No, China over Thailand 3-0 or 5-0 (if all matches are played).

Match between Malaysia and England will determine which country makes it into the semifinals and MAS 3-1 or 4-1 sounds about right.

Are the preliminaries played until there is a winning side or are all matches played. Conceivably, there could be a tie (possible in Division 1 B) and number of matches won might be the deciding factor.

Do you know that LYD is not in the list? Don't know who's gonna play for Korea's MD and XD?

The guy who beat Taufik many times is also at home; which makes Korea's men's singles a dead meet.

I think we MAS cannot be over confident and predict a 3-1 victory. Except for the MS and MD, the other wud be 50-50 for WS and WD and probably a 30-70 for the XD. So, for me, I wud say a 3-2 either way, depending on the form of the day.

During the group stages, all matches will be played. Of course, if a team has already got 3 wins, they can opt to forfeit the rest, therefore winning by 3-2.

CHN vs THA -- 5-0, no doubt CHN will show-off their power as strong-fave. Maybe, we can see LD against Boonsak again?!

INA vs KOR -- 3-2, INA must win this crucial match to maintain its final chance

MAS vs ENG -- 3-2, XD the weakest side of MAS will be advantage for the reigning World Champ Nathan/Gail. Meanwhile MAS is definitely struggling in WS and WD to face ENG's Tracey Hallam plus Donna/Gail, probably MAS will lose one of this woman sector.

DEN vs HKG -- 4-1, obviously WS is contribution point for HKG

Hi Robin,

you are right now. INA Vs Korea 3:0 impossible for my predictions... Maybe 3:2 or 3:1 or also can be 2:3 or 1:3. But I want INA win to korea.

I want also to make sure that your analysis not nationalisme. Because I saw alot of Malaysia here the analysis is nationalisme and not base on facts. OK.

Champion prediction:
1. China - 80%

2. INA - 50% - 60% (INA can take min 2 points to china, but max 3 points possible/difficult)

3. Malaysia - 40% - 50% (Malaysia can take min 1 point to china, but max 2 points possibble/difficult, and max 3 points very impossible).

China will going to Final easier. And who will versus China? (INA, Malaysia, Denmark or Korea)..

Denmark, Korea, Ina and Malaysia are got 50% chance to going to final. But If Malaysia, korea, or Denmark go to final and meet china,,, So China will be happy.....

and If INA going to Final, China will be preparing the total top players (MAXIMUM) and working hard.

korea is clever to field ???? (i forget thw name) who will play in XD ,WD,MD so korea can 'force' the line up as follows: (if not mistaken)
1.WD
2.MD
3.MS
4.WS
5.XD

very bad line ups for indonesia
Indonesia is in danger i think... korea may lead 2:0 :( :( or korean may win 3:1 :( :(

It is possible. 5-0 is improbable but still possible. Something is impossible only if there is a 0% chance of happening. All five matches being played (I don't think any team will forfeit matches here considering the possibility of a countback), I would predict a 3-2 Indonesian win. Indonesia to win MS, XD and snatch another crucial point.

Lee Yong Dae has a finger injury and has been out for several weeks. notice he's not been at the last 2 SS? and i won't say Tracey Hallam will destroy Wong Mew, i'd say they'd have an even chance. Tracey kinda plods around a lot, with not much fitness, whereas Wong is probably fitter.

Taufik vs PSH = 1 - 0
Markis / Hendra vs Kor MD = 2-0

i don't think so. Korea MD are pretty strong, and as for why Lee Hyun Il isn't there. he quit in january. now he's back, but too late for the Cup

Pivotal match between Hirose and Yao. The tie hangs in the balance especially after Sato was defeated by Eric Pang. The MD was won by Japan as expected. Japan still favourites as they are favoured to win both WD and XD.

Taufik vs PSH = 1 - 0
Markis / Hendra vs Kor MD = 2-0

Yeah but the question is will they play the matches in that order?
Koreans are known to do well in team tournaments (e.g. 2006 Asian Games, 2005 Surdiman Cup, 2006 Uber Cup, and reasonably well in the 2006 Thomas Cup).

