About 7 days to Cheers Asian Satellite 2007.
No Draw
No Website
Seems like last year was the same case as well. What've happened to Singapore Efficiency we've come to love?

Or is Singapore now a strict practitioner of extreme JIT practices?

There have no Indonesian players from Djarum after 2 tournament in a row, NZ and Vietnam Challenge. I think better they prepare for Phillipines or Thailand GP, mainly for rising star Andre and Wahyu.

MS only Fauzi Adnan, others never heard before.

WS only represented by Feby Angguni, 15 y.o, and Melicia Kurniawan, I have no idea, is she also from Pelatnas or P.B Djarum.

MD, Bona/Ahsan seem pushed by Pelatnas as 3rd or 4th MD after Luluk/Alvent bad performance in recent tournaments, Subekti/Fernando as well.

WD we still see Nadya/Devi Tika and Lelyana Dessy/Yunita Tetty. Yunita Tetty actually good player, but can't through top world.

XD represented by Tantowi/Yulianti, Indra/Dili, and Lingga/Devi. I think Indonesia can get the title from XD, specially from Tantowi/Yulianti.

In this week also held local tournament, Jakarta Open. That's why a lot of non Pelatnas player won't play in here although they prefer to play in here

Febby Angguni is youngest Pelatnas player and she also come from Djarum. Actually her performance wasn't too far with Maria Febe in U-15 local tournament when they played for Djarum. In my mind training in Djarum is much better than Pelatnas in this time

I thought Adnan Fauzi has already moved to SG?

Melicia Kurniawan was there competing in the Cheers Satellite last year and I watched one of her match against a Thai opponent. Sandy said she was from Tangkas and Liang Chiu Hsia is her coach.

Yup...Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan seem to be prepared for the more rigorous tourneys ahead. It will be good if they can win a title or two in the Satellite or Challenger levels. Fernando Kurniawan/Subakti need more time....perhaps another one or two years at the Satellite levels.

Yunita Tetty has already left Pelatnas and rejoined her old club, Suryanaga Gudang Garam. So, it seems that they want to experiment more with Nadya Melati/Devi Tika.

Tantowi/Yulianti will be a good backup pair...Lingga/Devi Tika as well.

Sandy, since you know well of Indonesian players and what tournamets they follow, I am gld if you can update Jakarta Open as well in 2007 tournaments. I think this tournament is good as Cheer Singapore Satellite since many Indonesian talented players participate. Thanks.

I hope I can see this tournament since I prefer to watch junior player, unluckily this tournament "only" national circuit since BWF decided only one Satellite event in every country (too bad, it was against to made badminton more popular and pull up the prize money).

So who's going?

Serla, Georgina, Venny, Loh, Badmania?????

At first I thought I'll climb Mt Ophir in Johor with some friends during the Cheers tournament but the recent death of two Singaporeans there by falling trees put paid to our attempt. The Malaysian authorities decided to stop all climbing activities there until it becomes safe.

Now friends have asked me to join them for an overnight "kelong" (fishing house on high stilts in the sea) stay in Batam which I agreed. So I hope to watch some matches before I leave for the weekend trip.

We're celebrating Vesak Day (for Buddhists) with a public holiday on Thurs, 31 May and this week is a short vacation week for school children. Attendance at this tournament should be good especially when most of the players are still in their teens. :)

But I'm confident that we have enough BC interest to cover the proceedings, including pics. ;)

The first day for this Cheers Asian Satellite 2007 starts at 9 am and will probably end past 11 pm although the last match is scheduled to be played at 10.25 pm. Chong We Feng #12, a good Malaysian friend of some BC members, will do the honours and close the curtains for the last match against a qualifier.

Two meal breaks, one before 2 pm for lunch and another before 7 pm for dinner must be most welcomed by all to break the monotony :D.

