Dude, that's a very long-sighted project. Is it a thousand-generation breeding program to produce super-players?

Yeah..VERY long sighted project. But one of them actually aims to be included in TC squad next year! Check out their thread here --> Malaysian Juniors (http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33350)

Hafiz pulls out, Pahang
By LIM TEIK HUAT
PETALING JAYA: Badminton fans in Pahang have been deprived of the chance to watch the much-anticipated clash between the country’s top two men’s singles players – Lee Chong Wei and Mohd Hafiz Hashim – this weekend.
Hafiz, the national number two, has pulled out of the Pahang Open, which is the first leg of the National Grand Prix circuit this year.
Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) official How Kim Tho, who is the designated team manager, confirmed yesterday that Hafiz would not compete in the Pahang Open.
“He has pulled out, citing injury. There will be no re-draw because Hafiz had a first-round bye,” said Kim Tho.
Hafiz now has to play in the Selangor Open from July 5-8 or he will not be eligible to compete in the National Grand Prix Finals.
There are only two legs in the National Grand Prix circuit this year because the national players have to compete in the World Super Series badminton events and also because Malaysia will host the World Championships in Kuala Lumpur in August.
Hafiz’s withdrawal has handed national number one Chong Wei a golden chance to win the title this Sunday.
Chong Wei has been undefeated in the local circuit since 2003, although he lost to Hafiz in the first round of the Singapore Open early this month.
However, Chong Wei showed that he is back on the winning trail by beating Bao Chunlai of China in straight games to clinch the Indonesian Open title last week.
The Penang-born shuttler is the top seed for the Pahang Open and also has a first round bye.
Kuan Beng Hong should benefit from Hafiz’s absence and make the final from the bottom half but he will have to watch out for juniors like Beryno Wong and Lim Kenn.
While the men’s singles title looks to be Chong Wei’s for the taking, the men’s doubles title will be fiercely contested.
Indonesian Open finalists Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari-Mohd Zakry Latif have decided to compete in the Pahang Open after all.
The newly formed pair skipped the ongoing New Zealand Open and their inclusion will spice up the competition for the men’s doubles crown.
Kim Tho said a re-draw of the men’s doubles event would be made.
“We pulled Fairuzizuan-Zakry out of the New Zealand Open because they made the final of the Indonesian Open,” he said.
“They will now compete in the Pahang Open because Division One (where the senior national players are playing) only begins on Friday.”
All the national men’s doubles pairs, except for Chan Chong Ming-Hoon Thien How who are playing in the New Zealand Open, will be in action in Kuantan.
Asian Badminton Championships winners Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah and All-England champions Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong are the first and second seeds respectively.
Too bad Mohd Arif Abdul Latif have a bad 2nd Round playing the 1st Seed. He realy played well recently.

Actually, there should be some promotions. the top four seeds are now as follows :-
1) Lee Chong Wei (world #6)
2) Kuan Beng Hong (World #38)
3) Tan Chun Seang (World #48)
4) Pei Wei Chung (world #80)
So effectively Kuan Beng Hong should take Hafiz's place at the bottom of the draw.

CTF/LWW won by the skin of their teeth ! Team mates or no team mates, these fellas might have just been over confident before the start of the match and took their junior opponents lightly.
Imagine of course we fans having a good time at the game - they were playing against Chan Peng Soon and R Latif, and mind u did the boys give a good fight...
The juniors took the first game at 26 - 24, lost the second at 21-14 ( thought CTF/LWW decided not to take any risks ) and the juniors came charging back in the rubber to lead before ...well, experience counts in the end and the juniors lost 19 - 21.
I for one was really pleased that we do have a 3rd generation to look forward to... wonder if Chan PS and RL are normal partners or scratch ?
The other games were as per expected, Chong Wei and the other MD pairs showing their mettle.
Goodie night , all ... going for the quarters tomorrow morning !:p

Chan Peng Soon is normally partnering Chang Hun Ping, and Razif Latif with Khoo Chung Chiat. Maybe trying out new combination in Pahang Open.

Badminton / Pahang Open: Bright start for Chong Wei
By : K. M. Boopathy
Email to friend Print article
LEE Chong Wei began his title defence with a comprehensive victory over national junior shuttler Arif Latif in the Pahang Open championship in Kuantan yesterday.
Chong Wei, the top seed, secured a 21-18, 21-14 win to book his quarter-final berth against Project 2010-2012 shuttler Liew Darren today. Liew Daren advanced after a 21-18, 21-13 win over Chan Kwong Beng in the second round.
Chong Wei won the Pahang Open crown in 2005 and his path looks clear as Hafiz Hashim has withdrawn from the tournament.
Kuan Beng Hong, who is expected to meet Chong Wei in the final tomorrow, also advanced when he beat project squad’s Chong Li Qun 21-15, 21-16.
Beng Hong next plays project shuttler Chong Wei Feng, who defeated Pahang’s Zulfaari Abdullah 21-19, 21-14,
Two other national players — James Chua and K. Yongendran — were stretched to three games by back-up players in the second round.
Chua edged Beryno Wong 21-11, 20-22, 21-11 and plays another back-up shuttler Lim Kenn while Yogendran, who overcame Zairul Hafiz Zainuddin 21-14, 20-22, 21-11, will meet Tan Chun Seang next.
In the men’s doubles, veterans Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah had to go the distance while the rest of the senior pairs cruised into the quarter-finals.
Tan Fook-Wan Wah struggled against project squad’s Chan Peng Soon-Razif Latif before registering a 24-26, 21-13, 21-19 win and will play Goh Ying Jin-Azrihanif Azahar.
Second seeds Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong also advanced with a 21-12, 21-18 win over Khoo Chung Chiat-Chan Hun Pin and take on national junior champions Lim Khim Wah-Mak Hee Chun.
Indonesia Open runners-up Fairuzizuan Tazari-Zakry Latif hardly raised a sweat in their 21-8, 21-12 victory over Selangor’s Mohamed Hashim-Nazree Latifi.
They will be involved in an exciting encounter against defending champions Tan Bin Shen-Ong Soon Hock, who beat Au Kok Leong-Razif Rahman 21-18, 21-14.
Another senior pair Lin Woon Fui-Gan Teik Chai beat junior pair Vountus Indra Mawan-Lutfi Zaim 21-14, 21-14 and will take on former national pair Chew Choon Eng-Hong Chien Hun next.

IMO,the most nail-biting match for QF is the match between Ong Soon Hock/Tan Bin Shen vs Fairuz/Zakry.The score was close in the first set but OSH/TBS managed to take it with 21-17 (If I'm not wrong).
Zakry/Fairuz kept smashing in the 2nd game, but TBS also showed good defense. They were tied at 21-21 before Fairuz/Zakry prevailed with 23-21.
The 3rd game......uuhhh....TBS/OSH were once leading 7-1,but Zakry/Fairuz grabbed 7 points in a row and made it 7-8.It was neck and neck after that, the biggest gap was only 2 points. They tied at 18 all and TBS/OSH finished the game by earning the last 3 points.
well,TBS/OSH won in 3 sets, wish them good luck in SF.
KBH played poorly in his 1st set against Chong Wei Feng, but eventually he won in 3 sets.TCS vs LCW in SF after they beat Yogendran and Daren Liew respectively.Another MS match between James and Lim Kenn,I dun know the result,it ended very fast.

So far, the following is my impression on the plays going on at the Pahang Open [only those that I had the opportunity to watch, so I may have missed some great potentials]:-
1. CTF/LWW suffered an embarrassing defeat, losing 16-21, 16-21 to OSH/TBS. They did not play to their calibre and made so many silly mistakes typical of them before ABC and SO. Some drop shots by LWW were horrendously short of the net and CTF couldn't take some simple straightforward smashes. They were actually booed and jeered at during some parts of the play by the crowd... OMG
I won't take the game away from TBS/OSH though, they played well tactically to upset the top seed's rythym, but the top seed should have been able to pull from their vasts experiences and skills to at least give a decent fight !
2. The best match during the quarters to me was the OSH/TBS and FAIRUZ/ZAKRY match. That match really befits the final. Too bad they have to meet so early.
3. I suspect that Gan TC is the weak link in the LWF/GTC partnership. When in play he didn't seem to be able to vary his play when hitting road blocks and several numbers of unforced errors caused them the QF match. Gotta see more of him to see if what I suspect is correct. Different day, different form sometimes.
4. Impressive young MS players :- A) Darren Liew, who fought almost tooth and nail during his QF match 1st set with Lee CW, i.e. up till CW decided to step up a gear; B) Lim Kenn, who rattled Kuan BH very well in the SF this evening and was calm and composed during the matches. The set was stretched to 3 games.
5. Tan Chun Seang - MS player ( project squad ) - struck me as an excitable player, lost of actions, not calm and composed like DL and LK, rather like Chen Jin when he plays, very busy type.
6. Vivian Hoo - did very well to beat Lydia Cheah and took a game off Julia Wong at the SF, despite being a slim tiny looking girl, does have the power in her smashes and definitely someone to look out for in the WS next time.
7. Tan AQ - Div 2 , played in M singles and M doubles, another one to look out for in the future
Last but not least.... Lee CW does live up to his top billing and hopefully he'll have many more titles that he'll pocket:)

I dont think Lydia's lost has anything to do with her not feeling well or eat too much.Last year's KL open, vivian played 3 sets with her too. It's a 50-50 game. She's not consistant.Tee Jing Yi(U-16) on the other hand is doing quite well, she had a tough fight with Anita.
As for division 2, Yang Li Lian(U-14) from selangor is doing well too. Beat Ng Hui Ern and Ong Boon Hong and she's in control but lost to tiffany(Champ) in semi.
Wong Kin Yik (U-16)is not bad either.reached semi.

I was there during the Qfinal.Saw how Lydia was playin. She doesnt hav the fighting spirit.Just like Sonia. That's y they lost terribly in 3rd set.Although i'm from pahang as well, but Lai Pei Jing is also one of those who gives up easily. Hui Ern and Boon Hui lost to a Yang Li Lian with a big margin. What happened? She's only 14. Florah from Sabah is really good as well.Won 4 bjss girls back to back. But tiffany is ahead of her.

Noticed that the Div 2 player Teo Kok Siang had been playing very well this tournament, quick reflexes and sharp smashes. Also a thinking player as evident from the shots he played. Another great potential. Can't say the same for his partner Iskandar tho'. Another excitable player.