Even so, MD is not guaranteed because the top two Korean pairs are pretty consistent this year, each wining gold medals and silver medals at the 2007 Korean Open & 2007 German Open and reaching the semi-finals in the other tournaments. I don't remember Markis Kidho (or is it Kido?) & Hendra Setiawan advancing to the semi-finals at all this year. And let's not even start discussing how miserably the pairing of Luluk & Alvent failed this year as well as last year (the only tournament they did well was reaching the 2006 Doha Asian Games). Indonesia's current MD pairs are no where as close to the older pairs (Sigit & Candra, Tony & Halim, Tony & Candra) in terms of consistency.

And in mixed, although the Indonesian pair have a slight advantage, the Korean mixed are no pushed over.

For WD & WS, Koreans are stronger so it's almost a sure win.

Interesting!

Ronald Susilo is playing doubles with Hendra Wijaya against Sweden's MD pair.

hcyong
06-11-2007, 06:01 AM
While Cheng lost to Xu, unknown Taiwanese men deliver the goods, getting both points in the men's department. Chinese Taipei now favourites to win this tie, as they are superior in the WD.

hcyong
06-11-2007, 06:05 AM
Interesting!

Ronald Susilo is playing doubles with Hendra Wijaya against Sweden's MD pair.

As Singapore is expected to steamroll over Sweden, they can mix their lineup around and give everyone a good warmup. Both Kendrick and Ronald get a feel of the courts, and they will both get valuable ranking points too (you only need to play once in a team event to get ranking points, so when Ronald is fielded against more fancied opponents, he will also get points, win or lose).

I think the proper word to be used here is "not likely" instead of "impossible".

"Not likely" means it can still happen but chances are low whereas
"impossible" means it will never happen at all (0% chance of happening as what hcyong said) just like sunrise from the west. :D

Never use "impossible" in your predictions.

hcyong
06-11-2007, 06:23 AM
The way things turned out today, Chinese Taipei will pose a big threat to Singapore for Div 2 Group A supremacy. Already, huge favourites in WS and WD, they just need one more point elsewhere.

hcyong
06-11-2007, 06:25 AM
Meanwhile if Japan beats Nederlands today, they would have already beaten their biggest foe in Group B. Poland will pose less of a threat, even though an upset is still remotely possible.

yup, they've done it i think, can't see their WD pair losing now ...

INA vs KOR
XD: Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir vs Han Sang Hoon/Lee Hyo Jung -- I think KOR purposely give this one up...to save LJJ for the crucial MD later on. LHJ might also want to save her energy.

MS: Taufik Hidayat vs Park Sung Hwan -- another point that INA should win...if Taufik plays properly.

WS: Adriyanti Firdasari vs Lee Yun Hwa -- the Korean has the edge and she HAS TO WIN this match to save the tie.

MD: Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan vs Jung Jae Sung/Lee Jae Jin -- the key match in today's tie and it could swing either way. I still think Kido/Hendra will take it.

WD: Greysia Polii/Vita Marissa vs Lee Kyung Won/Lee Hyo Jung -- it will be a meaningless match if Kido/Hendra win the previous match, if not, then Lee/Lee HAVE TO WIN. But, Greysia/Vita will not be an easy pushover.

INA to beat KOR 3-2

Hope the other nations play seriously against CHN!

Perhaps Thailand is saving power/energie/stamina for the match against England, because they don't have a chance against CHN and MAS

;)

they are going to lose anyway. might as well let the younger generation try it out on the real court.

And Thailand already know, even if they play their strongest players, they still lost to China.

So they rested their top players and give their second line players some Olympic points.

It's the early half of the match, once they get their rhythm going, they will move away.

Cai/Fu won easily 21-10

Meanwhile, I bet every other MD coach saw the fight between Mas VS Eng MD. Good for their next fight if they met KKK/TBH

I mean after a very promising start as young players 3 years ago, she did not had a very improvement play. Not to mention Hendrawan was her coach.

Still so so. I know its very hard to win China or ex China players. But she at least can win against Korea WS.

Now its 16-13 for Firda. Go Firda

Not suprise the game drags into decided set especially new England double coach, Tan Kim Her, former Korean double head coach, who knows Malaysia strength and weakness very well. Tought games for KKK/TBH.