Tomorrow will also be a long day, with some R1 matches still to be played till the early afternoon, but more supporters should turn up because it is Vesak Day (Buddhist celebration) a public holiday. But for the school children, the short one-week vacation has already started

Here is the link for the draw and the results (which have not been updated yet unfortunately):

http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/matches.aspx?id=15083

For those who may be interested, a brand new Chinese temple in red and gold, has just been completed in Chinatown, around Banda Street, and will exhibit some rare Buddhist relics for the public to view during this celebration.

All five events, MS, WS, MD, WD and XD will be competed. Except for MS which caters to 64 entries in the main draw, all the other events will have 32 entries.

Leading the pack in MS is Malaysia's Roslin Hashim #1 and nine other Malaysian players who are also seeded up to 16. Senior players include Yogendran and James Chua. Recently crowned Vietnam Open champion, Tan Chun Seang is seeded 3rd behind Nicholas Kidd of England. And of the rest of the other seeds, 2 are from Thailand (incl. cute "Boon") and one each from England, Scotland (Alistair Casey), Hong Kong (Wong Wai Hong) and Singapore (Erwin Djohan).

In MD, the Malaysians continue to dominate with five seeded pairs out of eight, although Vountus Indra Mawan and Mohd Arif Abdul Latif are seeded second after Indonesians Bona Septano and Mohammad Ahsan. Maybe we should watch out for the Korean boys, Cho Gun Woo and Yoo Yeon Seong #5. But it could end up with the Malaysians fighting hard among themselves for a place in the SF.

I thought Zhou Mi is competing here in WS but could not find her name. So Julia Wong and Anita Raj Kaur of Malaysia are seeded one and two respectively.

The WS is the most evenly seeded with two players each from Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Korea.

In WD the fight also seems to be more even with seeded pairs of two each from Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and one each from Indonesia and Korea. Malaysia's Haw Chiou Hwee and Lim Yin Loo head the list followed by Singapores Vanessa Neo and Shinta Mulia Sari.

Korea dominated the XD with three pairs followed by Indonesia, two and one each from Singapore and Malaysia. However Malaysians, Chan Peng Soon and Haw Chiou Hwee are the top seed.

I'll be at the SBA Hall soon to watch the proceedings from 7 pm. But I will miss the Finals on Saturday :crying:.

Singapore is grateful to Thailand's princess who is a staunch supporter of badminton not only in her own country but also in Singapore, where she has participated a few times. Although she lost in R1 of the XD, she is an excellent sporting ambassador for badminton and we look forward to seeing her again. :)

One INA casualty in XD in which Viki Indra Okvana/Dili Puspita Richi lost to Khoo Kian Teck/Frances Liu Fan 15-21, 15-21.

Febby Angguni has advanced to the main draw and will face Vivian Ho Kah Mun tomorrow.

INA's sole representative in the MS, Fauzi Adnan, has advanced to the second round. So does Mohd Roslin Hashim.

And for fans of Malaysian juniors: Darren Liew, Chan Kwong Beng, Kenn Lim, Vountus Indra Mawan, Beryno Wong, and Chong Li Qun have all progressed.

There should be one more...Malaysia Satellite...usually at the end of the year. A couple of the Satellites are now Challenger events, offering more prize money, like the recently concluded Vietnam Challenge and the Indonesia Challenge. There's also going to be another Korean Challenge at the end of the year, which complements the Osaka International Challenge earlier this year.

Well...I am only concerned with Asian Satellites and Challenger events :D
It's almost unlikely that Pelatnas players (unless Djarum players) are being sent to compete in those European tourneys. Indeed, there are many of them each year: Irish International, Wales International. Austrian International, Polish International, etc etc. But, I couldn't be bothered :p

The ones that are more "popular" and usually have Pelatnas representatives are the ones I have mentioned. Cheers Singapore, Smiling Fish Thailand, Robot Vietnam, JPGG Indonesia and Malaysia (sometimes India too). Also add the MILO Junior Indonesia Open :D

Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand should upgrade their current International Series [min $5000] to International Challenge [min $15,000]... Vietnam and Indonesia already have International Challenge tournaments...

I repeat... VIETNAM just had one. [I hope one of the Badminton Federation people from the 3 countries I mention above happen to be a B.C. member too]. The Vietnamese are not rich and have a short badminton history. Shouldn't the richer countries of ASEAN who have a longer history in badminton [like Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand] hold more prestigious events to accompany their GP Gold or Superseries...?!? :p :D

A higher prize money event will induce more and more people to play badminton professionally... Hey why not a Philippine Challenge?!? or Philippine International Series. ;)

Later, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar should just arrange to organize one Future Series [min: no prize money] per country. Brunei... go straight to GP Gold please... :D You have the money and your Sultan loves badminton... need I say more?!? ;) Ha ha ha...:D

Actually, I don't know exactly what happened to the 1* Brunei Open that was around a few years ago... I have always wondered. Does anybody know?!?

There you go, with each of the 10 ASEAN countries actively support badminton... :p we will have enough tournaments that will bring ranking points, income, and match experience accumulation that will rival any other region in the world...

Most of the INA youngsters progress through the first rounds of their various events, except for Viki Indra Okvana/Tantowi Ahmad. Besides, Lelyana Candra/Yunita Tetty also lost to Kim Min Jung/Ha Jung Eun (as expected) in the first round of WD.

The remaining matches involving INA players today:

MS
Fauzi Adnan vs Riyo Arief -- the more well-known Indonesian should win and could meet the second seeded Nicholas Kidd later at night.

MD
Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan vs Nguyen Huy Giang/Nguyen Hoang Hai -- a breeze

Fernando Kurniawan/Subakti vs Worachon Bunwiroon/Songphon Jantharasom -- unknown Thai pair...I hope the Indo junior pair can win.

WS
Lee Yun Hwa vs Melicia Kurniawan -- bye bye Melicia...

Febby Angguni vs Gu Juan -- the 4th seed is definitely more experienced, but, I hope for an upset here.

WD
Nadya Melati/Devi Tika Permatasari vs Kim Min Jung/Ha Jung Eun -- an unfortunate early clash...another upset on the card?

Dili Puspita Richi/Yulianti vs Ong Sock Chin/Amelia Alicia Ancelly -- a tricky match against the 8th seed. But, I think Dili/Yulianti can win.

XD
Khoo Kian Teck/Frances Liu Fan vs Lingga Lie/Devi Tika Permatasari -- tricky, but Lingga/Devi should also win.

Malaysian Juniors MS (for yannie and other fans :D)
Chong Wei Feng vs Lok Chong Chieh
Darren Liew vs Chan Kwong Beng
Kenn Lim vs Vountus Indra Mawan
Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainudin vs Tan Chung Seang -- overwhelming favorites here :D

Let's wait and see. I have a gut feeling that CKB will win against Lim Kenn. He is adapting very well to Rashid's coaching and learned alot. Too bad he met TCS last week in the semis. Likewise, Lim Kenn seems strucked in the middle of nowhere of late, after winning the Sri Lanka Satellite last year.

All Pelatnas juniors players progressed except for Febby Angguni who lsot to Gu Juan after she retired in the third set and Nadya Melati/Devi Tika Permatasari who lost to Kim Min Jung/Ha Jung Eun 9-21, 17-21.

The other non-Pelatnas MS who progressed to the QF is Fauzi Adnan who beat Nicholas Kidd in 3 sets 19-21, 21-11, 21-10. He will face one of the Malaysian Junior Mohd Arif Abdul Latif tomorrow.

No problems for the other Pelatnas WD Junior pair Dili Puspita Richi/Yulianti as they beat the 8th seed Chong Sook Chin/Amelia Alicia Ancelly 21-12, 22-20. As well as for the MD Junior pairs: Fernando Kurniawan/Subakti and Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan. Tougher tests will come tomorrow.

