. Jia You in Singapore Satellite. Since Roslin's chance of winning WC is extremely slim. BAM should consider giving wild card to TCS to gain exposure.

huangkwokhau

Korean just woke up...10-14 for INA WD

huangkwokhau
05-27-2007, 03:33 AM
21-17 for IND WD...too late for Korean to catch up...

badMania
05-27-2007, 03:33 AM
Phew...if not for the huge lead at the start, INA pair would probably lose it. They take the first set 21-17. The KOR pair once managed to narrow the lead to just 2 points.

badMania
05-27-2007, 03:34 AM
BADMANIA...do you recognize the INA's coach? who is he??

I don't know his name, but, I saw him in the Cheers Singapore Satellite last year.

The KOR dominates the second set as expected as they open a 11-6 lead. They will take the second set.

huangkwokhau
05-27-2007, 03:40 AM
Koreans get mad...They will take 2nd set from INA

badMania
05-27-2007, 03:42 AM
No fight at all as the KOR strolls to a 16-7 lead.

huangkwokhau
05-27-2007, 03:43 AM
agreed...it is boring...lets move on to 3rd set......

badMania
05-27-2007, 03:45 AM
It's a massacre as the KOR pair gets ruthless once they wake up from their dream. They finish off the second set 21-9.

badMania
05-27-2007, 03:47 AM
The KOR pair will take the gold...the INA pair is simply one class below them.

huangkwokhau
05-27-2007, 03:47 AM
still messy for INA...I think Korean will whip them quickly

huangkwokhau
05-27-2007, 03:49 AM

huangkwokhau
05-27-2007, 03:52 AM
11-8 for INA WD....somehow it looks so soft when INA smash but Korean...just like BOOM>>BOOM!!

badMania
05-27-2007, 03:52 AM
Hmm...the INA pair put up a brave fight as they lead 11-8. KOR pair started to make some mistakes again. Can they last the distance?

huangkwokhau
05-27-2007, 03:54 AM
apparently not..I guess...11-10 for INA....Kor narrows the gap

huangkwokhau
05-27-2007, 03:56 AM
whats happening to Korean...leading 12-11, now 12-15 for INA

huangkwokhau
05-27-2007, 03:57 AM
17-12 for INA WD....Many mistakes from Koreans..long..wide....net..

huangkwokhau
05-27-2007, 04:00 AM
Yulianti/puspita Richi def Kim/Ha..21-17,9-21, 21-15.....wow..what an upset!!
I thought Korean would take this game....

badMania
05-27-2007, 04:01 AM
Wow...an unbelievable result...the INA pair of Yulianti/Dili Richi Puspita wins the match 21-17, 9-21, 21-16.

The key moments were at 12-12 when the KOR pair started making mistakes all over the places and let the INA pair lead 17-12. There was no turning back and it is indeed a great performance.

Any news from MD? I hope Bona/Ahsan can manage Korean pair, and Indonesia can get 3 titles in this tournament. Indonesia youngsters give good news more than their senior recently :( So sad Wahyu can't get the title, however, enter the final is good achievement for him. Do not give up, Wahyu. Maria Elfira I think one class down compare with Hallam.

Krisna

The second set was tighter until the moment when Tantowi/Yulianti were leading 14-12. Then, they made lots of mistakes and Trikus's smashes were still lethal and the veteran club pair Tri Kusharyanto/Yunita Tetty takes the gold after a 21-15, 21-17 victory over the junior Pelatnas pair.

What a disappointment....
Good to know tetty won the game. She should show PBSI that she can be the 2nd MX after nova/natsir

Bear in mind that revenge in the Singapore Satellite is still possible. In fact, Yulianti/Dili Puspita Richi would have to beat both Korean pairs again if they are to win the title there.

Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan should have no problems of entering the Final again...where the most likely opponent would be Cho Gun Woo/Yoo Yeon Seong.

The KOR WD pair was making way too many mistakes at the crucial stage of the rubber-set. Had they play the same rhtym as the second set, the INA pair won't stand a chance

God is on INA's side today
The KOR pair was leading 12-11...before disaster struck...and suddenly they found themselves 12-17 down. They fought back and closed the gap down..but it was never enough. There was also a controversial call late in the rubber-set which titled the balance in favor of the INA pair and the KOR pair knew at that time that they were going to lose.

Come on Kido...you must be kidding.....Vietnam challenge is slightly tougher than NZ open....may be not in MS but it has been a while any junior/younster of INA enters the final...give it time...you can not expect instant result...

beating Koreans in MD and WD are really good as they were supposed to be better than INAs...

Right now...they rank 57th, by winning this challenge....they will rise to between 42 to 45....so depends on Singapore's result.. ..they may taste some SS before end of the year....it is possible..though...INA needs more MD back up....

Well I am not dissapointed at all... :p

Indonesian players are in the finals of ALL FIVE categories...;)
Got THREE TITLES out of the possible five. The XD final was all-Indonesian. Thiese kind of results remind me of the early 1990s, actually... :D

The MS final was competitively played. Rubber sets, but obviously Tan Chun Seang was the better player today and he deserved to win. Ari Yuli Wahyu defeated Nicholas Kidd and Roslin Hafiz to reach the finals. These 2 players are ranked so much higher than Ari and more experienced too. I'd say Ari is becoming a competitive player... in addition to his roommate, Andre Kurniawan. I see no reason for me to be dissapointed in MS. :p

The WS final was won by the obviously stronger and more experienced Tracey Hallam. No cries there. Maria Elfira has done an outstanding job to get this far... :D

Interesting! What bad habits?

The Dutch, Indonesia's former colonial master in the past taught us:

Bad management of institutions... Proof: the Dutch East Indies Company [VOC] even went bankrupt due to terrible management...

Messy administration... Proof: when the Dutch East Indies Company was dissolved, they have unread documents that could take 15 years to go through...

A culture of plundering everything that's good...

Lack of enlightenment that an institution need to seriously add-value to continue to exist well...

Mastery of devide and conquer tactics...

We are seeing all the bad habits now in PBSI... :crying:

I see.

Colonial masters are not totally bad. It is true that a common strategy for them is to "divide and rule" in order to maintain power and control. Singapore under the British, was geographically compartmentized into different living districts/areas for the different races so that they cannot easily come together to unify against their masters.

But Singapore inherited, apart from the grand colonial buildings and engineering structures which now from part of our heritage, a very good set of administrative, legal and judical systems that make government, commerce and industry tick. Adherence to the rule of law and the proper keeping of records, including accounting records, gave Singapore a good start when it became self-governing and later independent after breaking away from Malaysia.

But the most valuable asset that Singapore took away was English as a language of business and communication. It has the indirect effect of uniting the people, since different races would want to promote their own language, and enable Singapore to deal and learn from the West. :)

The success of TCS in Vietnam proves Rasid Sidek is good enough we can rely on his 08-12 project.
TCS should be trained and play more like LD style, A good offence is always a good defence.
TCS can play aggresive game which other MAS senior players lack of, except LCW. What he needs to improve is his stamina. Rasid and Fu KoK Keong used to trained this under Fang (his ex coach and now INA coach)

Surprisingly, it was a Dutch economist who masterminded Singapore's early economic development that led to prosperity today. This former UN expert stayed on in Singapore as an economic consultant to the government.

It is true that the British had a different vision of themselves than the Dutch. The Brits believed they were 'the chosen people' that were blessed to rule the Earth and really wanted their provinces to be part of a prosperous global empire where the Sun never sets... Can't say the same for all the imperialist, eh?!? :p

Kidosetiawan, I didn't say that all Indonesians behave like our Dutch colonialist. I just listed some of the bad examples they taught us... That list does not describe all Indonesian. I only listed historical facts... Hard to deny the Dutch did all that [in the past]... :o

Unluckily for us, some practiced and even try to perfect  what the teachers taught...

Luckily, some of the students were not paying attention to the Dutch... :p :D [Probably those who were too busy playing badminton and watching badminton tournaments... ;)]

Ok, I am sorry. This discussion is getting off topic. Back to talking about the 2007 Vietnam Challenge... :D

As I mentioned before that definitely he has avery bright future...netting and snash are there....all he needs is abit more patience and BAM should send him to more tournaments so TCS can learn to take pressure.....overall I was impressive with his neeting, smash and his stamina.....glad to see another rising star in the making....:p
