That's a very useful video! I would say one of my weaker areas in returning a serve is my deception, this video really helps out! :)

He demonstrates the return of the short serve with a backhand net shot to either side.

Some points:
- try to make it look like you might send the shot one way before sending it the other way
- stepping in to the shot is about the same for either shot, the deception comes from quick hand/finger motions just before contact
- keep you serve return waiting position as close to the service line as possible to intimidate your opponent
- try to contact the shuttle when it still around net height. In terms of depth he was contacting about 1 foot in front of the service line

I will be uploading Part 2 of this series pretty soon, so keep an eye out

Also - if you want to see some other/new Instructional series on badmintonsite.com - there is a forum there, where you can suggest/request such things.

I visited the forum, but I was the only one, that was online at that time...

They should open a subforum here...

in the suggestions forum, simply write what you think of the instructional series, and who you would like to see in new editions of it.

I wrote some emails to badmintonsite.com, but never got an answer...

I said that I really like the videos from Peter Rasmussen and asked if there will be some more, some for "Kaldau", but no response...

EDIT:

So why should I register in that forum, when I'm the only one who is online?
I only can talk to myself...

when did you post that ?, the new forum hasn't been up for very long, which is why there's not many posts on there, many players stop by and answer questions to, Dicky Palyama for one.

I did not post anything, I WROTE SOME EMAILS!!!

Right know, I'm again the only one in the forum...

There are also only 42 members and 77 posts!!!
Nearly all posts are from the same 3 members...

77 posts in the whole forum and the forum is at least online since March 8th, so there is perhaps 1 post every day in that forum...

It looks like the forum is "dead"

BTW: There is a user names dickypalyama, but he only did 1 post

EDIT: now I also did 1 post in the forum! :-)

Yeah, thats sounds about right - I noticed the quality of the video I uploaded wasn't that great, so re-encoded it slightly differently, and re-uploaded overnight, its back on badmintonsite.com now, live - and ready to be played :)

Apologies for the downtime.

Cheers, Vaughn.