Quarter-Final Lineups:
MEN'S SINGLES
Mohd Roslin Hashim vs Ashton Chen Yong Zhao
Chew Swee Hau vs Cha Kwong Beng
Beryno Wong vs Tan Chun Seang

Mohd Arif Abdul Latif vs Fauzi Adnan -- chance for Fauzi to meet TCS in the semi-final!

MEN'S DOUBLES
Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan vs Goh Ying Jin/Azrihanif Azahar -- a tricky tie...but...I think Bona/Ahsan will take it.

Lim Khim Wah/Mak Hee Chun vs Cho Gun Woo/Yoo Yeon Seong -- expect an explosive match...the MAS WJC Semi-Finalist could spring a surprise here.

Fernando Kurniawan/Subakti vs Ong Jien Guo/Goh Wei Shern -- similarly, I think the MAS pair is more experienced...but...I hope Edo/Bakti win.

Khoo Chung Chiat/Chang Hun Pin vs Chan Peng Soon/Mohd Razif Abdul Latif

WOMEN'S SINGLES
Zhang Beiwei vs Lee Yun Hwa
Bae Youn Joo vs Tee Jing Yi
Ng Ka Shun vs Gu Juan
Kim Moon Hi vs Jun Jae Youn

WOMEN'S DOUBLES
Frances Liu Fan/Yao Lei vs Sannatasah Saniru/Vivian Hoo Kah Mun
Koon Wai Chee/Chau Hoi Wah vs Kim Min Jung/Ha Jung Eun

Dili Puspita Richi/Yulianti vs Yoo Hyun Young/Jung Kyung Eun -- I hope the INA pair wins again.

Julia Wong Pei Xian/Anita Raj Kaur vs Ho Bee Ling/Yeow Min Xie

MIXED DOUBLES
Chan Peng Soon/Haw Chiou Hwee vs Cho Gun Woo/Kim Min Jung
Mohd Razif Abdul Rahman/Chong Sook Chin vs Kim Young Sun/Yoon Hyun Young

Lingga Lie/Devi Tika Permatasari vs Koh Yan Sen/Vivian Neo Yu Yan -- not an easy match either...hopefully the INA pair wins.

Yes, it is true that this Singapore Series seem to attract many MJs but not too many Thai 2nd layer and INA 2nd layer here... Last week at the Vietnam Challenge, the whole ASEAN contingent invaded Vietnam... Oh, and the Vietnam TV live broadcast helped a lot in giving a lot of BUZZ to B.C. members...

Fernando-Subakti?!? Yes they are the youngest Pelatnas pair. Both turn 19 this year.... [thus not eligible to compete as Juniors anymore at the Asian and World] 2007 Dutch Junior and 2007 German Junior champion... :) Fernando Kurniawan is the younger brother of Fran Kurniawan... ;)

Unfortuately I am unable to follow closely the tournament for this year owing to work and the "unfriendly" schedules to us poor souls as most of the matches are played in mornings and afternoons during office hours.

I have to miss today's interesting semi-finals as they are played in the morning and not in the evening after office hours. And I won't be able to attend tomorrow's finals as well. :crying:

I managed to catch some evening matches during Round 1 and saw recently crowned Vietnam Open champion, Malaysian Tan Chun Seang easily beat Indonesian Agripinna Prima Rahmanto Putra 21-18, 21-11. I also saw a new face, Wong Wai Hong of Hong Kong who struggled initially to beat Malaysian Loo Yik Xiang 21-13, 17-21, 21-9.

As expected Chun Seang made it to the SF but the gallant Wai Hong was eliminated in the QF by none other than the No.1 seed, Roslin Hashim, 17-21, 21-13, 21-14 in 55 min. A very good effort from Wai Hong indeed.

Of the Singaporean singles players, Zhang Beiwen performed perhaps the best with her shocking defeat of WS top-seed, Malaysia's Julia Wong 17-21, 21-13, 21-17. However, Zhang will meet another very tough opponent in the semis today, Korean Lee Yun Hwa #6.

Then comes Ashton Chen Yong Zhao who sent another Malaysia No.12 seed Chong Wei Feng packing with another rubber 10-21, 21-13, 21-15.

Gu Juan deserves mention with her victory over Indonesian Febby Angguni 23-21, 19-21, 18-8 (retired).

Local boy Chew Swee Hau did well too when he knocked out Thailand's Pakkawat Vilailak#15, 21-19, 16-21, 21-16 and another Singapore import Markus Wijanu Dwi Christanto 21-14, 21-14. However Swee Hau will meet Malaysian Chan Kwong Beng in today's SF. Kwong Beng did well to stop compatriot Kenn Lim #13 in the QF.

Erwin Djohan #14 put up a good fight in the QF against Tan Chun Seang before losing 21-16, 17-21, 14-21. He had earlier defeated another Malaysian Kuan Kam Chung 21-11, 21-14.

In doubles, the new WD pair of Frances Liu and Yao Lei has continued to improve and secured a place in the SF by shocking Malaysia's No.1 pair, Haw Chiou Hwee and Lim Yin Loo 21-17, 21-19 in 27 min.

But our WD top pair of Vanessa Neo and Shinta Mulia Sari #2 was ushered out by the unseeded Malaysian pair of Ho Bee Ling and Yeo Mie Xie 21-17, 20-22, 21-18.

At least our WD did better than our MD who were all knocked out by the QF stage. That's why Singapore needs to import good doubles players like Eng Hian to help in this men's department!

In XD our regular pair of Vanessa Neo and Koh Yan Sen #4 did well to advance to the SF

But we need to watch out for the Korean juniors who have established themselves as very tough competitors! They only come second to Malaysia who sent in a large contingent. And Vietnam has slowly made its presence felt. Indonesia, unfortunately did not showcase more of their juniors this year.

By the time I post, the SF would be all over! :D

Aiyoh! I'm also confused. But they are right, this morning is only QF when I rechecked the schedule.

But can someone confirm when the SF will be played? I hope it is this evening so that I can go and watch, my only chance.

Bona/Ahsan ranked no.38 now
Andre Kurniawan is in 40th place.

I hope that they will participate in SS China in July...
if Bona/Ahsan wins Cheers Satellite, they may end up in top 30. Not bad for young pair which started last year.

It is weird that suddenly simon in 14th place behind Sony (13th), taufik is in 9th place...trying to figure out how BWF is working on the ranking...
Also tony/Gunawan in 2nd and Kido/Setiawan in 3rd place...

where do you get that info? i've just checked the WBf web, and they still put simon at 27th, sony at 13th and taufik at 11th place.

First, INA players:
Lingga Lie/Devi Tika Permatasari beat Koh Yan Sen/Vanessa Neo Yu Yan in 3 tough sets 21-18, 20-22, 21-17. They are up against the Korean pair of Yoo Yeon Seong/Ha Jung Eun in the SF.

Fauzi Adnan lost to the fast improving Mohd Arif Latif 15-21, 16-21.

Dili Puspita Richi/Yulianti once again beat the Korean pair Yoo Hyun Young/Jung Kyung Eun 21-12, 9-21, 21-18. They will face Julia Wong Pei Xian/Anita Raj Kaur tonight.

Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan also progress to the SF after an easy victory over Goh Ying Jin/Azrihanif Azahar 21-7, 21-17 in the shortest match of the day so far (only 22 mins). They will repeat their matchup against Cho Gun Woo/Yoo Yeon Seong. The Korean pair triumphed after a titanic battle against Lim Khim Wah/Mak Hee Chun 25-27, 21-19, 21-14. With both Koreans playing again at night, Bona/Ahsan have an advantage here.

However, Fernando Kurniawan/Subakti lost to Ong Jien Guo/Goh Wei Shern 16-21, 19-21.

Oh...some upsets too...Mohd Roslin Hashim lost to Ashton Chen Yong Zhao 15-21, 18-21  2 other Malaysian Juniors Tan Chun Seang and Chan Kwong Beng won as expected.

It will be SIN vs KOR in the WS as the favorites all won their matches.

No shame!!! Tsk, tsk, tsk... losing to unknown and they are either backup or juniors in all 3 tournaments from NZ, Vietnam and S'pore. Gosh, i really cannot swallow this. I expected him to sweep aside all challenges and win at least win 2 of the 3 tourneys.

Better go back and dig a hole and bury his head inside like an ostrich.

SEMI-FINALS Lineup

MEN'S SINGLES
Ashton Chen Yong Zhao vs Chan Kwong Beng
Tan Chun Seang vs Mohd Arif Latif

MEN'S DOUBLES
Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan vs Choo Gun Woo/Yoo Yeon Seong -- I think this time, its likely for Bona/Ahsan to repeat their win over the Korean pair. The Korean must be very very tired after each player has to play 3 matches earlier.
Ong Jien Guo/Goh Wei Shern vs Khoo Chung Chiat/Chan Hun Pin

WOMEN'S SINGLES
Zhang Bei Wen vs Bae Youn Joo
Gu Juan vs Jun Jae Yun

WOMEN'S DOUBLES
Frances Liu Fan/Yao Lei vs Kim Min Jung/Ha Jung Eun
Dili Puspita Richi/Yulianti vs Julia Wong Pei Xian/Anita Raj Kaur -- a slightly easier match than the morning one, I think the INA pair should not have a problem of entering the Final once more.

MIXED DOUBLES
Cho Gun Woo/Kim Min Jung vs Mohd Razif Abdul Rahman/Chong Sok Chin
Lingga Lie/Devi Tika Permatasari vs Yoo Yeon Seong/Ha Jung Eun -- KOR has a slight edge here.

Don't mind me, i am just furious from his HEADLINES lately, I sympathizes with him then, and I thought he did the right thing, but with the recent results in these smaller tourneys, and seeded No.1 and losing to a better established player i can understand, but to juniors and backups... names i have never heard off... ohhh please... I think if he sues BAM for missing S'pore & Indon SS due to entry balls up, he might win in a court of law but given recent results, BAM might be entitled to ask for change from the expenses he saved by not going!

Hoped he does better as M'sian WC wild card - can't help feeling WCH might have made a better wild card choice at least more consistent though not in the best form.

I wanted to express my joy to see some of Singapore's players represented in the SF tonight, starting at 7 pm. This gives me the only chance to watch and support them as I will be away tomorrow.

Of Singapore's 4 semi-finalists, Ashton Chen stood out for being able to knock out Malaysian veteran Roslin Hashim in straight games in the MS.

And in the WS, Zhang Beiwen showed her fighting spirit by coming back from a game down to beat tough Korean, Lee Yun Hwa #6 21-23, 21-18, 21-14. Her doubles partner, Gu Juan #4, also joins her by defeating Hong Kong's Ng Ka Shun #5.

Then in WD, Frances Liu and Yao Lei managed to dispose of Malaysians, Sannatasah Saniru and Vivian Hoo 21-19, 19-21, 21-6.

Just wonder how many of them can make it to the Finals tomorrow.

Although it has been a tiring two-match day for the competitors today, at least Sunday is free for them to get to know more of Singapore I hope.

Roslin performance really dissapointed me again and again.Losing and losing again even there are no top player in all his match.Maybe because of no top player and he think can win easily so become like this.He must really pick up his form again and treasure the chance of being able to play in the World Championship.I don't wish to see an early exit from him in the WC again. All the best to him.

Singapura Satelit
Febby Cari Pengalaman

Calon pemain masa depan Febby Angguni terus dipoles.

Namun, dua partai awal semua dia menangi.

(bhw)

huangkwokhau
06-01-2007, 10:15 AM
For sure:

KOR : 2 titles ( WS and XD) as per my predictions.
MAS : 1 title ( MS)

The rest:

WD: INA vs KOR
MD: INA vs MAS

Hope INA can get 2 of them....

