the end is nigh, i guess this means INA top the group with KOR 2nd?

14-20

yes.

SF1: CHN vs. KOR
SF2: INA vs.... ENG most likely.

this is it. a good fight from the Danish girls at the end of the first game, saving 3 match points. but eventually, they lost 19-21, 14-21 to Korea.

In the end a good effort from DEN but they only have themselves to blame. They should have beaten HK 4-1 instead of 3-2 and not lost to INA by a 4-1 margin. That's what made the difference in the end.

DEN has done well but not good enough. Pity we did not see 3 ways tie drama to calculate games and points:) because DEN lost 1:4 not 2:3 to IND but only beat HK 3:2.

i think the semis should be CHN vs DEN & INA vs ENG/MAS..
coz the head to head is in favour of dens..

yes. and that only highlights the importance of every match in a group setup. every match, every game and every point counts.

Which is why LYB is correct to play his strongest lineup in every tie, even with all the riches at his disposal.

OK, we will reconvene at the Day 4 thread where we can expect a capacity attendance from the MAS mob

i think even if he use all 2nd team in every tie..
CHN will still win it but not for MD only..:D

(on behalf of the INA fans/supporters):D...a big thank you to Denmark for pulling off the victory, eventhough they didn't make it to the Semis, and sending the INA squad to 1st place in the group and avoid facing CHN in the Semifinals rd!!:p:D:cool:...to yannie, sorry abt Denmark not advancing to the Semis..:(

seems you are not only stubborn but stupid as well. KOR has already lost the tie trailing 1:3 now!!!!

I wasn't paying full attention to the score the whole time... but thanks for calling me "stupid" though. At least I don't hide behind a new account just so nobody knows my original user name like someone does.:p

YES....I didn't follow the matches between KOR and DEN...just woke up :D

A very very sweet birthday present for me today as I was elated when I saw the score tournamentsoftware.com: DEN 3 KOR 2 :D

So, my prediction was correct after all!

Now, between MAS and ENG, I would prefer ENG to go through. INA will surely win the MS (1 guaranteed point there), more than 50% chance in MD (Candra/Alvent will be better here as Kido/Hendra have lost to Clark/Blair) and tough matches in both XD and WD (Nova/Butet and Greysia/Vita).

Indeed...it was a disaster letting HKG win the MD and WD....in fact, shocking....

haha yes we could do this, but...that would be cheating. i would rather America breed their own players instead of just simply recruiting players from other countries, but that may be asking too much. maybe we're just better off doing what Singapore is doing. haha yes we obviously have money. btw, the correct word here is "hire" or even "bribe" but not "hijack." that word is used for objects like planes, not people. yes, we could technically spend our money on getting these top notch players to represent the US, but all of our money is being squandered on the stupid war in Iraq, thanks to our !@#$%^&*() president, but we won't get into politics right now XP.

So far , very few American breed.....just borrow or buy them like Soccer with David Beckham....:D or Baseball....

who has an idea to field chandra/alven .... 'horor banget'

Not me. I wouldn't even drop Luluk... :p Must be some PBSI official in Jakarta who doesn't know anything about badminton... Ha ha ha... :p

The INA pair lost the first set 18-21
They better focus and don't lose the remaining set.

do you think chandra/alvent could take this game?
..it's not a 'horror show' & i'll nominate them(Candra & Alvent) to play in a crucial set(simple because of their experience):p;)..As the final scores show, the 3rd set of that match wasn't even close..Sorry, IMO, Luluk may not be let go, but perhaps a new partner is what he needs..:p;)

remember that candra-sigit when it's coming to important match, many of those match, they lost on their first set then take 2nd and 3rd set. Well Alvent isn't sigit but we'll see
..true, Alvent is no Sigit, but at least he's pretty stable..couple that with the presence of Candra and who knows...All i know is that Candra is playing with a "younger" player, who also likes to "gebukin shuttle"(smash the shuttle)..:p:D;)

INA needs to win 4-1 then Kor will feel pressure to beat DEN to top the group...
..yes, i think that's what happened with the younger KOR squad vs. DEN's squad..fortunately for them, they had won their 2 previous ties..;)

But it is unlikely Candra-Alven will let that happen. These guys were former world #1s... ;)
.you betcha..;)

If KOR wins, then KOR 1st, INA 2nd.
If DEN wins 3-2, then INA 1st, KOR 2nd
If DEN wins 4-1, then INA 1st, DEN 2nd
If DEN wins 5-0, then INA 1st, DEN 2nd
..hey, is this Nackil Sung, the gentleman who helped, as a Liaison Officer for the Korean team, during the 2005 World Championship in Anaheim??..If so, nice to meet you in again, sir, this time in BC!!:D:cool:..I don't know if you remember me, but i sure remember you(w/ the help from your screen name as well)..;):)

Poland surprisingly defeated the Nederlands, using its doubles power. So tomorrow, it will be a straight fight between Japan and Poland for Div 2 Group B supremacy. Nederlands will take on Russia to avoid the bottom. Prediction: Japan-Poland-Nederlands-Russia
It was not a surprise (Poland-Netherlands 3:2) because all Polish pairs were strong favourites. NL could only be sure of the win in WS.
And my prediction is Poland-Japan 3:2. Japan wins WS and MS or WD. PL wins MXD, MD and MS or WD...
Russia - NL probably 3:2?

The scratch pairing of Han, Sang Hoon & Lee, Hyo Jung is quite good considering they beat the INA pairing of Nova Widianto & Lilyana Natsir and now Jens Eriksen & Kamilla Rytter-Juhl
..and it seems like the KOR squad and esp. Lee Hyo Jung have found a new XD player in Han Sang Hoon:)...It'll be interesting to see if they're able to partner and play together in future tourneys..

...i think it will be a tricky tie for the INA squad if either ENG or MAS is the runner-up in their group...I think it's safe to say, INA better field its "best" players against their next opponents..:p;)

Thanks mate :D

...hmm, personally, for the sake of BC being full of supporters in the Semifinal round/day, i'd like MAS to advance...soooo...Go Malaysia and Malaysia BOLEH!!!;):D:cool:
