hi all. i recently found an interest in badminton and would like to start playing consistently. im currently using an apac nanopower 7000 and i need to restring my racquet. i've heard loads of complaints from my friends about a shop in subang jaya ss14 name e-sports who restring their racquet. according to them, their string broke though they've only played one session. i truly do not want to experience this. hence, im asking if anyone here knows a good place around my area (sunway and subang jaya) to have my string job done?
besides, could you recommand me a good string for my racquet as mentioned above plux its a good tension ? what tension isnt too hard to avoid having frequent string breaks?

I got the same racquet like you.
The maximum tensile is 30 for the racquet so i'd recommend a beginner to restring at 23.

Where to find good string-er
:D4/4& bum ba bum ba bum bumbum
if your strings are strange
and you don't feel good
who you'd gonna call........thunder killer:D
f.y.i. tk is a close friend of mine who employs a very good "string-er", in fact a very reputable one. But whether or not he's of any help to you, I'm not
certain because his shop is in Kepong. I hope he notices this thread and comes by to share some pointers with you.
I'll be meeting him tonight, and will notify him about your plight,
but no promises.

As I've said we are meeting tonight. Sit tight at the momment, I shall have TK get in touch with you. Hopefully he could provide all that you need to know. f.y.i. all my stuffs from him are delivered by "TKL" (something like DHL) which I don't have to drop by his shop.
Relax.

Yes guys, keep him busy n ask more questions and squeeze the juice out of him.
Anyway, take it from OBF; you'll never regret that your rackets are being strung by him (his sifu I'd mean, never knew he could string..:D)
Also he has got a lot of rackets on offer. Myself, I recently bought a Fisher Pro at a special...very special price, but don't ask la.,:p he and myself close friends).
b.t.w., TK, suggest u attach a site location of shop for the convenience of fellow BCers.:)

23 is too much for beginners. 18 is best to start out with.

Max oh Max,
If you do often times have rackets to be strung and really think that there shall be much to be saved, may I suggest you get yourself a stringing machine and d.i.y.:) Rm5 is already dirt cheap, anything below that shall be unfair. Don't you agree?

not really man. it depends on your racket. my bg65 is at around 18-19 somewhere it's still fun to play. too much tension may cause your racket to break too depends on your racket. if your really new to badminton i'd set it at 19lb. but if your got some skills and knowledge of the sport, then start at 23.

what do u mean by good stringer???
A fren of mine is YONEX international stringer. He oways go to international tournament to string for players like Lin Dan, Chong Wei and etc......Is him good enuf to string ur racquet?
can PM me for more info.....
actually stringing skill is the same for most of the people. The main different is the machine tat they are using to string the racquet. I know got a team who use YONEX electronic machine to string all his customer's racquet. Thats the machine tat used by all international tournament.

TK,
Just tried my racket with the Proace New Imperial string. Good stringing job! Smash power is explosive, sound is nice. I would say, this string is equivalent to Yonex BG66, probably better. Durability? Let's me use for a few more week..:D
Next time I will try the Proace High Performance type..

I would say that the machine is not as important as the person (stringer).
I seen many stringer that do not have skill or exprience even few years of stringing rackets even if he has the best equipment.
Good quality stringing can be done even if you do not have the best equipment. This is one example of the proverb "a bad workman blames his tools" and a good stringer never blames his machine.
There are good stringer that have old machine and it work as well.
A good stringer should have these few points.
1. Willing to take the time to check your racket for cracks or damage to see it it can be string to the tension you request. Different type/brand of rackets have different rackets have different maximum tension specifaction. Age of racket will lower the racket tension tolerance.
2. Check and willing to change damage gourmets. Having the best racket and buying the best and strongest string will not help if you dont check for racket's flaws and damage gourmets. Failing to do so may results in premature breakage of strings.
3. Some Stringer so called "Professional Yonex Stringer" may be ONLY exprience in stringing YONEX Rackets. An Exprience stringer knows the different ways to string different shape/design and brands of rackets. And nowdays rackets have different amounts of holes for the string to pass thru. Stringing diection and using different ways to suit the design of the racket is imporatnt. And how many knots to use? .
The way a knots is tied may also damage the string. Another thing is the way they pull the string thru your racket may be also cutting the string even before they pull the tension. Some use very fast and jerks on the string causing it to cut and damage the string diagional to it.
Am i geting too technical??:)
I have note that during stringing, some part of the string may get caught in the stringing machine and get damage. You may not see the cut or damage as its too fine to see.
We heard of players complaning that they string break too frequently and most of the time is not because of their powerfull smash(as some may think so). Its more because the string is already damage by the stringer or by bad stringing or failing to check the gourmets.
Ask yourself these questions.
Will a stringer take the trouble to check and ensure the best quality stringing for your racket?. As long as he give you a reasonalbly good stringing and thats should be sufficent.
You string break more frequently and you have to visit the stringer more often or the stringing is done so well that it can last longer and you visit your stringer less. Which will make the stringer happier?
I have noted that some stringer even praise their customers for their powerfull smashes. wow your smash so powerfull ohhhh, 1 week break 2 string ohhh, you very powerfull la :D:D

The address:- MINE STORE, No.18, Jln. SS2/2, off Jln. Balakong, Bandar Cheras, Bt.11, Cheras 43200 Kajang, Selangor.
KFC = left turn at 1st junction right after Bt.11 traffic light. Maybank is easier to notice, which is right opposite KFC. When you reach Maybank, turn to your left and you'll notice the shop.
No promises; say you're recommended by Ah Kong goh (bro. Kong in canto) and Elwin who plays badminton in Kong Ming, might get discount if lucky....good luck.;)

i dont think so....strings like bg65 and bg80 must put very high tension
Hi thunder killer, How are you?
I am currently using Carlton Powerblade racket and I am pretty much used to BG80 @ 27lb. I was recommended (by an enthusiastic oldtimer) to use Proace string 2 days ago so I string it at 27lb. However each time after smashing, the 2 middle down string obviously shifted outwards (which never happen using BG80)
My questions are:-
a) Is Proace string better than BG80? (if yes which one);
b) Will stringing @ higher tention solve the above problem?;
c) Does stringing @ 4 knots help to keep its tentions etc (other than keeping the frame in shape)?
Appreciate your valuable opinion....

Hie Bro,
Since u not satisfy with the service provided by e-sports then u probably can try out the new outlet located with usj23 badminton centre. They are really professional and worth to try u know. I think they can give u more information about any YONEX range of racquet. They really sounds professional.

Hie Bro,
Im definitely feel that the BG 80 is better than the Pro Ace string. It is very much different you may try out by hitting the string by your own hand compared the sounds of the 2 racquet. Im sure YOnex string will give u better repulsion compared to other. Bear in mind, YONEX has various type of string some is hard, medium or soft feeling therefore you need to know what kind of string suits you. Too high tension may cause you injury or low tension cant give you comfort to play. Maybe u can look out at the sport shop in usj23 badminton centre. Thank you!

i think the machine doesnt make much experience.if the stringer is not good, whatever machine is useless.evern some stringer using manual machine, they still can produce good stringing and dont always compare the price as long the price is reasonable and doesnt make much difference.as long they produce good stringing and satisfaction to u.

I Have Tried The Digital Machine Before.with My Opinion,i Dont Think Is That Good.if The Stringer Techniques Are Lousy And Inexperienced, any Machine Doest Not Work On It.like A Good Badminton Player Doesnt Really Need A Good Or Expensive Racket.if He Or She Does Not Have Good Skills, techniques, experienced. Whatever Racket Will Be The Same Result Happen.....

just sharing my experience ..
i've tried AJ, GV, Racket Zone and Etakoh .. for stringing service. The best so far .. is the Stringer at Etakoh (the one wearing glasses ..). RacketZone comes 2nd ..
problem with Etakoh, only Ashaway strings .. but at the end of the day, you must know what is good stringing all about, relative to your badminton skill ..
either 4knots or 2 knots .. where should be the sweetspot .. how to test whether good stringing or not .. and other things .. 10% higher for the cross .. etc ..
normally, digital machines give more tension eventhough the reading is the same .. due to constant pulling. 27lbs with digital machine, normally will feel as 29lbs with manual ..
oppss .. i'm just a beginner to begin with. so read above .. with a lot of doubts !! :D

A good sportshop/stringer NEVER RESTRICT a player's choice of string.
Therefore he is "not exprienced" enough to "understand" different level of players playing badminton for different reason.
Another reason is the sportshop/stringer is concern more about their own interest.
My oponion!
A good stringer give what the customers/players wants!
Some players concern is the price.
But some customers/players willing to pay for what they wants!!

Guys, you can try stringing your rackets in USJ Taipan. Shop name : MY Sports House, same row as big book shop and next to Music/Cd shop. They have good stringers who are also good badminton players. Heard KKK has some interest in it. Try it out!

Bro, they stock most yonex strings under the counter. I knew this when maybe one of the regulars asked for BG66 :D
The young lad who sometimes does the stringing there is good too. The tension loss was minimal.