Representatives in Final:

KOR: 5 singles/pairs
MAS: 3 singles/pairs
INA : 2 pairs

None from SIN...I guess INA is not doing bad at all....considering few players are in this tournaments...

Nothing unexpected so far for Team Pelatnas.
Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan beat Cho Gun Woo/Yoo Yeon Seong for the second time in a row...21-11, 26-24 in just over half an hour. They have a big chance to win their second title in a row with a Final encounter against Khoo Chung Chiat/Chan Hun Pin.

Dili Puspita Richi/Yulianti also win their match 21-10, 21-18 in 25 mins...and will face their nemesis Kim Min Jung/Ha Jung Eun in the Final again as expected.

Lingga Lie/Devi Tika Permatasari lost to Yoo Yeon Seong/Ha Jung Eun 17-21, 14-21. It's an all KOR Final in the XD as Yoo/Ha will face Cho Gun Woo/Kim Min Jung. Similarly, it's also an all KOR Final in the WS as Bae Youn Joo will face Jun Jae Youn.

The girls here will be happy to learn that their favorite MAS Juniors are playing against each other in the Final. It's Tan Chun Seang vs Chan Kwong Beng.

FINALS Lineup, matches to start at 5pm.

MEN'S SINGLES
Chan Kwong Beng vs Tan Chun Seang -- an all-MAS Juniors Final to appease the hordes of girls fans here :p TCS to win a second title in a row!

MEN'S DOUBLES
Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan vs Khoo Chung Chiat/Chan Hun Pin -- a tricky match, but Bona/Ahsan should win their second title also! At this rate, they will be ready to play in the SS as soon as next year. This year will be almost impossible.

WOMEN'S SINGLES
Bae Youn Joo vs Jun Jae Yun -- an all-KOR Final with Jun to win in her comeback!

WOMEN'S DOUBLES
Kim Min Jung/Ha Jung Eun vs Dili Puspita Richi/Yulianti -- as much as I would like the INA pair to win, I still think the KOR pair has the slight edge. Unless, they crumbled again like last week

MIXED DOUBLES
Cho Gun Woo/Kim Min Jung vs Yoo Yeon Seong/Ha Jung Eun -- another all-KOR Final and Cho/Kim to take the title.

I don't think so. Even AG/Joko are only competing in the SS this year. Last year, they were not even playing in 5-6* tourneys (except for the Djarum Indonesia Open since it's a home event).

We girls will go for the more experienced Tan Chun Seang. Hopefully his win will motivate other MJs! Plus, he must break into top 30 soon.

Bona/Ahsan still needs more experience playing against the senior pairs. Look at the NZ Open, they lost quite early. However, I predict that they will be sent to ALL the Gold GP Events to further boost their rankings top reach at least top 25 by end of the year. There's a good chance for that.

well but really if they do this in super series level then its something to be proud of...but at this level??? not really......

considering there are no Chinese in these sattelite events...wat if the CHinese decided to participate then INA would just end up with none....look at Chen Jin n Andre Kurniawan.......dat tells you the difference.......

Yes after reading some of the comments, kido is most probably under the impression that Indonesia has the largest talent pool on Earth and the other nations [like MAS, KOR, HKG, JPN etc.] are puny badminton powers... equivalent of Samoa, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Iceland, Nepal,...

3 titles and a minimum of one runner up in every category in the Vietnam Challenge is a domination...!

2 finalist in the Singapore Series without the participation of Pelatnas' full 2nd layer force [no Andreas Adityawarman, Tommy Sugiarto, Bandar Sigit, etc.] is actually pretty decent... If those guys were around plus Firda, Nana, Maria Kristin [last year's Singapore Satellite winner], etc. Plus the Djarum crowd, like Andre, Wahyu, etc. I think INA shall do much better in MS and WS.
